I watch David Butler’s entire “How Far Away is it” plays list every night before I go to bed. His summary of physics and modern cosmology is top-notch, and the narration style and content is perfect. I’ve seen all the episodes so many times that I usually just pick an episode at random if I’m tired and wake up with it still playing on another video. My favorites are the 2016-2020 summaries. David, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making these videos. You’ve enriched my life immensely.

G'day Nick from Australia, I'm the same. There's something really special and heartwarming and peaceful about putting on David Butler's videos and just checking out. I can only claim to understand perhaps 5-10% of the content he discusses (depending on the exact clip), but I appreciate the explanation, his production values, the slower pace of his videos, his use of beautiful timeless music and effective but not intrusive CGI. It's magical content and it's amazing that the vast proportion of the internet's citizens will never be aware of this man's singular work.
@Okla_Soft2 жыл бұрын
@@DanielVerberne I know, what really floors me is how impressive his career and life’s work was, and the fact that he went to Oxford and got a phd in math and physics, spent 40 years in the tech/computer industry doing big things, then retired and was curious about what developments in fundamental physics and cosmology that he had missed out on, so he brushed up on it and did his research like the true scientist that he is, then produced these videos! G’day Daniel!

Whenever I think - "How could my career and life turn out the optimum way?", I'm reminded of David Butler - a 40 year career involved in some of the biggest and most important IT systems - followed by a retirement and return to the original passion of science.

Very happy with this new upload, and much much more happy to see Mr. Butler again. Many thanks for everything you’ve created, it has proven to be that little shiny twinkling star during the last two years that always seemed to smile down from the heavens during times of solitude and introspection.
@marcusgehring31272 жыл бұрын
Calm, precise and comprehensible and without showmanship. He gets to the heart of today's physics like no other. My heart always jumps for joy when I hear sentences like. "Light, as we understand it today, ....". It says more than a thousand words how much this man loves physics. Nothing is artificially inflated as in various other documentaries about physics, where you have the feeling that they either just want to impress you or sell you a "car". Thank you for that! Please keep up the good work.

The Butler series is a terrific layman’s guide to the micro and macro universe. It is an enormous help to the human (me) for understanding (to some little degree) time and space, science and the spiritual, for they are, in the end, all ONE. Ponder the notion, as impossible as it will always seem, that the PAST, the PRESENT, and the FUTURE, are the same thing, which gives a great deal of meaning to the WORK each of us does in the moment.

Outstanding work, Mr. Butler. I love your focus on the photos, the soft classic music, and the concise but informative narration in the background. Professionalism on full, but muted, display. 🍻

Thank you, David! You are one of the best teachers I've ever encontered in both physics & cosmology. Your videos are always inspiring and entertaining, it's a masterpiece content from narration, animation and audio pov. Each every video is educational, the way you describe the most complicated concepts reminds me Richard Feynman's lectures. Please, keep going with the coverage of all those fascinating discoveries of the world we live in together ❤

26:03 I wonder what the final completed track of the rover will look like? So far, it looks like the start of a rough outline for the state of Texas! Roubion =Brownsville (southernmost tip of TX), Citadelle = Laredo, Seitah= San Antonio and Octavia E./ Butler Landing would be Houston, naturally. If the tracking (white lines) follow the outline of the crinkly/ridges' southern border from Citadelle going NW-S-N then Big Bend NP (where the map legend reads "200 Meters") will be completed. Only the northern half and far west Texas would remain to be completed. Yeah I know, just a coincidence, like "the man on the moon" and canals on Mars, ha ha, but it's fun anyway!
