As a teenager in the 70's, Foghat has become part of my DNA.

Foghat was my first true rock concert in the 70’s. Always been a fan. I had the privilege of meeting them in the mid 90’s when we opened up for them at this festival we both were playing…….Then more recently I saw them again several years ago. I got to talk to Roger and mentioned everything I just said above. If I’m not mistaken Slow Ride was the first song I ever played with a band. My very first band would do several songs from Foghat, Aerosmith etc… Great interview and history of the band.

Great interview and segment, thank you! This brought back such great memories. As a teenager back in the ‘70’s I had the great fortune to meet the entire band and it was for me the thrill of a lifetime. They rehearsed in the basement of the music store where I took drum lessons. I actually played on Roger’s kit for part of my lessons. I remember hanging out outside the store and you could hear everything and I swear it felt like the building shook, lol! Great guys who were generous with their time and autographs. Not long after my teen years I gave up my passion for drums and took up a new passion, striped bass fishing. I believe Roger loved to fish also as the cover of Fool for the City depicted. Well in the ‘80’s my friends and I found a run of huge striped bass in the 30-40 lb range a stone’s throw from where Roger lived. To keep this place ‘secret’ when referencing it we just called it ‘Slow Ride Shores’. Sorry for the digression but I just felt the need to share my Slow Ride story, lol. Be well and keep these interviews coming!

I was in college in '76 and we went to a guys place to hang out, he had this going on his stereo system. I was hooked. Been a huge fan ever since. Slow Ride is amazing live. Saw Charlie and Bryan do it and my god it rocked.

Thanks for this interview John............Roger Earle is a great down to earth person. I will be 67 on June 25 and have been a Foghat fan since I was a teenager. I first saw them on the Fool for the City tour many years ago. I also saw the current line up 3 times (except for Scott Holt) but with Charlie Huhn on Guitar and Vocals. I have the new Sonic Mojo album on Vinyl and it is GREAT!! Have a great day John!

The first Foghat concert I went to was held in a relatively small ballroom that was open seating(standing). The most memorable part was just getting in there. The crowd had gathered on the sidewalk and was fairly large. Just before the doors opened, the crowd began to push very rapidly I suppose to try to get in first. I was literally picked up off my feet from the sidewalk's curb in the crush and somehow was one of the first ones inside. As, I was completely swept away from my friends that were with me, I stood just inside to find them. The whole time I watched the doormen fill up several garbage cans of all the booze the people brought. i never connected back with friends and ended up nearly one of the last ones in. Not so much a "Slowride"😜

You skipped right over the Rock and Roll album. The cover had just two pics, a literal rock, and a literal roll.

If I were to put together a classic rock playlist, I'd put "Slow Ride" in there, somewhere.

I hated that song. I cringed every time it came on the radio. If you buy the first Foghat album, you have everything you need from the band.
