I had an anxiety attack during mine, right after she started numbing me. The dentist was so sweet though and I think she realized and calmed me down. She just kept telling me to breathe and I focused on that and I was fine. It wasn’t bad. Good luck you guys.

I had 3 cavities filled yesterday on my upper right side of my mouth. Without anesthesia, only one of the teeth hurt when the dentist used the drill on it. (moderate but tolerable pain) I didn’t feel any different after the visit, so no pain or discomfort.

Guys, hear me out. You will feel nervous and scared before they fill the cavity, but you will realize that the procedure isn’t painful at all, in fact a very relaxed one. Usually they will put laughing gas on you to make you feel numb enough for the shots to not feel painful and it really does work. The anasthetics (the shots) will be felt just a tiny bit and only for half a second, and trust me, it’s worth getting that shot. It numbs the whole side of your mouth where you got the shot and you will faintly feel the drill after about thirty seconds. Overall, the procedure is very painless and nothing to worry about. Anyone that has an appointment soon, don’t worry!!! 😁 You got this.

Just like @Ryan said, if you are watching this and nervous about a filling, I promise it will be FINE. I have extreme anxiety about anesthesia and just going to the dentist in general, but I just got back from at least my 5th filling (I have very soft teeth) and am feeling completely normal. Ask your dentist to walk you through the steps or let you listen to music during the procedure. You're in and out in an hour, it's not worth a month of stress. You got this!!!

@@JR_R560 You'll still feel a pinch no matter what. The topical numbing anesthetic definitely helps and makes it so the needle isn't super painful, but it doesn't numb you enough to not feel it at all. I've had over a dozen cavities filled (I didn't take care of my teeth when I was younger), and every single time I felt the needle, it was a painful pinch and definitely is uncomfortable but it only lasts a few seconds so it isn't that bad. But I've never not felt the pinch. And I've gotten the topical anesthetic every single time (and yes they did wait for it to numb me up). Like I said, it helps numb you enough so the pain from the needle isn't severe, but it still is there. Unless I just have sensitive gums or something, and there are people out there that can't feel the needle at all. If there are, I'm jealous of them.

Which in my opinion is the most painful part, but that’s over in like 10 seconds, I have a lot of cavities and I’m not excited to get them filled tomorrow. You will be fine to drive after laughing gas.

@𝓢𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓱 I actually had the filling done two days ago. I can tell you that the only pinch I felt was the numbing shot. My filling is on the right cavity and bottom molar. They take your blood pressure. The numbing shot wore off after three hours. I looked in the mirror once and the right side did look slightly sagging. It didn’t fully sag. The right side didn’t look like a zombie. You don’t feel the drilling. It’s the sound of the drilling that makes you squirm. But again, you don’t feel the drilling. So bring some wireless headphones to listen to music. If the drilling is painful, they give you another numbing shot. Fortunately I didn’t need another shot. You will smell burnt plastic when they are shaping your filling with the drill.

If anyone is getting a filling and is scared: I just got mine done and it’s not bad. They give you this gel so the needle won’t hurt as much, and it’s only a sting that lasts a second, and not a very intense sting either. The scraping might feel sensitive and if it does they’ll just numb you more. After a few minutes into the tooth you feel absolutely nothing Remember, the dentist wants to make sure you feel the least pain possible

That’s a. Root canal! They drill a hole in your tooth, get rid of all the tooth decay and infection, remove the nerves and fill it. Then they’ll fill your tooth with temporary filling and then you’ll get a crown put in a few weeks later :0 I had one down 2-3 days ago

Just had my first fillings today 4 done. It was fairly painless, I was numbed enough. For anyone getting this done it’s not that bad and you don’t have to worry, I was very anxious leading up to it and it was easier than I imagined. I think getting braces on hurt more tbh. But for anyone who has this coming up it’s okay! You’ll feel anxious and that’s to be expected. Yes there are some points were you can feel something but it’s so minor you won’t be bothered, as of writing this I’m currently letting the novocaine wear off. Yes the novocaine will feel funny while it’s wearing off. But the procedure itself wasn’t painful at all. Good luck to anyone who has this coming up soon.

Hello! So I’m back now. I went into the room and got numbing cream and laughing gas. I did not get a shot due to how tiny my cavity was. The only thing that I felt was...well....the best way to explain it is when you bite down with your front teeth into ice cream....that’s how it felt. It was just cold. Again everybody will have a different experience but it’s absolutely nothing at all to worry about. 💗

Got 4 fillings today. I’m he’ll dramatic so trust me when I say it did not hurt a thing. An extraction is far more painful. This was a walk in a park. The only thing I had a challenge with is keeping my mouth opened for a very long time. It’s tiring, however the dentist told me to take as many breaks as I wanted. 13:00 I had the procedure done and by 16:00 I was having beef stew 🤷‍♀️ The anesthesia had worn off a bit. Lol also I was talking funny 😁.. you’d think I have a lisp. Finally my dentist trauma is gone

The worst part isn’t the drilling because you can’t even feel that, it’s probably getting some shots in your mouth. But don’t worry about this either! They put a numbing agent in your mouth so you literally barely feel them at all. So what I’m trying to say is that once you get over the entirety and fear after a few minutes into the procedure you’ll be completely fine

I went in for a cleaning today and X-rays. My teeth didn’t shift since I don’t wear my retainer(I had braces for about 3 1/2 years) and I have three cavities. I don’t floss, but watching this video gives me an insight of what would happen and how it’s done. I did the same thing how wisdom teeth was done and I didn’t have anxiety when it came to that day. It makes me feel better to see what the procedure would be like.

Hey everyone I just had my tooth filled in and I was really nervous about it(since it was my first one hopefully my last)😬 but the second I got in there all the worries went it really isn't bad at all I had 1 needle and didn't feel a thing I just found a place to look at on the ceiling and just concentrated on that spot I promise you it's done quite fast and the drilling was actually quite relaxing you'll be fine go get it done before it gets worst 😌

Every time I thought about getting my cavities filled I had a small crying fit and I started to hyperventilate. I just knew it was going to be the worst experience in the world. Fast forward 2 days later I got five cavities filled, and I am extremely happy that I got it done. The dentist I went to, I felt absolutely no pain. Even after the numbness wore off everything feels great. I mean with the exception of a couple teeth feeling different. Telling someone it's no big deal just get it done is easier said than done, I still have to get four wisdom teeth taken out and I still have crying fits over it. I will tell you if you don't get it done and you have to get a root canal that's going to be 10 times worse.

In the past, I’ve only had to get a few fillings here and there. This time thought, I had to get 3 at the same time. I was really worried. But I can tell you it wasn’t bad at all. If you’re getting a series of shots, only the first one hurts just a little (if any). After that there is no pain at all. Don’t worry about it and push through it! Mine only took about an hour for 3 small cavities.

for anybody panicking about getting a filling- i had a filling done today and have needle trauma so needless to say i was absolutely horrified. this is how it went- basically they first gave me the numbing gel and let it sit for a few minutes. and it worked absolute WONDERS. i have a really low pain tolerance and i literally didn’t feel the needle at all. i didn’t even notice they put it in. the worst part about it all was the drilling. it hurt a bit but it was definitely not bad, and the drilling part didn’t last very long anyways. the filling part was super easy and no pain there whatsoever. the whole procedure only lasted about 30 minutes, and most of it was just them re-filling my tooth. so for anyone who’s about to get this done- YOU CAN DO IT! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

There are some people who would have the effect of the anesthetic wearing off faster due to the anxiety during treatment. And also it depends on the anesthetic type to make the numbness stays longer or shorter.

I use these videos to show my toddler (4) why he needs to brush in the morning, at night, and after any piece of candy. Works like a charm! He hates shots. The idea of a shot in his mouth has him mortified. He sees the dentist every 6 months and does great, so he is not afraid of the dentist. But the moment he finishes eating candy he starts yelling "I have to brush my teeth!"

marley cymon oh buddy... I was in the worst dental pain of my life. Worst in my life besides my really bad periods. It was only afterwards tho. And the canal was really deep so it hurt badly. It’s still sensitive with my new crown lol but I just got that a week ago. Just take pain reliever afterwards and if it’s really bad ask for something better. I only had one and on my front tooth which is the easiest because there’s only one canal. Molars have two to three

I got my belly button piercing last week and that hurt like a mf😂 so even tho I will anxious I’m going to trust in myself that I’ll be alright. I had 5 done, plus the back of my two front teeth. I was really disappointed because my dentist is big on making a calm/quiet environment and explaining what’s going to happen, but they didn’t do that this time…the local going in my front gums and up through the nerve into my nose/ears gave me a panic attack, and then the right side didn’t want to numb so I had intense nerve pain from the drill until they re-tried the numbing *twice*. Needless to say I wish I’d watched this beforehand, and I’m definitely going to do better with my brushing from now on because all of that sucked.

I just had one. Once they get the needle into your gum it's smooth sailing. Trust me, the worst thing about it is not being able to eat for a few hours afterwards. Nothing to worry about

As someone going thru some pretty extensive dental procedures right now, and someone who has had a LIFELONG fear of the dentist due to 2 very bad experiences with novocaine not working effectively I will say that I went too long without proper dental care and I found a dentist who assured me the dental work I had done before was not done properly and I wouldn't feel a thing. I have now had 5 visits- 3 tooth extractions including an impacted wisdom tooth, and a tooth that had to be "elevated" (basically there's not enough tooth to grab with forceps so it has to be dug out of from below your gum line), a root canal, and several fillings and I will be getting implants in and crowns in the spaces of extractions. Bottom line: he had truly nearly completely rid me of my fear of dentist's. He said there's other types of nococaine and he knows how to effectively numb me and he meant it. So far I have felt nothing. He's efficient and does an excellent job. These videos can make things look a lot more scary than things really are.
