He could’ve said it differently but the thing is... he’s right! Why would you play a pure scorer in your third line especially if he can’t do anything else? I remember when Selänne was played in the 4th line in Anaheim in his older days and when he came to the worlds or olympics that year (can’t remember which one) he led the tournament in points. The thing is, the Jets don't need the Sniper Laine. They need a "Marner" Laine. But Laine doesn't want to be a "Marner" - he wants to be a Sniper. So the match just isn't there, and that's what it is about. But Chevy doesn't have the balls to trade him, because he did score far more than usual in this first two seasons. If Laine had say 25-27-21 goals during the past 3 seasons, he would be traded under the current circumstances. But not when he has 110 goals as a 20-year-old. There are only 4 other players in NHL history to accomplish that.

I dont know if its because I speak finnish but either way I feel like everyone is over reacting big time. Its obviusly true he would be on the first line on other NHL teams (not all but some) and so I feel like it's only normal for him to start thinking at this age that he might be wasting his talent on the second line. Been to Finland many , many times. Finns don’t talk like this usually. Normally , most Finns are like Canadians . Laine had a very substandard year last season. I do remember him playing occasionally on the fourth line because he was playing poorly. Winnipeg has some very good forwards. Laine has a gift for scoring. And he’s on a very good team. The top two forwards on the team. How many of the top 4 scorers in the league are on second lines on their teams? Many of the players I listed are 3rd line guys. I can see his point here and I think you guys are way off. You remember the leagues top line when Laine, Scheiffle, and ehlers we’re out together? TSN had them at top the league. Wheeler didn’t like it and the coach was forced to juggle the lines. Both ehlers and Laines numbers both suffered as a result. Like someone wrote; you are putting a lot of faith into a Finnish tabloid. They get a lot on publicity with this thing and sell a lot of papers/online articles, since this interview has blown up all over Canadian and US sports news now. The paper being quoted is yellow press, quite often criticized in Finland for how they are fishing for clicks. What he supposedly said was that "somewhere else I could play with the best", in which he refers to that in some NHL teams he would be on the top line. From what I read (in Finnish) it is the paper which takes up Little's name, not Patrik. He says when asked; "well there is the top line, and then there is ours", referring to that he would like to be on the top line, which is not so strange coming from a player who wants to show that he is one of the top scorers in the NHL. The paper continues to mention that Paul Maurice has favored/openly said he is a fan of Little, to which Laine supposedly replied "that has been noticed". But sure, taken out of context it sounds a lot worse and the tabloid succeeded in what they set out to do...

He doesn't want to be a Jet. Period. He's essentially Evander Kane with some skill. He's got a superiority complex, the Jets are bellow him. He feels he should be playing with Ovenchkin or Crosby.
