I will say this... while I understand and don't disagree with the perspective of keeping family business in house, I don't feel like there's been enough empathy for Aoki. Everyone is focused on protecting the family image/RS but as a parent why would you drive your child to this point? Let's balance the perspective and talk about that. It should also be said that parents shouldn't pull their children into their disagreements and talk disparagingly about their co-parent to their children. Imagine sending someone to threaten your child in the middle of the night, making them feel unsafe. God forbid something happens to her then folks will be wishing she'd have spoken out. Normalize not protecting and keeping secrets for abusers. Also.. let's be real, he hasn't seen his children because he's hiding out in Bali to avoid catching a case in the US.

This! Everybody’s ignoring Aoki’s experience of HER Dad. WHO BETTER TO JUDGE THE CHARACTER OF RUSSELL THAN HIS CHILDREN?! People that don’t know Russell or have experienced him as intimately as a daughter would, have a lot of negative opinions about Aoki and what she’s exposing (with receipts) but a lot of excuses and shit for Russell. This is just proving her point that her Dad is beloved and powerful and no matter how she had went about divulging this information she’d be gaslit and painted as the villain for calling out the abuse instead of the mf DOING THE ABUSING. Just assuming it’s a family disagreement and dismissing Aoki like she’s just some spoiled petulant child is ridiculous. And Russell IS in Bali avoiding the statutes and limitations of his years of abusing women in the industry so ain’t no sitting down and having shrooms unless they go to visit his fugitive ass in Bali. Did we forget about Drew Dixon and her doc on the abuse she experienced by the hands of Russell? Or did we forget so fast? We need fully informed people on the panel because they just gaslit tf out of this young woman and her experience of her father. This man is rich and protected and surrounded by hundreds of people feeding at his trough. Where else could she go but social media?!

@@tball2688 It’s always true. That type of environment is fertile for abuse! Even if you’re unaware. If you don’t want the people who you love you to have a poor opinion of you. Don’t do shitty things to the people you love and be accountable to them when you mess up (including your children). Too often black households are run like a dictatorship where the father/mother are the head and any and everything they do is excused and justified and children have no say in how they are treated and loved as long as they have food and shelter. “Keep it in the house” is often used so guardians can avoid accountability because children or one of the most vulnerable and oppressed classes of Americans in this country. And when they grow up and speak up about it us as black folk are quick to dismiss them especially if they had food and shelter or some level of privilege. As if that’s all that’s required to be a good decent parent. As if you did them a favor. They didn’t ask to be born. They had no say in the matter; food and shelter is the bare minimum and I need my black folks to raise the bar for love in our households. The state penitentiaries will provide food and shelter too. That should be the benchmark for love and care.

If you are in a situation where you are getting abused you just don't have to take it and suffer in silence by simply blocking the person. We all have story and truths that need to be told, tell it. I’m sorry but Jess and DJ Envy clearly didn’t listen or read this situation to it’s entirety. That’s how misinformation gets spread. Aoki has legitimate concerns about her fathers mental health, being the reason why she recorded the FaceTime because he’s turned verbally and emotionally abusive towards her, her sister and Kimora ever since he’s sued Kimora. This isn’t about them “exposing” him because he stopped giving his daughters money. This is about having a parent that will literally berate you because you won’t choose a side between the two parents, and the smoke and mirrors has to come to an end

@@jbrown7 Because alleged mental illness does not give you the right to abuse, harass and berate your family and they have a right to put up boundaries and he’s ignored those boundaries constantly he’s pushed them to this point. This is a reality check that you can’t mistreat people and expect them to just stfu and deal with it because you’re Papa and family business. This is how (God forbid) family murder suicides happen because that toxic “what happens in this house stays in this house” mentality makes everyone miss the red flags of abuse before it gets to extremes.

Aoki Simmons has a right to share that her father is being abusive towards her. If you don't want people to know you're abusive, don't be abusive. The way this is being discussed by Envy & Jess is concerning. It sounds very much like the victim is being blamed. We have no idea what she has endured as a result of Russell's behavior. The Breakfast Club commentary cannot be taken objectively because obviously they don't want to be canceled. Russell is STILL a powerful man - look at what he's doing to his own daughter in the industry. I feel the hurt of Kimora, Ming and Aoki but I hope they can all patch things up. Those young ladies are such good examples of celebrity children gone good. If you watched Kimora's show years ago, Aoki was always fiesty and would always speak her mind. For her to keep this that long says a lot. And as she said, she WAS the closest to her father and I think we all knew that. Ming was always a mommy's girl so it's no surprise she posted what she did on Father's day...but as Aoki said, Ming is quiet and doesn't bother and again, Ming has been like that from a child if you watched the show. Aoki basically came out to defend her mother and her sister and that's who she is. People may disagree with her method, but Aoki has always been open about mental health and she's clearly principled. We don't know how much the allegations against Russell factors into the fracture of their relationship either. Maybe he wanted public support from them, but their mom may have advised them to stay out of it. Look at what happened to Phylicia Rashad when she came out and supported Cosby. There are consequences and those girls are too young to have the shame of their Father compromise their future. If Russell wants that, he's really being unreasonable. Plus, he didn't hang around to prove his innocence so what do you want them to do? In any event, I hope these guys get past this, I'm sure the girls want a relationship with their father and Russell's ego is probably just hurt because the girls are being protective of their mother. Hopefully Rev Run gets involved. The Simmons children have been more inspirational than otherwise, so I hope this rift can heal quickly.

Somebody at breakfast club got a call to ether not cover this story or if they do paint Aoki as a spoiled petulant child. Imagine if they switched and Kimora was moving like this because the kids sided with with Russell? Oh the gold digging bitches and hoes she would be for harassing treating her children this way. Sometimes parents do absolutely vile and manipulative things to their kids under the shield of being a parent. When you grow up and look at a parent as an equal and critically think about your upbringing, it may change your view on your childhood, especially if your parents are still acting vile. To whatever extent you have a public life it may be necessary to voice some things publicly so people understand why you behave in such a way. When we are young, parents are superheroes. When we grow up we can better see them for who they are. There are a lot of garbage people in the world so it makes sense that there are a lot of garbage parents.

@user-mv7kh5sv9z Full disagree. Growing up or becoming an adult does not make an equal. Life experience, critical thinking ability, knowledge, education, inquisitiveness. These are some of the tools that make an equal, greater or lesser person. Those who are lucky enough to have good and loving parents should look up to them in that sense, but if we can't equal or surpass our parents then we are doomed to dimish and fade as a human race. The goal should be at LEAST to be our parents equal. A deadbeat parent has no right to check an adult child. Producing children is not a skill, but being a good parent is. Far too many people don't care to develop the skill of parenting.

Real healing looks and feels a whole other way than what these people are telling you. When you experience life, you grow and become wiser. Some opinions are just hurt people choosing to stay hurt.
