For resetting the trophy garden pokemon you don't actually have to change your system clock, all you have to do is just save before you talk to mr. Backlot, then soft reset until you get the pokemon you want. I've done it several times. Hope this helps for future videos.

Confuse ray has 100% accuracy, which is why it was landing so often at Fantina’s Gym. If you were using double team on Staravia and it kept landing, that’s just unlucky.

Fun Fact, every single route has a decent sized chunk of grass specifically for radar hunting. They designed the routes for this mechanic. There is only one section I can think of that isn't like this and has a radar exclusive Pokemon being Sunkern. That is on Route 204 North which has no good patch of grass to hunt in making it near impossible to actually get a chain up. Hell, when I radar hunted Sunkern, I got lucky and got a shiny patch on an 18 chain

All the videos and guides i've seen on the Pokéradar with no clarity on how to make it work reasonably consistently, and this dude just says "Go to the shaking patch 4 steps away" and it instantly made clear how to do it

So here's a nice tip that probably might have a bit a massive difference. Cute charm has an odd quirk related to pokeradar shiny chaining. In platinum _specifically,_ if your secret ID matches a certain set of numbers of a pokemon's ivs with cute charm, the pokeradar's chance of spawning a shiny is cut in half. This is because the pokemon instead of focusing on the male gender, the game forces the gender to be female, or vice versa, similar to how the love ball was broken in gen 2 to the same species and _gender_

just a minor correction about BDSP time travel, you actually can time skip for trophy garden (and swarms) in BDSP. it requires changing your time zone (with time set to automatically sync) as changing the clock in this way does not trigger the time travel protection, and you can just set it to the next day before reopening the game, changing it back to the previous day while the game is running, saving, and repeating. it's essential for BDSP CEA.

I tried figuring out this crap a few years back in X and Y and just couldn't get it down, even with guides. The first 10 minutes of this video explained it better than anything else I ever found and now I've gotten 4 shinies in 3 hours through Poké Radar. I now suddenly hate that this video didn't come out in 2019 because it would've saved me a lot of time, and an immense amount of patience.

Actually want to clarify something, the 2% chance of the chain breaking only counts for the patches of grass that shake immediately after the encounter. When the Pokeradar item is used by the press of a button, the chances will always peak at 88%.

This to me is still the best pokemon game made. The pokedex was complete with every evolution finished perfectly cant see them without that last stage. The game was perfect still hard to get shinies so they are actually bragg able. Finishing the dex on this game is a mad grind but so satisfying.

for future reference, you could have used the poké radar at lake verity. if you surf to the south-western part of the lake there's a big square patch of grass for it the only radar-able route in sinnoh that lacks a big patch to chain in is the northern half of 204, which for some reason is a separate area from the southern half

As someone who has done a good amount of chaining in pokemon diamond (not nearly 100 hours though Jesus John) I can say that it can be very frustrating! Especially when you get feast or famine luck, for example my first successful chain was larvatar and I did it only knocking them out and I did it first try, but after that I had horrible luck chaining while actually catching pokemon. It can be very disheartening, but also very rewarding!

Awesome video. It motivated me to start some pokeradar chaining myself. I am in the same boat, as a kid I always thought it was fascinating but I was certainly too dumb to properly execute it. Slight correction/clarification though for anyone who is interested: Edge and corner patches don't have a higher chance to break the chain per se, just that AFTER the encounter you can become unlucky and all 4 grass patches would theoretically fall outside of the grass area breaking the chain as a consequence, because there is no visible shaking grass around. Since the 4 patches summon in a grid around you, if you are fully surrounded by grass the immediate 8 patches directly around you will always spawn another shaking grass patch and give you the chance to reset the pokeradar withouth breaking the chain. I found that sometimes the risk is worth it to go for an edge piece in order to not lose the additional 10 percent you get from catching a pokemon since you revert back to the 88 % when resetting the radar.

I have a story about the one shiny on the wheel you didn't catch, and one of the hardest pokemon to radar hunt due to the miniscule grass patch: sunkern. Back in 2020 my brother bought a copy of Pokemon Diamond right as covid hit, and spent a ton of time playing that game. When he finished it, I asked if I could try to complete the Pokedex in that game and as he had no patience for catching a ton of Pokemon or grinding to evolve them he said I could. I spent so much time catching as many Pokemon as I could in that game, eventually getting up to around 300 or so, without being able to trade at all. Anyway, I had gone to the route to catch sunkern. I used the radar, walked to the first shaking patch, and boom. Shiny. Full odds, first sunkern I'd encountered in the game, and my first shiny pokemon ever that wasn't the Gyarados in GSC. Let me tell you no one has ever loved a sunkern like I loved that little guy. I fed him poffins, took him to contests, did so much grinding. I was going to fight the league with him but like 2 weeks after I encountered it the game crashed, file got corrupted, and it reset.

I think the game makes a backup file to prevent that, like it will keep both the current save and the last one and I think there must be a way to access the last one since that is the whole point of that mechanic. Now I do know its used for exploiting glitches at least, but it sucks to have lost the file

I know this was half a year ago but the chain randomly breaking is actually 12% chance in the gen 4 games to randomly break meaning 88% chance for the chain to continue if you go into the patch 4 steps away. If you catch the pokemon you encounter, ONLY the next 4 patches that appear on ur screen have a buffed up chance to 98%. If you catch a pokemon, then reset the pokeradar, the chances go back down to 88% so most of the time, ur chain will break at a 12% rate randomly.
