What a great idea. We used to have little quiet books for our toddlers at church that incorporated some of these. Thank you for all you do and for sharing this idea.

My mother gets upset with me every time I visit. Once she realizes I’m not taking her home she causes a big fuss and I end up leaving. It’s an hour drive each way and I not only leave discouraged but I leave her in an awful mood and the workers have to try to get her calmed down again. I’ve tried some of your strategies but nothing works for her. She is always packed up as she is determined to leave. Mom thinks she can live on her own :(

Lisa Dixon I’m so sorry. Find solace in the fact that every behavior has a natural end. It may be 6 months from now, but it will pass. So sorry.

Lisa Dixon, we have this issue with my sister-in-law wanting to leave the Alzheimer’s unit. We have found that we can blame the doctor. ‘Well, next time you see the doctor, tell him you are ready to be discharged to go home.’ We tell her the insurance won’t pay if we take her out without him giving the orders. So that satisfies her momentarily. I made a fidget apron. But she never touches it! I’m thinking of giving it to the activity director and letting her pass it to someone that might benefit.

I know it's hard to take care of a loved one with dementia (my grandma and now my mom) and am sure you considered this but it might be helpful to grant her wish and take her to your house not her's ..those days,months and years will be really missed when person is gone. Sorry to say that but it the ugly truth

What size is best for a fidget quilt?
@DementiaWithGrace

lap size, i would say. Some people take old placemats and use them as a base. Some people make vests that have fiddle things on it! Thanks for your support! Vicky
