@godloveskaren I have tried carnivore and simply can NOT lose weight. The only way I have been able to lose weight like people do on carnivore is with extended and consistent water fasting. Anywhere from 2-30 days is what I have done before, lots of times, most fasts being 2-3 days, and only once having done 30 days. Keto is also wonderful, but for me it is just not worth it for what little pay off I get, which is basically just not gaining any more weight.

@@sydneyw8834...for many, just cutting out all the junk they've been eating allows their bodies to begin to function properly. I believe that WW works for some people because they happen to choose protein rich foods with their 'points'. I don't like the program because you spend massive amounts of time calculating/weighing, cooking/tracking all your foods. Eating mainly carnivore with strength training, walking, and intermittent fasting has worked well for me without spending undue amounts of time and letting me get on with my life in general.

Many people who don't get enough protein who start eating more protein may gain weight, but generally this will be a good temporary weight gain because your body is finally healing so lose the scale temporarily and keep a journal of how you feel throughout the day. 1) Do you have any digestive issues 2)Do you have any brain fog? 3)How do you feel walking up the stairs? 4)How are your workouts? Are you improving in endurance and strength? 4) Are you crashing in the afternoon? 5)How is your social mental health? Are you wanting to go out or stay in? ETC ETC ETC. So many other measures of health and the scale is just one measure and usually a less valuable measure.

One of my kids apparently broke a glass in the kitchen but didn't clean up good and the other night I stepped on something hard, said to myself "What's that?", and it was a shard of glass about 1/2" x 1/4". Didn't even leave a mark let alone pierce the skin. I started this in my late 50s after retirement so it's never too late!

Your info and advice about protein has become one of the most valuable tips for my weight loss that I have ever received, Lillie! Thank you so much! I could not figure out WHY I wasn't losing weight while on a healthy carnivore diet this past year. In fact, I kept gaining instead! But since finally increasing my protein to 1g per kilogrram of body weight (or lb of ideal weight, which was similar), my weight has finally started to come down! In fact, I've lost 26 lbs in the past 6 weeks! AND in addition, another of your tips has proved to be very accurate as well, which is also associated with protein. I used to think that unless I ate my largest meal around 6 to 7 pm, and to the point that I was uncomfortably stuffed, it was guaranteed I would get the munchies within a couple hours & invariably reach for something sweet. Now, however, as long as I eat my daily quota of protein, it doesn't seem to matter how early I finish! ALL cravings for anything else, even late into the evening, are GONE! Well, except maybe for a little chunk of cold butter. But except for that, it's NO more snacking required! So again, thank you so much for your two incredibly helpful videos on this important need for adequate protein and how it impacts our perceived hunger. I feel like a great weight has finally been lifted! (Quite literally, lol!)

Thank you! Yes, it's a lot, I agree, altho' I'm sure at least 10 of those pounds were just water weight, as edema is one of my issues. But once past that point, I've seemed to be losing about a pound every 3 days. I put it back on just as quickly, however, if I cheat with any type of high-glycemic food!😂 I should also have mentioned, tho', that the first thing I did was stop taking OTC antihistamines, after reading, to my surprise, that they can cause weight gain! I had been taking them daily for over a year for my histamine sensitivity, during which time I had gained almost 50 lbs on a healthy carnivore diet with lots of variety! And my next change, made right after, was to stop the variety and focus only on beef, butter and eggs. (No bacon, tho', because of the high histamine due to curing/aging.) And since then, I've even discovered that I get gut distress and edema from even the healthiest fresh or frozen salmon! So it's hard to know for sure what kick-started my loss: the higher protein, change in foods or dropping those meds. But I feel fairly confident that the increase in protein has been a key factor and made it much easier! And I'm just so happy I'm finally losing, the way I always thought I would be! (And especially relieved after discovering that my doctor had put in her notes that she suspected my carnivore diet was the cause of my weight gain! I can't wait to show her she is mistaken!) Btw, I'm 76, and yes, I agree that age probably does make it harder to lose, and maybe harder to get into ketosis, too, altho' I don't track ketones. I just assume I'm producing enough of them if my hunger is abating and my energy is reasonably high on my nearly zero carb diet. (I sometimes still eat avocado and/or broccoli or asparagus.) But at 59, it shouldn't be too much of a factor for you. Yet still, weight loss is never easy for anyone , and so kudos to you, too, on your fairly steady loss! And 1 pound a week sounds like you are doing it in a very healthy way, as well! 🤗

@YeshuaKingMessiah Awwww, lol! I can certainly sympathize and even relate, lol. And yes, I agree: 1 lb a week WOULD be a thrill, lol, at least after one has finally dropped all the water weight! But how discouraging for you, no doubt. With such a slow loss, it would be easy ...and understandable!...if you lost your determination and just gave up or turned to something else. So kudos for even sticking with it! No doubt, tho', you are experiencing other benefits that are keeping you on this path. I know I was, even when continually gaining! You know, I don't know how long you have been experiencing this, but I know some have claimed that during the "healing" period, people often gain weight or experience a stall first. So perhaps that's what is happening with you. 🙏🤞 Have you tried OMAD, tho'? Maybe even only a few days a week during your stalls? OR an egg fast? I've heard they are good for moving one out of a stall. And OTOH, if you have already lost a LOT of weight, what you may be experiencing is simply the usual struggle to reset our "set points." And if that's the case, then 2-3 lbs every three months or so, lol, may very well be a sign of real progress!! 🤞😂🤗

to minimize glucose spikes and insulin release. veggies/fiber should be first, then protein/fats and lastly carbs. i have a cgm and have tested this hundreds of times. it does work. i agree with you though, protein should be the main focus at around .8 to 1g per pound of bodyweight if you work out. after that, you can either choose carbs or fats for energy depending on your metabolic health. veggies and fruits are important though, not for the fiber, vitamins or minerals, but for the ellagic acid, anthocyanins, quercetin, catechins and all the other antioxidants that really do help with recovery, performance in the gym and overall health. i quit veggies and fruits for a year and when i added them, my strength and recovery skyrocketed it. they're amazing! so i think i think it's not about quitting foods, it's all about balance and eating whole. simple and easy.

Bryce and I (and our family) have been using it for the past couple weeks just to make sure everything works great before we release it to the public but *spoiler*, it’s blowing our minds and will only be $30 for 24/7 unlimited texting, body scans, macros, etc for a month. I understand the topic is salad and raw greens. And your point is taken that eating a salad for its nutrition is kind of silly. But 5 cups of raw spinach cooks down to 1/2 cup of cooked spinach. If you multiply the vitamins and minerals in your spinach chart by 5 then eating 1/2 cup of cooked spinach fills in many of the gaps of the ground beef. Specifically Vitamins C and K and Folate. And cooked spinach tastes great with a little bacon .

Wouldn’t you get into trouble with calcium oxalate kidney stones with that much spinach consumption? Or would you just combine spinach with something that has calcium to prevent full absorption of the oxalates in spinach? Bonjour Lillie. BP 140/90 for years difficult to lower even with medication now my kidneys are in difficulty. carnivore for 2 years I must now cut out meat and introduce salads and I think give up my powder + collagen bought after your excellent video on the lack of proteins. I am a little lost in all this.

I am on a high protein diet, and I don't eat inbetween meals anymore. I find it overrated unless if you are a marathon athlete. Eating a low carb diet made me lose weight.

Add fat and cut out protein to .8g per lb of LBM- usually ur GW (we intuitively know how much we should weigh, altho body dysmorphia can interfere with that. It’s a good starting point anyway.

I've heard it said that our published dietary guidelines are influenced by vegetarians, who were either motivated by ethical concerns about animal cruelty, or by Malthusian concerns about how we can't sustain the cropland needed to feed all the animals we'd have to raise to feed an exploding population of human carnivores. (Actual human biology doesn't have to interfere with policy making.)

Years ago I had been struggling with weight loss and I was trying to do what everybody thought I should do, I started eating more salads, I was eating fruit, lean meats, I was regulating how much food I consume per day, I was trying to eat sugar-free options, I eliminated soda. And I did lose about 15 lb before the weight loss completely stopped.. I also added rigorous exercise once a week. I was playing roller hockey for several hours. It wasn't until I eliminated all the carbs from my diet that I was finally able to lose the weight

Isn't the concentration on protein paving the way for rabbit starvation? I think it's rteally about the ratio. Unfortunately, I am not as much into lists and numbers as you are, but I feel best with a good chuckeye steak and scrambled eggs with white bacon. Lean meat causes me nausea quite quickly, even with butter on it. But the right order is a good thing to keep in mind.

In my case it's fat/high calorie foods. I had some cranberry butter cookies and binged like 10 of them, something I dont normally do. I had other snack foods available, but I just wanted something high fat and sugary. Not even donuts or chocolate cookies or chips. Just butter cookies (in this case it's mostly fat, minimal carbs)

what about the anti-nutrients in plants such as oxalates, lectins, phytates, tannins, etc.? they bind to nutrients and you cannot absorb them

Chilllll plants also have antioxidants and phytonutrients and fiber that your gut microbiota feed on. Plants can also prevent colon cancer. Maybe balance out your steak with cabbage slaw? Dont dismiss the power of plants :(
@ArixSage
@ArixSage 6 күн бұрын
Your body tries to get rid of plants every time you eat them, that's why someone may have several bowel movements on a plant based diet. Now, because of the conditions of the food and toxins in the environment, fiber stops full absorption of the food we eat, which is something it's good for.

I definitely agree that the majority of people are undereating their proper protein amount and not prioritizing it correctly. I know that many carnivore, and also keto, doctor/specialists also emphasize consuming at least an equal amount of good saturated fat(from beef, butter, avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil) as your amount of protein grams, do you also support this? I try to get at least equal grams and sometimes more fat than protein. I would place any vegetables or fruit, as far as priority, below the need of getting enough fat as well as protein. I would think the vegetables are ok, obviously as long as you know they do not cause you any negative side effects - water retention, bloating, intestinal distress, etc.. I have unfortunately been stuck at a plateau for about 10 months! Been very careful on what I'm consuming, typically 50grams or less carbs a day. I feel I may be encountering the dreaded under-eating, but not sure how to positively identify it.

There is ZERO vitA in produce or grains or beans ONLY in animal foods It’s a bald faced lie that any plant contains vitA They contain beta carotene which humans are notoriously poor converters of Same for O-3s. None in plants, just again, precursors that humans don’t convert but very poorly.

I noticed in the video you said "eat protein". Not "drink protein". I think it is much more beneficial to get protein from balanced real foods (meats, fishes, nut, dairy, rice, and etc.), instead of getting it from highly-processed/extracted, added-sugar protein powder shakes.

You do need fiber when I stopped eating cereal I had the worst stomach ache in my life then my stool had blood in it it's because fiber strengthens the colon it also slows down that Sugar they told me to eat more fruits and vegetables that have fiber in it. Protein it's just not in meets, meats are good to get a lot of vitamins and minerals that was great what you showed but I think beans have protein if you don't want to eat meat. You should show more then just meats for Protein. Thank you love your videos.

I haven't been able to hold weight on the carnivore diet and definitely haven't gained any. I have to eat some carbs to gain a little weight back here and there. I've never had a weight problem and I've always had trouble gaining weight. I've spent my whole life trying to gain weight. My other health issues have to do with carbs though. I wish my only problem was bodyfat. That would be easy.

I saw your short video about how you "eat your shampoo". This might be a stupid question , but at the risk of sounding like an idiot I'm going to ask it anyway. How can you get clean with just Tallow? Shouldn't there be some other ingredients to actually get clean? And hair, how do you get the grease out of your hair without shampoo? Am I missing something? I checked into the company that you said you use and I asked them the same thing. I have struggled with psoriasis on my scalp for my whole life. So I swear this is a legitimate question. Because I do have to be careful of what I put on my skin. So please tell me this witchcraft! Lol
