Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

I have been ignoring this desire of even trying acting for a while because I thought less of myself basically or thought my life was was not lined up for go after it. After ignoring it I’ve gotten DRAINED of my everyday life.... just going though the motions of working to make ends meet. Literally feeling forced to be happy but in my alone time thinking and imagining how it would be if I could express myself on a theater stage or start the journey to learn this craft. Only enjoying the audience is in my head ( I hope this makes since) listening to his story and experience has lifted me and I feel my zeal coming alive. I going to do this!

For the longest time I’ve wanted to be an actor, it means something. It makes me feel like I’m doing something and for the longest time I wouldn’t accept that I wanted this, but now that I’ve accepted this and am taking classes and have these goals of going to the city to make a name for myself I’m ready. I’m gonna do it. I implore anyone else to do the same, we are artists, we are meant for something. Staying in the same spot isn’t what life means to me.

Hearing his story is so moving and inspirational. I’m an aspiring actor and literally quit my job to start pursuing acting. I’ve been on the fence about a lot of stuff such as quitting my job, trying to get out of retail to do something more flexible. Literally was feeling defeated and wanting to give up. Hearing his story and the obstacle that he over cane and faced. And the break up that he dealt with moved me because I’ve realized that as an actor you’re going to have similarities and down falls, rejections, you name it; taking that leap of faith and truly pursing in your dream and allowing life and the universe take the wheel things fall into place. I’m still in my first year and with so much information and knowledge thrown my way it’s a lot to take in but seeing that I’m not alone and I can overcome it is a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing this. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Thank you for this video it resonated with me. I'm African American and I'm from Chicago and I've always known I wanted to become an actor. there were situations where people(strangers) would tell me at my jobs that either I should be singing because of my voice or doing something on stage because of my personality and humor. the only problem is I haven't found the courage to "just do it." you know, interestingly enough i have just impulsively watched a long video on the behind the scenes of a harry potter movie, and i know this is the absolute last thing i should be doing, considering the fact that i have other responsibilities. im 14 so im still in school, and my grades have been slipping. im trying my hardest, yes. but i do find my mind wandering off school more and more. i searched up the words " how do i know if i want to become an actor " because honestly, the idea of being in a movie is incredible. i mean as more of a creative than academic person, i take interst in art, music, and most importantly movies. whenever i see a film i find myself wondering how amazing of an experience it would be to be on the set of that movie. movies combine music, emotion, talent, and make viewers experience all kinds of feels- joy, sorrow, you name it. truth is recently my passion for acting has been growing stronger and stronger and im wondering whether or not this is what im meant to do.

It's the time to follow my life, to follow my real self, to follow my PASSION..Even somebody puts gun on me and says leave your Acting Career otherwise I will kill you..still I will say kill me because if I live my Acting Career it would be the same THe life of a dead person... Being able to turn into a new character is what makes it seem fun. If I could have one type of job it be director or actor. I love the entertainment industry. Zendays said in an Interview: only do it if you love it. And i dont know, if i do... I went to actingshool, i'm an actress. But due to health issues i couldnt work after my acting graduation. I dont know anymore if i want to do that. If i want to be an actress. I'm scared and feel ashamed of myself. They will see who i am. I feel sick, anxious and have a headache when i think about going back on stage. I have so much anxiety. Or being on camera. I'm a women and ive started to get wrinkles. I feel ashamed of that also. Because we all know thats not allowed for women. I'm not perfect. Not perfect anymore. I was never perfect to begin with, but i kind of thought it. My ego was bigger at that time. Now my ego isnt as loud anymore and i feel insecure. I think about that decision, being an actress, everyday. And on most days im certain i will never ever go back. But on other days there is this voice, or this longing. Why cant i make a final decision? Why cant i let this behind me and move on? Maybe because i should be an actress? I dont know. I think my anxiety wants to tell me to quit for good. But why cant i move on???

Don't get me wrong; I loved 'em all... BUT if I had to choose, the Contrarian in me likes the Opera House Story best... Stereotypically, Opera-folks have a pretentiousness about them, and it's always just a little more fun when someone can show up "completely out of character" and take those types down a peg or two... OR maybe I'm just biased because I seem to have a "running theme" in my own life, never to show up "looking prepared"... AND I almost never "fit in" in quite exactly the traditional method or just so many syllables... It's worth note that only SOMEtimes, it can cost me. Most of the time, being the Contrarian has only led to an advantage for "standing out" from the crowd. ;o)

Audition for plays to start. Local theater, whatever you can get your hands on.All you have to do to act is audition. Just go out and do it. I auditioned for my first play a month ago with no prior experience and landed two big roles. The only thing stopping you from pursuing acting is yourself.

This may be a bit late, but give it a shot. For myself it was pretty recent, but I am already getting ready to get into as many classes as I can to grow in acting. At my current level I wouldn't make it through auditions without them thinking "Who is this kid and what is he doing". Don't think you can't do it, but if it's for you and you want to be good at it, set a goal for yourself and don't give up.

Nothing useful here. Just basic common sense advice that every actor should know by now. Lesson learned is that you don't want to be actor. Be a film maker or director because they call the shots. Some directors star in their own movie instead of waiting for someone to cast them in a movie. Just remember that while you are using up your valuable youth trying to "make it" in Hollywood there are others busy investing in the stock market and real estate. In 20 years, chances are they will be retired because they made smart financial decisions while you are still struggling to get another acting job. Let that thought sink in.

Money isn’t the reason actors act. They do it because they love it. If you love it, you work hard at it. Success comes to those that work hard.

What an awful mindset you have, and also a terrible message you’re spreading. Chances are in 20 years, you’ll still be sitting writing negative cynical youtube comments directed towards young people pursuing their dream. Just because other people choose to have fun with their life doesn’t mean you get to tear them down.
