I grew up in a family who owned 3 Dunkin Donuts, when it was all about the donuts. I saw my father hand cut all the donuts, except the cake donut. I worked in the kitchen, where each one was hand filled and frosted. Those were the days when a dozen donuts only cost 99 cents. Wow. That makes me really old. Working in a family run business shaped my work ethic. I was proud of my parents who took such pride in producing a great product. Now, I see Krispy Kreme donuts sell for $16 a dozen. Crazy!

Dunkin's used to be great. Do you remember the " Time to make the Doughnuts" commercials? Back when Dunkin Doughnuts used to make their own doughnuts fresh in house every day. Gone are those days. Now today everything is factory made. If I want a great doughnut today, I go to Market Basket in Mass where the Doughnuts are made fresh and light as clouds. Not the lead bombs that Dunkin sells today.

Dunkins has cheaped things from years ago. Very few locations make their own donuts. For example, where I live, a bakery services more than 50 shops. Dunkins has also lowered the quality of their Baskin Robbins ice cream. Quite simply, it just have the same good taste of years ago.

Is this even true? Dunkin Donuts recipe was given out? I am pretty sure that was a homemade recipe for donuts and not necessarily what Dunkin Donuts is using. There are pre-made mixes with mono and diglycerides and artificial flavor, etc. Not even fried.
