I know Embergen is specialised, but you can do all of this in Niagara with the more performance heavy fluid and gas emitters. They aren't really usable in games right now, but you can always pre-render them and lose the dynamic interaction. [edit: you can also export them as alembics and retain the dynamic nature.]

Hello, thnak you for this video ! At 10:45 you talk about a VDB plugin which is explained in another video, can you tell me which one please or the name of the plugin for a version of Unreal 5.3
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox7 ай бұрын
Unreal engine 5.3 supports vdbs natively. The plugin used in previous versions was called Sparse Volumetric Plugin.

Can you possibly show a really high res flipbook export and setup in UE5? Have had trouble getting a proper cinematic resolution for my flipbooks.
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
Yes, I can have a look at that. The most basic thing you can do is not to have a lot of frames so that you can get it in max 64x64 tiles at a 8k or higher resolution. But I'll toy around with it and upload a tutorial.

@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
Well pointed out. I am currently trying to figure out the best settings to obtain accurate results between the embergen export and Unreal Engine. Image sequence produces the most clean result bud VDBs react to changes in lighting which is a massive thing!
@ArthurBaum Жыл бұрын
@@ArghanionsPuzzlebox THough only to direct and skylight. It's a limitation of plugins. I've talked to Thibault, the creator of nanoVDB. Generally, it really depends on the use case. For 99 % of my cinematics image sequences or high res videos with alpha channels are absolutely fine. For the rest, sure why not use VDBs. Speaking of ... If you find out how to export cameras from UE to EmberGen please let me know. I have some weird glitches because apparently both programs use different coordinate systems.

When you make water in niagara you -may be - can make interaction this water with a wall for example. If i made water flow in embergen and import it into unreal engine - can make interaction between water flow and any wall for example?
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
No. it won't interact if made in Embergen. You would need to create the water to wall interaction in Embergen by using collisions and export the VDB affected by that wall to Unreal in order to mimick the same effect.

Can this fire-flame lighten envirement?
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
It can at high intensities. But don't go in it thinking it will light the scene like a real life fire. You most likely will still need to use some light sources in your scene for further intensity

I did everything exactly like you, if I try to export, I get the following message: Cannot Export with Current Settings. Simulation node has a looping mode of Looping Simulation loop bounds do not match the export nodes range. Whats the issue here?

Take your look at ZibraAI smoke & fire simulation It is Unity, but the quality and performance are much better And this is fully interactive and real-time!
@luigitasso1894 Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! great video. I tried lighting my smoke with a point light but the vdb isn't reacting to it. It's only lit by the directional and sky lights. Any idea why?
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
Clouds lightning system plugin would work to affect these volumes. The normal point light does not interact.

It's quite strange about real time simulation - bcos on my intel core i9 9900kf and quadro p2000 there is slow motion - it is not real time just may be for high-end computers....
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
You mean when using with unreal engine? Just think of the amount of data you are pushing through frame by frame. This will give you an idea just how taxing these volumes are. I would recommend running them from an ssd nvme 3 or higher.
