Love Givens soo your saying that just because i brought up the fact that she is black AND vegan that it's less of a conversation about veganism? you know that makes zero sense right? Vegans who are black are a dime a dozen, just pointing out a fact. Calm down. But chances are you aren't even vegan, so why do you care so much?

Red meat made me feel the most fatigued... I cut it out over 3 yrs ago... then I went 6 months w/ out chicken. (Only eating fish) Now I've been following a vegetarian diet, but rarely eating dairy. I notice my bowel movements are more frequent & pass through easier lol I love feeling full & not sluggish.

I am transitioning, now, to eating a vegans diet. I used to eat a vegans diet, about, 11 years ago and looked and felt great. My skin was flawless and my bowels didn't smell as bad, like when I eat meat. Now, I'm fighting insulin resistance, which is close to being a pre diabetic and I refuse to become a diabetic. My biggest health goal for 2016 is to reverse my insulin resistance, lose more weight (I LOST 26 lbs this year) and return my darkness on my neck, from Acanthosis Nigricans, back to its original color.

Omg the insomnia part is so true! I had insomnia too and so did my 12 month old! We both went vegan nearly a month ago COLD TURKEY. She takes 2 naps a day and sleeps through the night. She had horrible sleep problems and was always exhausted! I had a lot of foggy brain as well and within 2 weeks of no meat my brain fog DISAPPEARED! And the food thing, you're so right.. Veganism is delicious, vegan butter, vegan cheese, vegan dressing etc.. Especially the gourmet stuff .. AMAZING! Kudos to you , I also was disgusted by the preparation and feasting portion of meat even fish. I was always disgusted by eating meat. My hormonal problems are also diminishing tremendously. Yay for veganism!!! I have a mostly raw food diet but my baked goods on occasion stay vegan :)

One thing I'm doing to live a healthier life is making smoothies for breakfast and driving a detox tea before bed! I've been doing this for a little over 2 months and I must say it has really been helping me and I've been feeling a lot better. And not to mention I've been losing weight. ☺ At first I had to get use to making good smoothie recipes but now I feel like I'm good at figuring out what works with what. I saw in your video that you use ground flaxseeds so I went out and purchased some for the sake of my smoothies. I use to have a bad habit of drinking soda but I haven't had a soda in 2 months and I've been dedicated to drinking smoothies and more water to keep me hydrated. I chose to start this healthier journey before new years because I don't like making resolutions since I never stick to them. I love making smoothies because it allows you to be creative and you can be your own smoothie boss!

How does your vegan diet affect your ability to eat with family and friends during the Holiday season? Do you have to request a special separate dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. from your family and friends? Also, does this prevent you from hosting gatherings for your non vegan friends/family?
@thechicnatural
@thechicnatural 8 жыл бұрын
+The Lioness Lane It takes a little creativity, but it isn't hard. For instance, I hosted Thanksgiving this year. I had turkey, ham etc for everyone else but almost all of the side dishes were made vegan. I then made a little meatless dish for myself. They were able to eat and I was able to eat, and with the exception of the meat we pretty much ate the same things.

I've always struggled with food. It's my comfort and I love flavors. Besides my love for food my other issues are motivation, time and cost. I'm at a point in my life were I feel extremely overwhelmed by life and I'm trying so hard to not give up for me and my family. Eventually I want to have a vegetarian diet but as of right now I've just been incorporating as much veggies as I can into whatever it is that I'm eating and drinking more water. I've also been trying to build my spirit up so that I can deal with life better which in turn will help me not to look to food as my comfort. I hope to purchase and read/listen to some good books on meditation, being more in present in the moment and treating my body better. Thanks for making this video!

It's funny you post this today, because I was just conversing with my daughter about a lifestyle change for the entire family. I know all to well about the insomnia and irritability ... Things that wouldn't normally bother me started irritating me quickly. Until one day my kids were like "mom you're getting mean." I knew it was true because I could feel it, plus I could see the difference in the me now as a pose to the me a few years ago. So she and I both decided it is time that we took control and responsibility for what we eat, how much we and the way we eat. I have a teenage son as well; who thankfully is pretty fit for his age (very active in sports). So my daughter & I have decided to take back control of our lives; and make better choices and decisions about our health! This time we're doing it together!! Thank you for sharing!!

I get disgusted eating chicken which is crazy because I used to love chicken! In 2013 I started working out and eating healthy. My mom was sick and dying of cancer at the time. She was my motivation. I would go visit her in the hospital and she would tell me how proud of me she was for living a healthy lifestyle. After she passed I gained back all 50+ pounds that I lost. I plan to find the motivation to get back on track and live a healthy lifestyle because when I watched my diet and worked out that's the best I've ever felt in my entire life. Happy holidays!

Great video. Well to start off I did some research on detoxing my body because of how I've been feeling these last few years and needed to take better care of my body and came across an article on Alkaline diet. I started out reading more into the Alkaline diet and before I start this diet I did a full body detox with natural herbs for 30 days and boy did I feel great. And doing the detox I started eating my high alkaline foods drinking plenty of spring water if I didn't have the Alkaline( but I did drink some Alkaline water plus I'm in the process of buying a alkaline machine). To make a long story short I'm gradually transitioning into a eating high Alkaline foods more I have given up a whole lot of meats and plus I felt the same as you did seen some video on how they treat the animals and read a lot. I do drink herbal smoothie majority of the time and salads until I continue research great Alkaline recipes. Have a Merry Christmas:-)

All of this has caused me to struggle with my health and eating right but I am rededicating myself to myself. Being "everybody's champ" has caused me to put my health in jeopardy but no more! I'm getting back in the gym, committing my mind to craving vegetables instead of crap and I'm looking to get into yoga to get more centered and take control of my thoughts and feelings. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and uterine fibroids in June. Studies have shown that when I take dairy out of my diet, it improves the function of my reproductive system and also alleviates some of the problems. So since about August of this year, I took dairy out my diet. It's been a struggle cuz I LOVE CHEESE, but it's working and I do see improvements. This is now a lifestyle for me and to be honest I'm excited for the future. 😊

Right now I am trying to cut out most of the process food and concentrate on maintaining a healthy weight. I lost about 40-70 lbs so far. My body has changed drastically in a good way. I feel as though that I can run and not feel like I am going to pass out. Water intake is one of the number one things that I am trying to concentrate on. I feel like I am not drinking enough water. Cutting out sodas and juices have helped me so much. Also documenting my progress by taking pictures and making videos on my channel has helped too.

Eating a vegan diet doesn't mean you have to be gluten free. You can omit gluten if you want to though (I personally don't). Good luck! :)

there really isn't anything wrong with gluten unless you're straight up intolerant to it.

yes more peace sleep and tranquility. its such a breeze, because of studying some times I fight sleep to stay up to study but my body has rule and i just go to sleep in the middle of what I'm doing and I'm out completely, its amazing. also I noticed if I do eat meat or meat products I get irritated and aggravated easily. So I have a lot of recipes and look for vegetables items on restaurant menu's. Subways has a veggie sub and also salads too. BBQ's here in NYC have veggie burgers Storkles, Cosi and a lot of restaurants are getting it together for us. so cheers to better eating.

I only eat chicken but I'm trying to get away from meat but I'm doing it slowly because I don't want to do anything drastic. I'm SO glad you're back! Missed ya!

I appreciate your honesty and its a great journey. It has been 4 months without meat and I am loving it. It can get a little challenging at times because I am learning my way to eating a healthier diet but its all worth it. For now I am a pescatarian. Great vid.

A vegan diet is cheaper than most people. A basic vegan diet consist of carbs and veggies. you can get a huge bag of rice, pasta, potatoes(sweet included). veggies can be bought frozen from stores like kroger or walmart for cheap( stay away from canned it's full of sodium). Fresh is of course the best. I don't know where you live but I am in GA and I spend $20 to $40 depending on what I buy, sometimes under $20 for 2 weeks worth of food. You dont have to buy organic if you cant afford it. Try shopping at framers markets or stores like Aldi. Recipes are in abundance on the Internet, pintrest, allrecipes, etc. it can be done and i only work part time.

Thanks for sharing! As far as my own health, I'm also making the (slow but steady) transition towards veganism as well as daily exercise. I cut out the fast food/snacks and used that money towards building my plant-based groceries and purchasing exercise friendly sneakers (with good support since I am very overweight), and putting the rest away. So this has also been a budget friendly endeavor as well. Right now I eat a lot of bananas, citrus fruits, spinach(my fav!), black beans, tomatoes, and brown rice. These have been my staple grocery foods for the past month and offer me a lot of variety in my diet. I've also started taking a daily supplement every morning before I walk (and recently, I've been able to also jog!) around my neighborhood. I've tried to make lifestyle changes before and always copped out, but I've been transitioning for almost 2 months now steadily (the longest I've ever kept to it) and this video is right on time! :)

Hey Kim! Next yr I plan to cut back on fast foods and social drinking tremendously! With my work schedule, grabbing something quick is the easiest thing to do, but I will put forth more effort and start a meal prep routine. I plan to utilize my home workout equipment and start back my regular workouts. Thanks for sharing with us!

i cut out dairy and sugar in my diet 3 years ago due really bad acne and the results for me were immediate, i used to eat meat once or twice a month, my acne dissapeared and i lost a lot of weight but this year in october i was diagnosed with breast cancer thats when i decided to take life in my own hands and face the responsibility, i have been on a completely vegan diet since then and juicing up to ten times a day. i am following a cancer therapy called the Gerson therapy. Like hippocrates said Let food be thy medicine.

I now only drink water and I've been doing this for almost 2 years now. Cut off fizzy drinks, dilute to taste etc. The only exceptions I can make are 100% fruit drinks e.g smoothies. Definitely cleared my skin, was hard at first but now I love water! Always have to have a bottle with me.

I love this video! On January 1st, I made a commitment to go vegan for a year. So far, the changes have been dramatic in my opinion. Cutting out dairy has deflated my stomach drastically! Like you said in your video, it opens a door to new foods and ideas of cooking. Originally my husband was against the idea. But, when he tried seitan, smoothie bowls, etc he was all in! Your videos have given me ideas to make this journey a fun one. Thanks!
