@Rice Eatr420 I grew up playing the dkc trilogy the dkc returns happens, I'm like yes its back I play and it's not dkc it's just a dk game like dk64 was..a okay platform error, but it's not dkc like they claim, tropical freeze is closer , but still not dkc, cause they stuck with the crappy on shoulder assist tool set up fir who was companion in original that you could actually switch to and play as wich add to the gamppu were wha6 returns and tropical did, wich takes away from the over all gameply

Amazing history of this amazing game. I remember having great memories of playing this game and it’s sequel and hearing the story of its development was interesting and inspiring. Especially the part where 94 percent of was completed in the last 5 months. While it’s impressive I hope there wasn’t too much stress in the last 5 months but you can tell they put their passion into this game.

This was the first ever Donkey Kong game I’ve ever played I always associated Donkey Kong with the Mario series back then as a kid growing up in the 2000’s but I never knew just how far the two series separated in the mid 90’s giving Donkey Kong his own identity Just seeing the announcement on Nintendo Channel back in 2010 gave me an idea of just how massive this comeback was and how much it meant to so many people Many years later and this series has now become one of my favorite of all time, I just hope we get a new game soon whether it be by retro or the rumored in house Nintendo EDP game

I hope Retro gets to make an original IP someday. Both the Metroid and DKC revivals are masterful adaptations, but their biggest strengths in my eyes are all the original ideas they bring to these titles. Would love to see what they could do if they were left to their own devices.

It's overdue to return yet again I'd say. I hope that the next studio can knock it out of the park the same way Retro did ( hopefully with more familiar faces from the SNES era ), I gotta admit, hearing that it's supposedly being done in-house makes me nervous, i'm sure the gameplay will be great but i'm more worried about the characters and universe of DK that I've come to love.

I do agree that DKC is perfect, of course Returns is different but it really captures what made the original Donkey Kong Country good and made it times better, with a smoother, faster, and more satisfying gameplay experience, combined with a larger viewport of the area making it much better to play in. I'd give it a 10/10 for sure, although I think Tropical Freeze is slightly better, with more originality and fairness in difficulty. But they're pretty much as good, and both masterpieces.

I heard rare actually pitched making a DKC4 for a nintendo handheld after they finished up the GBA port of 3. And maybe it was the sales of the GBA ports doing well or rare planting the seed of making a DKC4 that made nintendo decide to greenlight a continuation, but they probably wanted something better than a handheld game so that's where Rares involvement stopped with the series.

Tropical Freeze was a masterpiece... and I always say DKC 3, 2 and 1 are my favorite games of all time, in that order. But DKC returns was ruined for me by the motion controls. I don't want to shake the remote to roll...Tropical Freeze got it right though.

As a huge Donkey Kong fan I have to say I’m incredibly disappointed with Nintendo on how they’ve treated Donkey Kong is super frustrating my personal opinion I wish they would cancel Metroid Prime 4 and work on Donkey Kong Country instead while reviving RavenBlade, MetaForce and Thunder Rally. I can’t wait for overrated franchises like Mario, Zelda and Metroid to go extinct and be replaced by Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox Adventures, RavenBlade, MetaForce, Thunder Rally along with acquisitions Banjo, Conker, Kameo, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct from Rareware.

Tropical freeze fucking slaps, the games difficulty is probably the most balanced i have ever seen in a videogame. It's not an easy game, but it's also not frustrating. The fact that they managed to bring back David Wise to make a new soundtrack was amazing, even starting over a level was fun, because of the music of each stage. It's not a perfect game, but damn if retro studios doesn't make the next donkey kong, i feel sorry for the next developers that will work on it.

I have very little love for the Wii. Mainly the battery powered remote. All the games I played are GameCube or use the GameCube controller. Just Why can’t I use the GameCube controller on DKC return and Mario Wii? Seriously the Wii using batteries is the reason the game cube is hocked up and the Wii is in the closet
