It is a regular pump whose output goes to the ejector to create vacuum.

Because the heating used in fresh water generator comes from the jacket cooling water of the main engine which is usually around 75-85 degree celcius. Water usually boils at 100 degree at 1 atmospheric pressure. The eductor creates a vacuum in the evaporator which lowers the atmospheric pressure around -0.85 so that the evaporating point of water will also be lowered around 75-85 degrees. Since pressure directly proportional to temperature

The heat exchanger in the FWG is either plate type or shell and tube type. Rest functioning of the system will remain the same.

we taste the water to check if the salinometer is working properly or not.. what if the salinometer is not working properly and your entire freshwater is contaminated with saltwater? as it it; we are going to use the fresh watr for drinking and cooking purposes, right??

Gordon Brown Notice that the salinometer range is usually between 0 and 20 (Alfa Laval product at least), so we taste the water because if u have 100 or 180 ppm the water is not salty. The salinometer can show 20 ppm because its the maximum range and u are producing water with 100 ppm, in this case u are producing fresh water.

+Gordon Brown (Wanna be climber) salinometer is not always accurate. tasting the water in small amounts to check the salt content is usually the best way.
