The ENFP I know is exceedingly smart. Self-effacing in personal matters, ambitious professionally. I never know what the next thing out of her mouth will be, but it's usually hilarious. She seems to lack good judgment because she always just makes stuff up as she goes. I admire her and worry about her at the same time.

I worked at restaurants for years and the vast majority of servers were ENFPs and ESFPs. I love that ENFPs really do seem to get along with just about everyone. I was often the only ENFJ in the lot and one thing I noticed was that ENFPs always had numerous “regulars” and I suspect it’s because ENFP’s are intuitive enough to anticipate peoples needs while also being really creative, friendly and engaging. Occasionally they would get distracted or would forget something and I frequently became the designated helper/problem solver for ENFPs who got behind. I also always became the “spokesperson” for the wants/needs/complaints to management for the group, but overall I really enjoyed working with ENFPs. Fun people to be around!

wow thank you for saying this! I'm an ENFP and have worked in the hospitality industry for a decade. I've always been told that I have good energy, charisma and can connect with anyone. I do have a lot of regulars at my coffee shop, and I'm never scared to initiate conversations or make small talk. My coworkers are always like "how are you so good at talking to people?" or "wow you are really on a roll". Its also true that we are good at anticipating customer's needs. (INTJ) Apart from what has already been stated here, from what I've heard from ENFPs, they enjoy the dynamic of coming up with a selection of potential ideas, and then having an Ni-dominant say "we should do *that* one". Apparently we can also follow their crazy line of thought and serve it back to them in streamlined form, but I think they might be giving us too much credit there! ;-)

ENFP here. My best friend is an ISTJ, and we make the best team! We both secretly think the other one is kind of magic, and enjoy the magic rubbing off on us. I love to chat with ENTPs, but you got it exactly right. I find them tending towards cold and unkind. I don't offend easily, and it doesn't bother my personal feelings, it's kind of bracing and fun! However, I get extremely vengeful on behalf of others. So, brush my idea off and joke in kind of a mean way about me... It's liberating, I feel like "oh okay, we're doing this!" and I let myself debate with him in a way that I don't do with other people, because I don't want to hurt them! But then I hear him scoff at my friend's idea, and not in a "that's ridiculous" way, it's all the way over in "you're ridiculous" territory, and he doesn't even give an out for the person to save face. The only paths the ENTP leaves are "double down on my bananas logic" or "Bend down for my spanking". And then I despise that ENTP. I just do. How dare he make this person feel stupid?! It was completely uncalled for and I think it shows a disgusting lack of character. Sure, you can think it, but don't SAY it! This specific guy I'm thinking about, he's slowly learning about emotional intelligence, so I think he'll turn out alright.

As an ENFP, I ADORE the fact that you made a video about my type. Also, SPOT on with the ENFJ and the ENTJ. Two of my most favorite types that I often envy. I have had mentors of these two types and became especially in awe of the ENFJ's ability to graciously conduct and orchestrate entire rooms and auras so effortlessly. My lack of tact (Fi) has been attempting to learn from the (Fe) and it's been a very slow process. ENFJ's patience and chivalry are unmatched. ENTJ's Te dom is a sight to behold and I found that while being with this person, I have an especially developed Te (as far as I can tell).

Glad to hear it! It's interesting to compare the differing ways in which ENFJs and ENTJs work and conduct a room. I think that ENFPs are totally capable of that as well, they just have to go about it in a different sort of way. I think ISFP's are quite intriguing (as an ENFP), I guess in part because they have a certain wisdom of human nature, emotions and spirituality (FI dom) but they are also very grounded in reality with their SE. My partner is one, he can get along with absolutely anyone (I think this has to do in part with how he puts people at ease, because you won't feel judged by him), though he prefers his solitude more often than not. Recently came to know an ENFP at work and this perfectly explains our interactions (ISTP). He's not shy in expressing his admiration, when I strike at the heart of a matter. But it's also obvious when he gets frustrated with my close mindedness lol. I have a hard time listening without looking for a cause and effect, to determine the problem. Even when there isn't one, even when that has not been asked of me. It's a fault of mine, to not just appreciate what I'm hearing and go with it. I'm glad I met him, because it's made me realise how shut off I've become and that not everything needs a solution.

The "ESTJ mode" happened fairly recently in my life. A few years ago, I started working on a long-term project with my INFJ friend, and I started to train my Te and Si to be stronger. Now I can get sizeable amounts of the project done with few breaks or many breaks in between.
@lovewho

@@lovewho Yeah, it started off as scheduling a day every so often to work with my friend, and getting the bulk of my chores done in one go so I can get some solo work done. Add that to my natural sporadic ENFP nature, and now I can switch gears much more fluidly.
@m_n_a_b
@m_n_a_b Жыл бұрын
I also learned to do this, just as a child. My parents would not tolerate anything less than straight As once they saw my aptitude scores on 3rd grade standardized testing. So, I had to figure out how to develop Te and Si as a self survival to stay out of being perpetually grounded and having a very large, loud, muscular Dad screaming in my face and terrifying my little self. He now knows he was too harsh with how he approached me. I didn't need that intensity level. He is also ENFP, and didn't want me turning out like him in blue collar dead end jobs I would hate because I never applied myself. He was well intentioned, but took a bad approach. Other than this side of him, my Dad and I click very well. Frequently leaving our family laughing because of our antics. So, this ESTJ mode is helpful when working... but it drains me like socializing drains most introverts. I'm utterly drained after an intense focus work day. I NEED fun decompression time where I just do what I enjoy and pursue my interests. Then, times where I enjoy the company of friends. And even other times where I am just deeply introspective and don't talk to anyone while I'm alone with my thoughts and feelings.

I love how you points out my existensial crisis abt potentially typing myself as ESTJ! I have pretty good Te for an ENFP, I dislike disorganized notes or clutters But I have no Si I have terrible sense of time and routines, following procedures makes me mentally stiffled Also I respect Si dom so much, because they can do things I can't And trends I notice when interacting with ENTPs are that they have more tendency to overthink and care about images compared to ENFPs (for some ENFPs, negative self image is ok if that's what's makes us authentic, maybe because ENTPs tend to have 3-fix and ENFP tend to have 4-fix) They like talking to depths about their interests, ENTPs like talking lengths about their theories and what make sense to them, while we like talking about what we're passionate about ENTPs cope better with small talks, some of them even enjoy it, while most of us ENFPs find it socially taxing to entertain small talks But most of the time we're like two peas in a pod

I find this pretty accurate. Here’s my evaluation of some of my personal experiences INFP- 3 of my siblings are INFP’s and I do feel in so many ways we are kindred spirits. We’re all artistic and musical. I have a couple of INFP friends. I find them super peaceful to be around. ISTJ- our accountant (typical career choice) is an ISTJ and he made me cry. He made everyone cry though and our laborers were scared to go into his office. INFJ’s- compatible with ENFP and I find this to be true. My favorite bosses and coworkers are INFJs. They have a good combination of having expectations but being flexible. But they are mysterious and don’t let you quite figure them out. They are definitely my favorite people to work with professionally. INTJ’s- most of my friends and guys I have dated are INTJs so that speaks volumes. ENFJ- my mom is an ENFJ and we are best friends and nurture the same but we can clash because she is a perfectionist when it comes to cleanliness and I am just not that detail oriented. She’s more social than me and exhausts me. ESTP-my dad. So much like him in a lot of ways but he his logic makes him frustrated with me at times and sometimes I find him a little insensitive. He is also too social sometimes and exhausts me as well. ESFJ- I find them to be super popular and have tons of friends. Perfect amount of extrovert. Not exhausting. And life of the party. ESTJ- She likes to seek thrill in her life and although I am spontaneous I’m more cautious. Example: she went skydiving, something I would never do. She’s science and math based and the rest of the siblings are arts based. Other ENFP’s- I get along with some but others are too out there for me with their over the tol eccentric personalities and styles. I find that as an ENFP I tend to be a little less risky and spontaneous as some others. But I’m also 51% extrovert and 49% introvert so idk if that has something to do with it? I find for the most part anyone that’s an N, regardless if they are are introverted or extroverted are general close friends/family. I do get along with most S’s but they generally aren’t close friends. I also find that super extroverted people exhaust me. ENFP’s need their downtime and we hobbit when we’re deep in thought.

According to 4-Sides Dynamics: A Hybrid Model of sorts of MBTI, 8-Function Model, Kiersey Temperament Sorter, & Interaction Styles… Dual Relationships (ie Ego+Subconscious Pairings | Ex) INTJ+ESFP or ISTJ+ENFP) are more shoulder-to-shoulder / growing relationships because each type basically constantly exploits the other type’s weaknesses and vice versa due to the how the function stacks in each type align within the pair. Shadow/Mirror Relationships are often called “Golden Pairs” because the types are “Shadows “or “Mirrors” of each other due to have the same for Function Attributes in the same order, but just opposite I/E attitudes Ex. INTP+ENTJ or ISFP+ESFJ. The downside to these relationships is that the highest of highs can be naturally followed by the lowest of lows if the types in the relationship pairing aren’t careful enough / lack maturity etc. Pedagogue / Mentoring Relationships are REALLY interesting because the pairing types essentially help teach and grow each other faster than any other type pairing combination due to their function stack alignments. Ex. INFJ+ENTP | ESTP+ISFJ | INTP+ENFJ | ENFP+INTJ | Would love to see you do a deep dive on these too Nathan ❤ -INFJ

This isfj gets herself into complete overload, she's taken on way too much, and now I am faced with the choice of abandoning her in her hour of need and missing out on her company, or of being with her and pitching in to do all the work she STUPIDLY offered to do. It's not her business, she chose to sign up for all this unnecessary work that now I'm stuck doing because I want to help her! Ahhh! I've actually distanced myself from two ISFJs for this reason. It feels like they're choosing to be a martyr and are trying to get me to burn with them. I resent it! And there's my contribution. 🤣

Indeed. It's quite difficult when you are a person/type whose main approach to things is to be accommodating and agreeable. The moment they try to assert some kind of boundary it will almost feel like they are undoing a lot of their good work, which is a real shame. I agree that leaning into that side of themselves more is very healthy for them. It removes a lot of the imbalances in their life! ~ Nathan

Here’s a recommendation: I would be really happy if you would make more videos about the cognitive functions. I find the videos you have about them very useful but I can’t find videos on what it means to have something as an auxiliary function for example or how the functions of a person work together in general. I have seen your videos about the blind spot function and the dominant and inferior function and I really liked them. I know what my function stack is but I can’t truly get down to what this really means and what role each individual function plays in its certain position. So I would consider general information about that helpful.

Howdy Nathan, hope you’ve been well! 🤠The INFJ vs ENFP dynamic has always been quite fascinating to me. I met a bloke fairly early into my time on the Love Who server who similarly gravitated between these two types (his username eludes me), and we had the most uncannily intriguing chemistry. Your description in this video is spot on. Shockingly, he was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and my behavioral observations (and subsequent self reflection) catalyzed my theory that the functions of someone typed as INFJ in a mentally stable state map quite accurately to an ENFP’s functions (their shadow, as you pointed out) during manic episodes. I don’t know whether there’s been sufficient research in psychology to support this, but all of my personal (as well as anecdotal) experience seems to reflect the idea.

As an ENFP, my favourite personality type is actually ISFJ’s, the kindest, most giving people I know are ISFJ’s, they are so thoughtful in the most caring ways, for example my friend is a baker and she makes cookies for every person in our friendship group when it’s their birthday, the last birthday we had in the group was a sleepover and she surprised everyone that came with an individual cookie with their name on it in addition to the batch of cookies she makes for the birthday girl, and of course she was an ISFJ. I realise way too often how under appreciated ISJFs can be because they genuinely just love being there for their loved ones, and as an enfp who can be quite disorganised sometimes I try to make sure I’m reliable to my ISFJ friends especially because they are so reliable to me and everyone around them 🥹

Always so graceful and lively with seemingly no effort and no worries, they want something and they go out and get it, meanwhile I'm here just fantasizing about how cool it would be to actually do those things but also thinking about a million things that could go wrong and how it makes me feel or if it actually feels true to myself bla bla bla. - ENFP

I feel like ISFJ should be more selfish and courageous and if you spot one always find a way to include them as life is better when they are around. Also in my experience ENFP friendships with ENFPs are exhilarating at first but can get a bit competitive after certain point and idk why.

Mkay, fellow Enfp here, “few” points I definitely want to poke my knife at to further elaborate his cuz he not wrong XD My interactions/thoughts on *Entp:* One friend in particular, between the both of us, there is great wit, great banter, we’ll jab at things comfortably where others may not be, however, while currently they are now more mature and know when with what to bite their tongue at, before there were 2 instances he kept stabbing at a topic that made other friend members emotionally conflicted and existentially uncomfortable, seeing their distress while they wouldn’t back down when either friend would beg to make em stop talking, both not wanting to cry in public an make a scene, I cried for them, not big sobs just silent streams, I looked at that Entp dead in the eye and just said “stop”, they did after realizing what boundaries they were crossing and after those 2 instances no more occurred *Infp:* literally one of my closest friends, we’re both only children but we treat each other as sisters, but yep you can definitely tell who has the better Si and who’s trained their Te more XD *Istj:* I do have a very deep and profound respect for a well developed Istj, simply because I can recognize that they are very strong where I am weakest in, and for that I do indeed feel a very strong attraction to them; when I started looking into more mbti stuff and looking back at my fictional crushes growing up, a good 75-80% of them were Istj, at first I was triggered by it, not anger just like a “oh god w h y _them_ ?! Brain w h y???”, but I’ve learned to recognize the why that is part and still really value their strength and the type of people they tend to be, 10/10 have earned my respect 👌🏼 *Estj:* Group projects, group projects where there is no clear leader and the rest are fellow slackers, I value my grade and that is when I rearrange my functions temporarily, I resemble this during my states of academic crisis only *Entj:* currently making friends with an entj, it’s a bit of a slow start but I’m surprised how well they took to my personality and vibe XD *Isfp:* It’s the values and decisiveness he stated that rlly makes me grateful having been raised by my isfp mom, always stringing me along adventure and new experiences, before comprehending types well enough and not know the value of my own, this is indeed the type I would’ve like to have been, heck even infp over Enfp at first I thought, I am happy where I ended up to be however *Enfp:* “Burdened by Ideas”, there was a point in my life where it *felt* like I was Clairvoyant, tho I don’t personally believe in those sorts of things, but it would happen where a daydream I envisioned or a dream I recall would actually occur accurately to some capacity, it was hard to describe this phenomenon, my theory then became, as I learned abt cognitive function, it’s my Ne cycling through various highly probable scenarios in order for me to discover how to come abt it, how to respond to it in line of my Fi, _should_ I encounter said scenario, a bit out there at first I thought and my mother said it’s just me making too many stories in my brain, that is until I started talking to a younger Enfp (childhood friend) who was now at an age when it had begun for me, and they were flipping out abt it too, he had a brief concept of mbti and I shared with them my theory and it seemed to rlly calm them, cuz it does get to a point where it becomes concerning anxiety inducing scenarios, but we just remind ourselves, “these are thoughts, not visions, consider solutions or put it to rest, but don’t linger on it” Stopping here with just these ones cuz any further and it’s longer than my essay ( o^o) *TL;DR* I’ve had particular interesting interactions with a notable few ~ Enfp

ENTJs are pretty great. You'll get along well. Try not to take any criticism from them personally in the future. You can send criticism right back at them and be just as prickly as them, and they'll take it just fine. Be very direct and honest when needing to communicate anything that bothers you. ENTJs LOVE us. And damn, do they absolutely hate to admit it. 😂 Edit: If you become good enough friends, they'll do anything to make your ideas/dreams a reality. Since we really struggle with making that happen. They have the tools to put your dreams into action. (Obviously, I'm a super fan of NTJ types. 😅 I feel they're just as misunderstood as us)

ENFP here!👋 love your videos and have gotten a lot of insight from them. ESTJs though in particular, I lived with two, horrible horrible experience I would never view them any where close to an enfp while you can appreciate the hard "work horse" mentality they are closed off to ideas/ theoretical philosophy or psychology and very judgmental "my way is the only way" type of people. its just a terrible match and not a type I can relate to or ever desire to be myself. I find interaction with them in small doses like maybe at a party or get together the best. And I really genuinely thought I got along and was very accepting with everyone🤣🤣 I learned not everyone can be close, and I learned the value of space and boundaries with certain types. love to know if any one felt the same?

From my interactions as an isfp its a lot of "your so cool why are you so cool" and messaging me at 2am about an epiphany they had on psychedelics and they view me as like some kind of monk or authority on spirituality and idk why, im actually very grounded, although i would be careful about giving fi doms of any kind the title of "accepting of new experiences" because fundamentally these are still introverts and they are still repressing the object in favor of the subject fundamentally, even with auxiliary se they still are kinda taking bits of the object into the subject and extroverts kinda take bits of the subject into the object if that makes sense. I work with an istj and we hate each other. It all started with him hating me for no reason now I avoid him and I don’t talk to him. I talk to everyone except him 😂 I weared a nasa t shirt to troll him because he is a star trek fan. But he rather is alone or with the intj coworker

I love being an INTP daughter to an ENFP mom - but most of all I love being an INTP mom to an ENFP daughter! Her best friends are INTPs, with an adorable little INFP thrown in there just to make things even cuter. My best friend’s an ENTP. Just love that Ne energy.

Based on lots of the comments I've seen on this video, it seems like there really is a lovely kinship between these two types. It's great to see, especially when it's between parents and their children! ~ Nathan

When ENTPs were described as cold blooded provocateur versions of ENFPs I realized that I switch between the warm bubbly ENFP vibe to the cynical subversive provocateur vibe with an icy cold aura based on my mood but then I also think of George Carlin who is an ENFP and I can see more resemblance between myself at my colder moments and Carlin than the average ENTP troll.

Nathan (or anyone who knows) can you explain more about how the online testing is biased? I've just knows an enfp or two who have tested esfp even tho it doesn't feel true. I'm curious why that happens

Hi, basically the online tests are bad because they rely on the person taking them to be self aware. More than that, they seem to be biased towards giving people intuitive results too. If you’re interested in going down the rabbit hole a bit more then feel free to check out the LoveWho Discord server. We have lots of people who are knowledgeable about typology on there (including me!). The link for that is in the description of the video ~ Nathan

@@lovewho yes that makes sense. It took me a very long time to figure out my type (enfp) but nailed it down several years ago. Your channel has gone a long way in helping me feel confident I've got the right one, actually. And it's not just being self aware that made that a challenge. I could see the flaw in the online testing for me bc I actually got sick in college. I've spent most of my adult life in bed, in hospitals and with a great deal of limitations when I have been able to be a bit more active. It took a long time to sort out who I am apart from that. The tests just made it more confusing rather than feeling like a useful tool. I can also see what you mean about it typing people as intuitive too often. I've seen that in friends as well. Thanks for answering my question!
