xxnike629xx The analysis shouldn't stop there - the fact that it's expected doesnt make it right. The fact that such absurd wealth exists simultaneously with absolute poverty, and that it is EXPECTED and NORMALISED is a moral horror and indictment of the present politico-economic system.

If millions of people pay because she is in a movie, then she deserves to be paid accordingly. The issue is not that she earns millions, the issue is the millions of people who chose to pay for a movie ticket instead of donating to the poor. As always, people complain about all sort of things but actually they themselves are the problem
@ThinkerNinja
@ThinkerNinja 6 жыл бұрын
onx the people who have the most power have the mpst responsibility. Marketing and advertising have influence over every aspect of our lives in this society. Rich people pour billions into those jndustries to convince people to buy their products, and what youre saying is that us poorer people simply need to toughen up, transcend psychology and not watch movies ever and never have fun and instead give all our money to charity, instead of getting rich people who are paid exorbitant salaries to contribute money they dont even require and would otherwise spend needlessly on luxury to help society e.g. by not avoiding taxes (which would make more of a dent in tackling social issues than a 9-5 yuppie who's struggling to afford a house donating their movie ticket costs). Yes people should help when they can, but who do you think truly has the most responsibility here? You think movie stars work hard? The factory workers, janitors, nurses and pro bono lawyers of the world and so on work ten times harder and often live miserably. What does it mean to 'deserve' something? The ability to manipulate people through marketing? That just means that people who have lots of money already deserve more money than everyone else. Not a great moral statement there.

@alirakkara6874 6 жыл бұрын
I guess knowing how to fix something worldwide doesnt mean a single solution, but rather a single mindset and goal. Its not really about doing it yourself, but convincing others to join you. And if you play it right, then fate takes care of itself

Organise on a grassroots level to challenge and ultimately dismantle hierarchical exploitative systems. Support labour unions against unscrupulous executives and detached profit-driven shareholders. Democratise social services like healthcare and education. Support worker cooperatives. Oppose privatisation. Educate others and yourself. It starts with calling out the systems in place you see as fundamentally unfair. These are all causes amongst many worth fighting for, and everyone can do it. We all have to cultivate our moral sensibilities by recognising and then identifying with those who have the least power in society - the poor, the disabled, the ill, and so on - and working to represent their interests against those oppress them and the rest of us.

Thank you Alirak Kara! And Storge, I live abroad, and other than keeping up with news, and going out to vote, call my congress men and women (since I'm American) and donate to organizations that help, I'm more at a loss . If you or anyone has ideas on what to do while living abroad I'm open to it. However, I still have to be careful what stuff I do get involved with, ie not protests because I could then be deported. TIA
@ThinkerNinja

Betsy That's great that you do those things already. since it's a global struggle, if you can affect local politics i think that can be useful too but im not familiar with how an expat status affects things e.g. union membership (though i assume it doesnt). Any community volunteer work is very helpful though really. I think the most important thing is to join some sort of group that meets up in real life. That way it's easier to maintain motivation and a sense of direction, and feel that you're part of a movement rather than just an individual struggling alone against what may seem like insurmountable obstacles.

It's not a problem. Why don't you demonstrate why it actually is a problem before ramming through "fixes". You are saying the fact that a man who can chop 50 trees a day is a problem because his neighbors can only chop 10.

Being a millionaire today in China means nothing...With that money you can barely afford a room-sized apartment in the city yourself. Housing in China today is just way too expensive for almost everyone.
@TheFinalsTV
@TheFinalsTV 6 жыл бұрын
In 1st tier cities yes, Thats like complaining Times Square New york is expensive. There's tons of suburbs/smaller cities that rent is incredibly affordable. Thats just what happens when a top city gets incredibly populated, demand increases outwards.
@zi_pun
@zi_pun 6 жыл бұрын
Austin S Um I meant to purchase it. I was also not mentioning only 1st tier cities but all big cities. Housing in China is just generally much more expensive than the US based on the salary people get. Not complaining, just telling the truth.
@TheFinalsTV
@TheFinalsTV 6 жыл бұрын
I go to China on business a few times a year, people there do just fine in housing terms. Big cities pay bigger salaries, and the rent is dirt cheap. Of all the expenses you incur, living is probably the lowest. If you want to talk housing, talk about the horrible build quality. 5 year old buildings literally collapse with people inside as the construction industry is corrupt and monopolized. There are literally ghost towns of skyscrapers sitting empty 30 minutes from major cities.
@TheFinalsTV
@TheFinalsTV 6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely don't mean to come off as condescending but if the topic interests you, do some research on it. Don't post speculation. Granted I'm not an expert but I know enough to correct the misinformation I saw. Yes prices CAN get expensive if you buy, but as a millionaire I can rent out a beautiful $1000/m apartment of 1000sqft+ in a desirable neighbourhood. A couple mill goes a long way over there, it's the real land of opportunity lol.

Asian Boss I agree with allot of points that separately were brought up by interviewees. The rich {in any country as a general rule} don't care about the gap between rich and poor. There's many ways to Evade tax. I once met and chatted with American actor Dean Cain who is famous in Western culture for playing Superman on T.V. . He's officially a multi-billionaire. He gets paid *SO MUCH* {American dollars} for *EACH* Movie or T.V. series that he could *NEVER* spend it all in his own lifetime. Even if he lives to be 150 years old. He told me he spends most of his money buying shares in companies and is on the board of directors of some of those. Instead of there being a trade war started by President Trump between America and China, a good compromise = In exchange for China eliminating Privacy of Hollywood Movies that America and China Join their Movie making resources to make blockbuster Movies across Asia Pacific region including making English speaking Movies that involves Bollywood stars and Australian locations. 😧🌏🏚💸🎥🇨🇳🇺🇸🇦🇺

When I went the visit my relatives all their friends actually have the same stereotype about America, that everyone in America is rich because they are fat, have big homes and big cars, etc. Truth be told most Chinese live a humble life. Many people have been lifted out of poverty in the past decade but the wealth gap is still a problem. But my relatives are all in that happy middle class and they don't feel like they lack of anything. And after spending time with them for a month I feel extra doubly grateful for what I have here.

Alirak Kara the existence of (capitalist) hierarchy presupposes a 'bottom' position. Youve lost before youve even started. The goal shouldnt be to 'get to the top' - it should be to get rid of the hierarchy altogether, so that no one will be able to exploit others on the basis of wealth and class, in the same way that no one should be able to exploit others on the basis of race or gender etc.

TheMystery30 not some one NEED be poor in order for some one to be rich. Its just the nature order of competition. If you look at a marathon race. There would be only ONE #1. Then 2,3,4....ppl coming in one by one or in small groups. Its after maybe 100 ppl then you see lots of ppl come in large groups and many ppl never finish the race. If you leave the competition naturally then thats the reality. There would be hand full of out of standing winners, then there will be maybe 40 to 60 percent of ppl being averaged, not that far from each other. And then there would be around 30 percent unable to finish....capitalism is a competitive system. I am not surprised we get this result. Let the natural selection work its way. It will make mankind stronger. Haha I know I sound Nazi but that's how it works. No conspiracy here

Capitalism DOES imply a “bottom” position, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the bottom wealthy enough to afford their living expenses. The top would just be, well, really, really, rich.

I'm pretty sure everyone converts to USD when they are talking about 'millionaires'. When I was in Korea, my boss told me he was worth 6 million. Well, if he was really talking about Korean Manwon, well that isn't so much money now is it? (About 6000 USD). Hmm, if that were the case, I doubt he would even have a business. I live in Canada, a lot of rich Chinese are buying luxury real estate in Vancouver and Toronto, so yes, some of them are wealthy.

John Smith. The interviewees were speaking of RMB not USD. BTW most Chinese don't even know the yuan/dollar conversion rate. Those rich tycoons who own luxurious mansions in Canada are within the top 1% of the social pyramid of China. They can't represent 1.4 billion Chinese at all. The rural areas of inland provinces and western provinces always struggle with poverty. Many villagers are still living under disturbing poor conditions.

The only reason someone in the United States would be starving, is if they are addicted to drugs. In China, part of the problem is that it still lacks infrastructure. Some of the cities may be a sight to behold, but the rural areas are still seriously undeveloped. A lot of Chinese may be above the poverty line now, but when it is set at only living above $1 a day, that doesn't really say a whole lot. You'd have to be well beyond that, before you wern't really poor.

In Chinese countries, money is everything esp for urban men, most of them work so hard that they hardly have any time for leisure activities. Most of them think once they become rich everything will come to them naturally, including cars, women, and even youthful good looks which maybe fading away during the proccess of working hard and creating wealth, as nowadays skin care and minor surgeries have become quite advanceced.

ExoPanda If u want to judge Mao, u should judge him in both positive and negative side. In one side, Mao is one of the greatest leaders who led Chinese ppl to walk through the dark time and establish new China. Made China survived in the crack of US and USSR. He realized how important a complete industry system for an independent country and this makes China become one and the only one country on the earth which has all industry categories recognized by UN. In another side. Because of the limitations of histories, he also made a big mistake “ revolution of culture” and resulted millions died. Just remember, every coin has two sides, Mao is great or bad? It’s hard to give a good answer.

according to a quora poster from China " To earn $1 million, you only need a legitimate business, as well as some luck. Even if you do nothing, perhaps just in time for municipal demolition, it is possible to receive more than 1 million dollars in compensation. Then you can use the money to buy two apartments, but that's it. Of course, if you want to make $100 million or more, and become a really rich person, without high-level relationship it is virtually impossible."

The chances of the wealth gap in China changing to benefit the poor is highly unlikely. The reason is because the poor expects someone else to make their lives easier... That is like me asking you to go work for me and give me the money you make... @7:48 - from here you see two people "hoping" that kids have education, people not worry about living expenses, but its not like 'they' are going to do anything about it. That is because it is up to those parents of the kids, and the people themselves to worry about 'their' living expenses.
