Half way through one job interview I realised that the job wasn’t for me, so I just stopped it and said that they were not a good fit for me, thanked them and ended the meeting. To say that they were surprised is an understatement. I've only worked *late* twice and both were in the same week. The first was me needing to make up time from a dentist appointment when I couldn't use sick leave yet. I don't know if it's typical across America, but my company requires us to have been there for 6 months before we can use sick leave or vacation time. A little scary, but I don't get sick often anymore. The other time was purely on me, and it was because we needed to get a submittal out the door the next business day. Both of us worked late. I'm also defining "late" differently, as at that point we had moved to a 9 hour M-Th and 4 hour Friday, so I ended up working what was previously a full Friday along with my PM. Unfortunately I was not able to collect overtime or lieu time, but it was completely on me. My PM didn't ask me to stay; I just felt that I needed to for the sake of the project.
