Woot! Woot! With my overtime pack, I rode 55.8 km and climbed 1869 meters on my Instinct with 3% left. If I do the math, my 722 main pack would have gotten me 40.3 km and 1347 meters. My climbs were all single track and steeper than yours which probably explains my lower elevation numbers but somehow, I got more distance. And Rocky is blowing these bikes out right now. Huge discounts of 35% on all Instinct Powerplay models. Overtime pack is half price.

Thank you so much for reviewing the Rocky Mountain power play 4.0! I just bought a RM pp Fusion 30 on closeout. I know a hard tail, but I'm a newbie and I'm not doing any technical stuff. Everything is about the Ramblas on this side of the pond. Nothing out there about the Fusion and little about the RM pp 4.0. I'm watching your series that includes RM pp 4.0 too and it is vey informative also. Cheers Rich

I’ll give you a 2 year long term review. The bike totally rocks! The range on this bike is going to be very different eco -2 compared to ludicrous +2. What mode and setting were you in? I tend to ride 0 and trail, and get about the same range as you did.

I’ve managed 40 miles + on my Altitude during a days ride (almost 5k ft of climbing) and had around 25% battery remaining. I don’t think I used Ludicrous mode a lot as it makes a huge impact on battery consumption compared with Trail+ mode. Mine is the aluminium model, so I don’t know if there’s a huge difference between it and the carbon version, but weight of the bike must make a slight difference.

I can get about 35 miles and 4000 feet of climbing on a ver3 Altitude power play. I just got a C90 Ver4 with the 720watt battery. I have not given it a real long ride because its been broken most of the time I have had it. Rocky has poor customer service. I can't seem to get it fixed at the dealer. Pretty disappointed in the current situation. I just retired and wanted a nice bike. I got a problem child that Rocky is ignoring.

Hey Gary thanks for the question, from my testing the Rocky and the Bosch Race are the most powerful and fastest under ful load but they both always have the most drag when the motor is off, it’s definitely not bad but you can’t have it all!

or use the two battery method . take an extra battery in panniers and ride until the first battery drops to say five or ten percent . then change batteries and ride back . this of course requires that you ride on equal ups and downs both ways or do your climbing on the first battery . that way you will be using less of the second battery on your return trip guaranteeing you make it back .

I’ve just been looking at the price of the Overtime 2.0 pack for the Powerplay bikes. Prices are currently between £500 and £750 in the UK with a 720 replacement battery costing €1399. Don’t know what happened with prices, I’m sure the 720 was £500 and Overtime pack £300 back in 2022 when I bought my Altitude.

@@siriosstar4789 Yes, the prices are insane. Luckily the range on the 720 battery is good enough for a decent day’s ride. As long as you don’t use Ludicrous all the time most people will get 40+ miles out of the battery.

Interesting but I would disagree. One element missing in the video is rider weight. Need to understand the impact on battery capacity. Myself, I am 57 and 230 lbs. Last March during a week long bike trip we rode at Ride Kanuga for of the 2 days. Each day was basically 1200 m of climbing and 32 kms pedalling up. An Ebike still seems to be a limiting factor on a full day of riding if it is done after approx 1600 m. I want more riding not the same amount in less time, I am away and the only thing on the agenda is riding for the full day for 5-7 days straight. We pedalled over 5000 m up that week, had a bit of a rest lift day there in the beginning of the trip on day 2. So the question is do I need 2 or 3 batteries each day?
@streddaz
@streddaz 2 ай бұрын
@@michaeltiffe6341 if you still have strength in your legs, you can keep peddling, regardless if you have any charge in your battery. What Sam was doing was stopping as soon as the battery died, but if he wanted to he could have kept peddling. Rider weight does make a difference to the range, but as long as you are testing each bike with the same rider, the results will be reasonably consistent.
@michaeltiffe6341
@michaeltiffe6341 2 ай бұрын
@@streddaz rider weight being provided is a valuable piece of readily available information in my opinion as I am not only looking for a comparison from bike to bike but also the overall value of e-bikes in general. If the range diminishes to a point of being unviable for prolonged usage then the increased cost and maintenance aspects of a e-bike outweigh the benefits. The more information the better for the decision process

I get about 1 km per % battery on 32% boost on my Altitude. So up to 100 km per charge. I ride my 10 km technical trail up to 7 times on a charge. The bms drains the battery more than I like if it sits any length of time. I read the Overtime pack has to be charged often just to keep a charge on it even when not used. I just got one on the half price sale but haven't used it yet.
