I really appreciate you doing these reviews with a TH30. I can never find demos that accurately portray what stuff will sound like in my rig. Please keep that up!

I really dig your application of the Hoof as a boost; really gives you great note articulation! I run mine after an Overdrive, so it’s a flame thrower more than a boost. Lol The Hizumitas of the two I think is the winner. It’s got a lot under the hood despite have one knob less than the Hoof. Killer riffs and a great comparison! Cheers!

For me I prefer the hoof as a boost but the hizu as a standalone fuzz
@michaelwallace11892 жыл бұрын
I use it as a mild boost with the fuzz knob at about 8 o clock, on the clean channel with the volume knob turned down about a quarter on my guitar and the pp pot on single coil for the hum and selector on both the hum and p90. I get incredibly clean single notes with just breaking dirty chords. It is beautiful.

I need to try that! I do a similar thing with the green russian reissue

Thumbs up for mentioning the Pharaoh. I have one and am afraid the pharaoh and the hoof sound similar.
@TheDistortionPrinciple Жыл бұрын
I think the pharaoh and now the priestess are probably the winners
@metalehead95 Жыл бұрын
@@TheDistortionPrinciple i also own the special cranker and the acapulco gold. But at the rehearsals, the pharaoh is the king. Best clarity and tone. I use the acapulco gold as a boost for the leads. I don't know which fuzz can top the pharaoh. So maybe i buy an all out fuzz like the fuzzly bear or the park fuzz sound.

Nice video, out of interest, how is the amp dialled in on the first two examples?

Slightly crunchy with the shape knob around 2 oclock if memory serves me well

Thanks!!! How about the Hizumiyas used a boost, the way that you like the Hoof? Does that work for you?
@TheDistortionPrinciple3 жыл бұрын
I think I tried that later in the video. The hoof retains tightness better and kind of smoothly blends in the tone the hizu can do but its going to be more aggressive

Hi I'm Snake. I been drooling over hoof reaper for a while but I already own ehx sovtek deluxe big muff and wren and cuff super russian. Should I get hoof anyways. I've never played one. Thanks

It's in a similar territory as those bit I've also owned the deluxe russian. I'd say the hoof has a bit more clarity abd open tone. You'd probably enjoy it quite alot

Great video as always, what are you settings on the Hoof as a boost? Cheers
@TheDistortionPrinciple2 жыл бұрын
Aww man i appreciate that! Unfortunately i cant remember my settings on it and i dont have it anymore
@Hellbilly19692 жыл бұрын
@@TheDistortionPrinciple apologies for my lack of attention to detail when watching you video, you have the settings on there already as you had the picture running alongside you playing, so it was there already. I've noticed I've been playing my Muffs and Hizumitas with the volume on full, which always sounds odd, so will practice with the volume at a third as most people in this genre seem to do. One other question, do you still have both pedals? Is so which do you prefer?
@TheDistortionPrinciple2 жыл бұрын
@@Hellbilly1969 i don't have both anymore but the hoof is more versatile and smooth the hizumitas is more aggressive of a tone. For my taste id only have the hoof if i could only have one

I've got a Green Carrot Pumpkin Pi, Wren and Cuff Box of War (old big box version), Keeley Psi, Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh, EHX Deluxe Big Muff, Violet Ram's Head clone. Is there anything these EQD pedals can do that my collection of Muffs can't do? I've got other Fuzzes, but they are either 'Faces or 'Benders or some sort of hybrid like the Keeley Son of Fuzz Head or Lovepedal White Dragon. The Hizumitas seems to have a bit of something special going on that I haven't heard in a Muff, at least not of the ones I've played. My Black Arts Pharaoh might come close, or the EHX Deluxe which is crazy underrated as Muff.
@TheDistortionPrinciple2 жыл бұрын
The deluxe is cool as is the pharaoh. The hizumitas has tons of volume and low end and can be very heavy. I'd say you pretty much have what the hoof does already

@@TheDistortionPrinciple I'm kidding, I love those two old geezers on TPS (who are younger than me), but they don't half love to pimp a pedal - without strictly "pimping" it. No money changes hands, so I'm told.
