I can answer that question you need to see what the tap water reading is by using a tds meter basically it tells you how many minerals are in the water This will tell you what purification system you need If you are in a soft water are with a reading of 150ppm then u need a di vessel If ur 300ppm hard water area then ro system is required An ro system comprises Four to five filters which filter out dirt rust silt heavy metal chlorine lead etc the ro membrane remove scale salt etc which changes the water appearance takes out 98 percent of what is in the water the di vessel polishes the water bringing it down to zero It just removes a small amount of anything that may be missed during the purification Soft water 150ppm or less uses a basic di vessel which is a canister holding a di mixed bead resin which can be one or two filters this filters and purifies the water bringing it to zero This helps answers ur question but tap water can’t be used in a pump fed system as it would scale up the pump and cause high maintenance costs

Amazing summery Barry, as for my particular system and area, water here is around 500 ppm, we use 1 large multi stage prefilter & 1 large membrane fed with a high pressure pump, this is done at base. my water is then put through a di vessel in the van before it hits your glass, to guarantee pure water hits the glass.
