People usually tell me I'm too serious when they first meet me. They say I'm intimidating because, usually, I just sit there observing everyone or absorbed in my phone and ignoring them. A few people have even told me they were scared of me, which confuses me because I'm the one scared of them 😂😂 Then, after they talk to me for the first time, they tell me I'm actually nice and they didn't expect that. This one girl actually told me she thought I was a b*tch before talking to me, only to find out we have the same interests and humor, and she became one of my "babies" afterwards.

The accuracy of this is baffling to me lmao the amount of times people (later friends or even partners) have told me they found me intimidating or even scary at first... Later on as we grew closer they see who I really am and call me all types of cute names, it's like night and day to them but I can't just see myself from their perspective, it's so strange 😂

I accidentally fooled some introverts into thinking I was an extrovert because of how bubbly and chatty I get when I'm comfortable and happy. My best friend still believes I'm an extrovert because she's really timorous and much more introverted than most introverts I know! And the kindness is also one that gets mentioned so many times just because I'm trying to be a good friend people I care about and that comes with acceptance and understanding. These are the two things that people mostly point out about me, an INFP
@noname-qw9td
@noname-qw9td Жыл бұрын
We as INFPs get that a lot. We put ALL of our energy into making sure we 'fit in' with the energy and that 'Nothing is wrong! Everything's great!' then we go home, flop on the bed, and shout 'WHY DID I DO THAT' before chilling for the night and saying you're gonna be more real next time- to which they ask you how you're doin- "NO NO EVERYTHING'S GREAT!' hahah. It's a never ending cycle of pushing ourselves out there and being absolute hermits at home to recharge that it really is a complete opposite

I have a friend who thought that I was a hikkikomori when I told him I'm introverted. When we met in person he introduced me to his friends thinking he would do me a favour and help me come out of my isolation, and after I chatted with them he was like, "Hey! You're not introverted at all! I thought you were like so and so I know who struggles to talk to people and rarely leaves the house." I was like, "I really came here to spend time with you and would much rather have spent all that time with just you. Just because I *can* do a thing doesn't mean I *enjoy* it." 😅 I think some people mix up social anxiety with introversion. It's not that they don't often go together, but they aren't the same thing. I'm not scared of meeting new people, I just usually find it boring. I find it exciting to be with a few people and get to know them really deeply and intensely, not to meet lots of people superficially.

I'm an open book with MOST people. But it took me a long time to learn that many people don't know how to read me or don't want to even try, and that's NOT my fault (might not be theirs either... it just is). There are people I DO actively shut out of my inner life, but that's specifically because THEY have shown themselves to be untrustworthy, not because I'm naturally closed-off.

Yep. I learned when I was little that my boundaries wouldn't be respected or understood, so I am a chronic over sharer. But I didn't used to be that way. I think that's the result of having boundaries trampled. We need to remember that we are worth our boundaries. That's what I'm having to learn as a "broken" INFP

I have no clue what people really think of me and why cuz nobody talks to me. They ignore me and avoid me. The only thing ive ever heard them say about me is that im weird and very closed up. Currently im not genuinely nice to people anymore cuz im starting to hate them for not being able to accept me just the way i am. And i refuse to hate myself any longer. The rest fits my personality incredibly well. So I am definetly an INFP. Maybe im a broken INFP or something since some of the appreciated aspects dont apply to me anymore.

That kindness is a genuine part of you tho. By suppressing because of others, you're kinda letting others dictate who you are.
@YEONKI_MIN
@YEONKI_MIN 6 ай бұрын
If you want people to accept you for who you are, that must mean you like who you are and dont want to change despite what others think. But if that was the case you wouldn't hate yourself. It sounds like you're letting other people's thoughts about you determine YOUR thoughts about you, which is a hole a lot of us have fallen into - myself included. Just remember that no one gets the final say on who you are but you. But you also remember that if you are different than what others say and you care about what they think, you need to prove them wrong. If you don't care then you have nothing to worry about. You don't owe anyone your time and energy. However, just how you don't owe others things, they don't owe you anything either. Not understanding, not friendship, not a pleasant conversation - nothing. These are things you need to take action to obtain (assuming you want them). This doesn't mean becoming someone you don't want to be, it means building yourself into the version of you that people will feel comfortable around enough to talk to. This'll take a lot self evaluation. Just be honest with yourself about what isn't working and then work on fixing it little by little. 😊

My family doesn't understand me. I am soooo different from all of them. I possibly come across as lazy to them, have no direction. Etc.. But all of this is untrue. I am non conformist but I also have traditional values for marriage and children after marriage rather then before. I take life seriously at times yet Im also very childlike and fun. For the last two decades I have struggled with my immediate family and how much I feel an outsider. Yet it was even incredibly noticable to me when I was a child and I tried to run away once, I have often had times of yearning total escapism. If I wasn't getting that escapism from my creativity then I would take time out to be by myself in some remote place to gain a sense of self and recover from Conformity, hide from society and instead nurture my own sense of self by being totally introverted until i felt able to return to the real world. Often not much fills me with total content. I am forever looking to evolve myself as a better version of me, being a Pisces too my spirituality fuels me, and the need to be entertained and to entertain others with my bubbly personality not quite the class clown I was never that at school where I only rebled in subtle ways. In my twenties is where I discovered a lot about myself until the mid to late twenties were cut when became unwell and the next 11 years was full of struggle to strength, alot of dark times, I grew up in that time but had a lot of missed opportunities and missed out on some fun and exploring. Im becoming more content now, I have actually always had a sense of direction in life I knew I wanted to help people. That along with my creativity is my lagacey to the world.

Am easily overjoyed. I usually say this like" Ah, its the little things". One of my bosses thinks she has me pegged without really knowing or understanding me. She says I'm closed off. Yes, I'm closed off to her because I feel like in private discussions, she's always trying to manipulate me emotionally. She doesn't have a clue how self-reflective I am so she's always trying to make me understand how another might think and feel. Like duh! Shes always trying to get me to accept mistreatment through this "relate to others" crap and making excuses for them. She's pretty much cut-off! Im re-annoyed all over again just thinking about this!

Avoiding conflict is not in itself a pattern directly related to being an INFP. Avoiding conflict with others is a pattern that shows up in large populations of people and is often correlated to what was modeled to the person in their family of origin. People who tend to avoid conflict have learned to deal with problems in this way, in sum, it could be related to how they grew up, what was modeled in their family of origin, or a conditioned response etc.

#2 i experience a lot, and the more they pick at my about it less of a chance they have of getting into my world. If they put an effort into getting to know me and take time rather than simply straight up asking me something and then instantly giving up or get frustrated then, they would most likely get in eventually. I see people as a trap, being careful of what I say due to past experiences so most of the time I just don’t speak at all unless you’ve allowed me to observe you and gain your trust. For those with the most popularity, I’ll ignore because I know they spread the most word and are the ones who usually have the traits dislike such as the ones I’ve already mentioned. I tent to push those people away which leads to false rumors being spread about me making everyone stay away from me. I do enjoy solitude which I had when I transferred schools for a year but returning it actually felt kinda lonely. Good thing I met my fellow percussionist in school, they’ve become some of the closest people to me I’ve had my whole life The golden rule hurts, so many times I’ve offered friendship and they spat in my face. It’s even sadder when you try to help someone but instead they attack because they are afraid of you probably due to some past trauma (or false rumor like I’ve mentioned earlier)

I find it surprising, tho maybe it is only fitting, that you use the phrase "you can't please everyone" at the end. A simple saying, but almost always true, in almost all situations. It is in my favorite parable of Aesop, chronicling a man and his son taking a donkey to market. That is easy to look up if interested. It is the most universal and consistant observation of human nature that I know of, and a favorite parable. As someone who tries to bring comfort and peace, it's important to realize, that sometimes...people won't let this happen.

I kinda got into wrong profession, when I started the apprenticeship of sales assistant. It always gave a somewhat good feeling, but the one part really actually annoys me: Convincing ppl to get something they dont need. Im happy to give them what they need, but insurancies are things which matters the most fir our company and even if I excel at selling those, it really leaves me a bad feeling. INFPs treat others as they want to be treated...but do they? I can't stand being ignored. Thus, I cannot ignore someone, even when I need time to myself. I'm not talking about those one or two people with whom I feel very close. I'm talking about everyone, even that person I'd rather avoid because they are obnoxious--and especially children (though some have put me to the test with their incessant questions!). @@talonthorn I'm not sure if I can speak for all INFPs (I'm an INFP-T), but the ghosting for me can be for many different reasons. Sometimes it's just that I'm exhausted from all the social interaction and need some time to rest and recharge. Other times I withdraw because I've had an idea and need to paint the picture or write the story that's taking up all the space in my head, and I can't stop until it's out. The third reason to ghost someone is that I no longer find their thoughts interesting, being in their company doesn't improve me and brings out traits in myself that I don't like, or I've lost respect for them because of something they've said or done. So, in summary, the ghosting is just as likely to be about the INFPs tending to their inner world, as it is to be an outright rejection. I hope this helps.
@talonthorn
@talonthorn 5 күн бұрын
@ I understand that, and have experienced some of it myself (needing to unload my head). But you'd come back. The others seem more likely. It's just too bad people are not up front about the why. It hurts much more to just have a friend disappear than to have them explain that I'm boring or our values conflict...and with the latter, it would be nice to have a chance to talk about it--might be a misunderstanding (lost respect with something I did). Are INFPs fluid with relationships, to where they easily open up at the beginning, but it isn't matched with the same level of commit? I'm a bit extreme, in that I never abandon a relationship (until I have to!), so this is a foreign concept to me. I know some people dump everything, and see if the person stays around (I used to be like that), and that might be close to what I'm asking. Anyway, thanks, and I don't mean to drag out the discussion...reply if you like. I just have a lot of unanswered questions, which is unusual for an INFJ.

@@Tony-xe5bj I think INFPs want to believe they are kind, compassionate, etc., but the truth is that we all have human failings and beat ourselves up for it when we can no longer deny our own misconduct. I wouldn't say I go through the same thing all the time, but I do find that because I'm so much older than the median age now that I've dealt with a lot of spiritual angst that many are still going through (and which many are still in denial about).

Everyone say I'm cute this year, that is a compliment but sometimes that makes me angry, because it's like I'm underestimated (I'm more than a little cute animal hanging among grown-up people). People that doesn't know me are often surprised when I say swear words or show any sexual knowledge😁. But that.s funny!

Literally me. I don't swear a lot on the regular, but sometimes it slips. My friends always act like it's the end of the world (DON'T MURDER ANYBODY!!!!) or like they've just witnessed the rarest phenomenon in history (Is that a cute little bean telling me to f*ck off? HOW CAN THIS BE???). There's no in-between!

I disagree with INFPs are selectively kind and unapproachable. I try to be kind to everyone. As for unapproachable, I think we can range from unapproachable to very approachable, depending on our age and social skills and comfort level.

I agree. I'm approachable, but I don't unusually make the first move if I'm in an unfamiliar situation. I am kind to people in general, but I am selective about how far that goes with people I don't know or don't particularly like.

strongly disagree with the joke thing, it is probably something specific the video maker is thinking of. Because honestly me and my boyfriend whom are both INFP's joke the heck out of each other. I think it just depends on if they are close enough too.
