God, thank you for deliverance from evilness and from wickedness. Thank you for travel safety and thank you for stylish travel. Thank you for helping us get all of our things together in the romance department, the brotherly love department, and the agape love department. I pray that you shower that kind of love down on all of your creation and on me God In Jesus mighty name. Amen 🙏 🤍

C.S. Lewis in Screwtape Letters talks about the real use of pleasure and their complete opposition to anything evil. Pleasure, in itself, is a gift from God, meant to bring joy to the human creature as exactly what it is, provoking genuine, humble, thanksgiving to God. I don't know why, but the way he mentions where he goes to lunch, of all things, at 3:35 and shortly afterwards really strikes me. It's just such a simple delight in a pleasure God has given, completely innocent, and brings obvious joy to his face as exactly what it is. Not something to be hoarded, worshiped, or treasured above all things, but one of the many little gifts God hands out to his children. For some reason, the smile he gives there really moves me and says that I should be like this person and think like this person.

That sounds like how I work well. I’m gonna try it. It’s very creative and Spirit led. You’d have to truly be called to preach to do it that way. 🙏🏽😊. Thank you brother.

A brianstorming with God LOL! I do almost the same thing. It seens so caotic but at the end, if you're in praying, the Spirit makes sense of it.

After studying the text, I ask the Lord, "Speak to my life through this text." If the text doesn't speak to me first, it may be hard to convey the any message to the congregation.

Piper and I almost are similar. The only difference is that I start way, way earlier than on Friday. I study very, very deep like Piper, though. Pray extensively over, and over, and over. Begging God for insight, thanking Him for what He has done and what He will do in my life while I study His Word. Then again, that's just me. God made me specifically for His work, I know that much. lol

That process is taught as 'Brain Storming'. I was taught this method of creative writing in High School. A central Idea or theme and write as many thoughts as you have surrounding this idea or theme, first impressions are the best.

If we can't or don't want to prepare like John Piper, at least one very important component shall we use, and that is prayer while preparing. Most important thing. Without prayer we're nothing

Is there a divinely inspired way of preparing for a sermon? John MacArthur would be shocked to hear this. He spends around forty hours and reads (if I remember correctly) around 15 commentaries before he preaches. Just wondering if you could clarity. Is there a divinely inspired (prescriptive) way of preaching a sermon? So that I could follow it to the dot and be confident that I am prepared to preach the sermon.

Why don't you just get the imformation and simply say the facts on stage that you know about the topic?
@maceawilder7 жыл бұрын
Marcus Brown That seems to leave God out of the prep and the congregation and makes it into teaching, not preaching. Facts are important, don't get me wrong, but they are only the foundation of a sermon. A preacher is to take those facts and use them to connect the congregation with God and draw them closer.

BigMarkzTV a preacher of the word is not a math or biology teacher teaching facts about his subject. Nor can you read scripture like that!
