Lets put it this way, the only reason hillary is the running democrat is because along with good ideas, she also shares lies. Not just about Donald (im not saying everything about Donald is wrong or right, both of them have issues), but about some things she assures us she would do. Bernie on the other hand is clean and respected but doesn't have anything too impactful for the American people, and needless to say he looks like he'd die any day now.

Te pig Trump, Hillary, and Bernie are literally all 70, and two of them have vanity problems. I don't care what they looks like. Te pig I never said "better," first off Second, if you seriously single-handedly change the platform of a political party, it's because of the support he has from people who either would be impacted by the change or feel that they would be impacted by the change. I don't know what issues you're looking at, but Bernie changed the conversation this year in a big way. Also, I'm just wondering, but don't Republicans like to block any change 'cuz America's the best country in the world or whatever?

WillyTheComposer Trump's 'take the oil' and 'to the victor goes the spoils' rhetoric indicates an imperialist mentality. Also, we as a modern, globalist society do not believe in imperialism. Our nation was founded on anti-imperialism. Are you suggesting the Redcoats had it right?
@awsomeadam28 жыл бұрын
Donald Trump literally said we should invade to take their oil. That is LITERALLY the definition of Imperialism.
@WillyTheComposerOfficial8 жыл бұрын
Firstly, Merriam Webster defines imperialism as: the policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas; broadly : the extension or imposition of power, authority, or influence. Now we as Americans may say we don't like imperialism, but how we behave is quite different. What is manifest destiny? Or the cession of Florida, the Louisiana Purchase, or the annexation of California? What about our occupation of West Germany? What about the proxy wars we fought against Communists, sending our troops to fight and die in foreign civil wars in support of our own economic ideology? Why do we intercede in Middle Eastern wars and don't leave until they establish democracy, our chosen system? Why do we spend more on the military than the next 8 nations combined? Why do we have military bases in dozens of foreign countries, and on every inhabitable continent? Why do we own territories so far away that it's a different time of day there? Hell, why have we even made territorial claims on Antarctica? Because WE ARE IMPERIALISTS, AS WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN. We left the British Empire as a rejection of the crown, and as show of support for democracy, not to reject imperialism, but to start our own empire. In that vein we took after mother quite well. Donald Trump may be an imperialist, but do you really think Hillary Clinton, someone who spent decades in the American political machine, who as Secretary of State visited more foreign leaders than any previous secretary, doesn't want to impose American power, authority, and influence? Give me a break.

@charlesissleepy8 жыл бұрын
many complaints about his ideas come from a position of ignorance about alternative constructs of international affairs. The man has the eloquence of an eight year old but some fundamental concepts of his approach to policy are pretty viable. The american defense budget is grossly bloated. Our military regularly commits acts of state funded terrorism throughout the world, manipulating world markets with strongarm politics veiled in soft power. All he is really proposing is to be less hypocritical and more pragmatic about our role in the world. Its an oversimplified understanding of our position as world leader (a position we will break ourselves maintaining) but not necessarily an erroneous one. The bulk of our current world policy is based on a double standard under which the US is a force for good worldwide, a liberator, which justifies our frequent employment of violence or the threat of it, while simultaneously deploring any similar behavior in other sovereign states, for example when they make attempts to arm themselves for defense
@charlesissleepy8 жыл бұрын
tl;dr we position ourselves to have a monopoly on violence, and trump is just extending that train of thought rationally (and amorally). Through decades of white-knighting around the world, we've created the system by which he'll be able to raise hell

The only thing I care more about than politics, is unbiased media. Which this clearly isn't. Just like Fox News is too emotionally biased on Clinton, CNN is on Trump ( a lot more though). Vox is conciously leaving out information, and nitpicking on what they inform and convulge to make Trump seem much worse than he actually is. A lot of the quotes are out of context aswell highlighted as his official opinions. Yet they mention nothing about the fact that Hillary essentially is unfit for the presidency, just like Gary Johnson, but rather hail her as a political saint.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually agree with Trump on this subject. The idea that America is the World Police is an antiquated one today, and we can still maintain good foreign relations and foreign policy without the promise of defense or foreign military intervention. Trump is absolutely right in saying allies like Japan and South Korea are more than capable of defending themselves and building their defense programs, whether or not this involves nukes. USA foreign policy should be entirely mercantile and trade-based, there is no need for defensive pacts anymore.
@uknwtheusername8 жыл бұрын
America doesn't need its global military bases or the pressure of backing everyone militarily to be an important figure in NATO. The fact of the matter is none of that has been necessary since the end of the Cold War, and America's relationships with its allies (such as Germany or Japan) aren't so fickle that the US backing out of armament packs would be disastrous. The USA should leverage its global position economically, not through the promise of nukes and military defence. Your idea of the USA becoming obsolete and unnecessary in the world theatre if it chooses a policy of de-armament or isolationism is completely untrue. Trump's way of going about it is crude and could be harmful to foreign relations, but the idea behind it is not at all wrong. America should withdraw its military from around the world and focus on its socio-economic problems. Maybe catch up to the 21st century by implementing a public health system that actually works, like the NHS in England.
@mangalores-x_x8 жыл бұрын
uknwtheusername All countries are fickle about strategic concerns. Germany has been courting Russia and only US being commited in NATO is the reason it is not courting Russia more because absent the US a deal with German-Russian axis is the simplest solution to all of Germany's strategic concerns economically and militarily. People ignore that the world wars happened _after_ Germany and Russia had chopped up all of Eastern Europe into their spheres of influence and being great friends. It can be done again Germany had been a great trading partner to the US before WW1. Didn't change where the strategic interests lay. The US' global position largely rests on being commited in all aspects including security. If the US stops that and only wants to be economics... well, they just reduced themselves to China and India in their relationships and will be treated accordingly and countries will address their shift in security accordingly. Neither the world nor the US will benefit.. .
@uknwtheusername8 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Since WW2, Germany hates Russia. In fact the US is closer to Russia than Germany atm. And we should all court Russia, rather than this old Cold War remnant of strong-arming Russia into submission with out military. Guess what, Americans don't want to admit it but the Russian military is just as good if not better than the US, and that's not my opinion, that was said by an American general. Some of our ground infantry is severely out classed by Russia's. We should be trying to ally ourselves with them. And this whole idea of global defense is what's caused most of the problems in our country today. Our terrorism problem as a whole is because of it! Idk in what sheltered world you think the US's military is what is keeping relations intact and foes at bay, because that is simply not the truth. America's only real power today is its economic say in the global economy.
@mathew633man8 жыл бұрын
If you agree with Trump on foreign policy, you are one ignorant guy. This is one of the reasons why Trump will never be president because he has no clue what he's talking about and he can't see the big picture of everything. It's not as simple as just leaving them alone because they can take care of themselves. The US military presence can effectively deter invasion from North Korea, China, and Russia. Also, if Japan and South Korea get attacked, US military is already there to counteract the enemy forces very quickly and efficiently. Learn why South Korea was invaded in the first place. It happened right after US decided to withdraw its troops there and North Korea saw it as an opportunity to seize South Korea. Deterrence is more important than winning a war because once a war begins, everything including economy will collapse and be destroyed. Even if US stays entirely mercantile and trade-based, that is not possible when its allies get attacked all the time and there is no stability to make trade in the first place. Also, if the US does not prevent North Korea from developing nuclear weapons, other countries will see it as an opportunity to make their own nukes and it will be like a domino effect that can't be stopped unless the US stops it again. There are so many more reasons why the US military presence is crucial to world security especially allies' security.
@uknwtheusername8 жыл бұрын
This is simply not true. China has no intentions from invading anyone, and the US is serving as absolutely 0 deterrent to this. North Korea won't attack South Korea not because of the US, but because South Korea is far more advanced than NK in technology and military (something which wasn't true when the US removed forces in the past, back then they were pretty much even; now its like saying Bulgaria will invade Germany if it could. No! the countries are decades apart in terms of technology and economy). Many studies have shown that nuclear deterrence is ineffective, at best, and the US's presence in the East is doing nothing at all form deterring NK from trying to build nuclear weapons (which they are currently doing and failing, even with the US presence. The US has minimal impact on their nuclear armament intentions). And I don't know why you think that if the US backs down this second nuclear arms race will begin and have a 'domino' effect, this is simply not true at all. Most peaceful and civilised countries in the world today have no nuclear ambitions or intentions to invade other countries. Your way of thinking, as I've said before, is extremely antiquated and acts as the Cold War had never ended. None of our allies are thankful for the US's presence; we've become a pest and an annoyance to most of the world, and it is because of your backwards old-school way of thinking.

Another good video Vox, although you do mislead quite significantly on the Nato issue. Your writer concedes that Trump is right on the "fair share" payment, he is not. It should be fully acknowledged that 5 out of the 28 do pay the required 2%. By saying "almost no countries do it" is an unfairly superficial analysis. Moreover, when Trump talks of paying in to NATO, he suggests that the other NATO countries pay the US to defend them, this is profoundly incorrect. As you are analysing in detail his attitude to NATO you should also properly acknowledge Trump's false understanding of how NATO works and clarify for the viewer that the 2% is not cash terms going into one single NATO pot, but 2% spent on defence which is then available for NATO missions. Your omission of this fundamental difference weakens your analysis, and gives Trump more credit than he deserves.
