if you're living in Switzerland and earning Swiss Franc then it'll not be really expensive. It'll be expensive if you'll convert it to your local currency. 😭😭

I live in Switzerland but my work is super part time, that’s why it’s extra expensive for me.
@ellomark46335 жыл бұрын
Shan Cruz it is expensive compare to other Western European countries, like England or Germany or pretty much anything. Lived in London for long time but food is way cheaper than this. Not sure that it’s the same quality but yeah if you are coming from an other country to visit or live there it’s expensive I believe. Also if you work in Switzerland I’m sure it’s not that expensive but I’m pretty sure there are people on budget who find these things expensive. I mean like 10 eggs, what was like ...5 franks or something. In London you can get £1 for 10 lol. Again , not sure where those eggs comes from but come on! ~£4 for 10 eggs is lol 😂

My cousins in PI or maybe other Filipinos may think just because we are earning Swiss Francs or USA dollars they think money grows in trees here. As fast your earn it, it goes out as fast on food, utilities, and rent. US dollar goes long way in the PI to us is affordable due to currency exchange between US dollar is more to pesos. Migros is full of Migros brand products. Not too many choices, except if you go to their MMM stores, which have “more” choices. Coop is a little pricier than Migros. Aldi is okay. But Denner and Lidl have more imported choices…I love how they always make it a point to bring their own bags and charge you for plastic bags if you didn’t bring your own. The cashier and self check-out counters make everything a lot faster… IDK but in Germany, you also cannot film in their grocery stores. Privacy matters, I think. Have to get people’s consent especially when they stand out in the vid.

You can’t compare bigger countries to Switzerland, which is a small country. America and other bigger countries have way more people to sell to. Go to Otto’s, you can save some money there. A lot of fruit and vegetables are imported, that’s why they are more expensive. Thats how real prices should be when everyone who works to get that product on the shelf is paid properly. From farmers, pickers, drivers, store workers, janitors who cleans that store can live on the wages paid and not have to work 2 to 3 jobs to make ends meet. Furthermore, when animals are taken care of and food is produced with a certain standard, there is a price to pay for all of these so if you live and earn in Switzerland and want to continue to enjoy these benefits, Shop in Switzerland .
@LykaKrystle4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s true..

I was expecting really high prices, but it looks fine. Quite similar to Japan, where I live now. I think Colgate and Head & Shoulders is actually more expensive in Japan (if you manage to find it - recently I paid around 10 USD for tooth paste... ). Blueberries are around 8-12 USD I think. Some of the nice meat from Europe that is sold in Japan is muuuuuch more expensive, so I am super excited to be back in Europe. I am very interested in those videos as my company allowed my transfer to our Switzerland office. My salary for the exact same position will go up 30-40%, so I was expecting much higher prices. Rent is definitely around 30% higher when I compare Tokyo and Zurich though.

yeah, it is similarly priced in some countries. My goal is for videos like these help the people who want to travel to Switzerland get an idea of how expensive it is here...

Personally, I think prices are reasonable if one works and earns within the country and spend there. And same with almost all other countries. Except for countries like US who are self-reliant which produces almost all products or materials, products prices are expected to be lower. As learned from other video, geographical location of Switzerland, makes it difficult for the country to produce its own. It's why, products being sold there are mostly imported. (Open for correction).

Hi Lyka, I'm a fellow Filipino, just wondering how to get there and take a study? I mean do you have any idea about the process and stuff? Thanks!
@LykaKrystle4 жыл бұрын
How to get here...hmmm. First you need to find a university here or a Fachhochschule that is English and that coincides with your previous degree. And then you apply to the school. When you get accepted, you then apply for the student visa. ☺️

Switzerland is beautiful too! But the country being expensive is not because people are making a lot (lol!). First, yearly salary adjustment is based on inflation rate and needs of people. Second, products are expensive because most of it are imports from EU countries, Switzerland isnt part of the EU, and its a landlock mountainous country. Most is imported from EU countries because Switzerland can't produce it, also it will take so much paperwork and several haulage to get it there which makes it expensive.

I know its expensive but if i can find a group of my kababayans. It will be easier. Maybe my budget for 3 months ma extend until i find a job. Are there pinoys in Lugano?

Just to be fair, it's just as high also in Paris... And I don't earn a salary like in Switzerland
@LykaKrystle4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is as high but Paris is city center, this is in-the-middle-nowhere-Switzerland, the city area has way higher prices that match up to their cost of living. And as I mentioned in my video, I only have a part time job and at the moment, I am back in school so “Switzerlands salary” has nothing to do with me that’s why I think it is expensive here.
@renovantm1254 жыл бұрын
@@LykaKrystle Yes that's true that for the middle of nowhere it's expensive. Is it because there are not enough people in your city so the price is still high so the shop doesn't bankrupt ? Sometimes in very small village in France it's the same. The price is high because there are not enough people to lower prices
