How does the contrast pivot work in Davinci Resolve 18?

When I adjust the pivot it doesn't change my image at all. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hello to have a pivot you should aded contrast first, or it doesn't work.

If you match the pivot to the middle grey point of whatever color space you are in - the contrast will look better on the whole image. So if in slog - 3 .420 but in Davinci Intermediate set the pivot point to .344 - this will maintain the DPs intended exposure - When you change that pivot your are actually changing the middle grey and the exposure. Which is okay, if that's your intention. Just adding to your explanation.

Hi. It's me again. For the sake of demonstration, I would have suggested you go with a totally linear ramp (are you working behind a LUT or other color managed workflow maybe?). While not wrong about what is happening, it's not very apparent with that funky ramp (more of a curve than a ramp) you got going on.

Funky ramp, nice. I'm working with colour managed work flow. That linear ramp would've been a good idea. Cheers for the suggestion and funky ramp
