Find out how good you can hear with this hearing test. Turn your volume to a comfortable level and carefully listen to find out how low/high you can hear. Don't turn your volume up too loud or you could damage your ears!

Thanks for posting this simple video. I'm 23 and my grandparents as well as my dad are deaf, and my mom is hearing but is starting to loose range in her 40s due to ear infections so I'm super paranoid about my hearing. Without headphones it was hard, but I put on my noise cancelling headphones and I could hear from 20hz-15k. It starts off slow and deep kinda like a whirling box fan to a whistle tone. I know this doesn't replace going to a doctor or something, but it made me really happy to be able to hear such a wide range. Thanks.

14,000 Hz at age 43 and I am a bass player for a rock band and wear no hearing protection! All right! I couldn't hear below 300 Hz over my laptop cooling fan, and nothing showed up on my sound meter below 60 Hz but I know I can hear the low end, probably the limits of my laptop speakers.

My cat apparently did not hear as high as I did, so I may try again with some good headphones, when I find them. My cat quit around 10k and cats are supposed to hear higher than us humans.

I'm 34 and I could hear everything from 20 to 16k initially, but it all has to do with how high/low you have the volume of your speakers. After I went through it the first time I turned the volume up to listen to how the higher frequencies sound, then I set the volume back to how I had it and was able to pick the rest up after.

27, and I could hear the full frequency range; using the Sony MDR-Z7's and U7 amp/dac. Everything up to 10 KHz was exceptionally audible and easy to hear. Only at 19 kHz did it become subtle; still audible, however.

Most headphones have a limit to how highly pitched sounds they can play at 16 000 Hz
@AuroraLalune8 жыл бұрын
it was very loud. Apparently my young stepson found it quite comfortable but it was very loud to me. 20hz was loud, easily heard. However it kept on getting louder and louder and started to hurt to hear at about 2,000 then it got a little softer a little after 15,000 but heard it all the way to the end. However, had to put in headphones and keep them out and listen to what played through them, not in our ears but sort of their, because the computer speakers apparently have dead spots in what tones they can process. The head phones do not. They weren't in our ears but both of us could hear it with them laying on the desk. He had no pain from it but it was irritating at 1,000 and painful from 2,000 to 15,000. Didn't matter the level of volume. After that it was still loud until about 18,000. side note, at 8,000 i felt like my ears were going to burst and start bleeding. It isn't the volume but rather the pitch. at about 19,000 it suddenly starts getting soft, but still I could hear to the end. I wonder if their is a test that uses more lower tones as well as more higher tones. It would be interesting to find my threshhold.

Bum. Not as good as I hoped. 45 and from 20 to 13,000. It feels almost creepy and a bit disturbing to actually 'hear' the tone just fade into silence when it reaches the limit of my hearing, knowing younger people can still hear it. When you hear how high 13,000 is, it amazes me I could ever hear higher in the first place!
@josh-gt9fm8 жыл бұрын

+_JoshyYoshi_ Yeah, that wouldn't be too bad, given I have been to a LOT of concerts over the years (and continue to do so). I guess you also have to take into consideration the limitations of both speakers and KZbin's own compression and upper Hz recall. With other tests, if everything is quiet, I can differentiate between the sound being off or on way higher than that.

If you want to test your hearing don't use KZbin. It doesn't render frequencies higher than 16000 kHz. So that means that you must use a program such as audicity
9 жыл бұрын
The sound clearly stopped at 16KHz. If it would be my hearing limit, it would have faded very gradually till I hear nothing. So I presume that people saying that KZbin H.264 compression audio codec has freq limiter set to 16KHz are correct. However, there are acoustic subharmonics running through, and you can hear those since those are still in range.

I did not hear 19,000 HZ but everything before that was quite loud. I am not bragging because I know KZbin can't process that specific sound but I don't get how people can't hear 18,000 or less...
@VariantAEC7 жыл бұрын
You can't hear noises over 15kHz in this video because the AAC file format at 140kbps (according to the stats from within KZbin itself here) doesn't play nice with anything over 15kHz. I've tested this myself using audio editing software and the built-in plotting tools. Also capturing the sound from my computer as it plays on a separate device and putting that file under scrutiny reveals that sound over 15kHz is absent. There are sounds that play in this video beyond the 15kHz mark, but they aren't higher frequencies. Instead these are frequencies created by encoding errors they are only a bit higher that 15kHz something and then the frequency drops. After 18kHz there is noticeably less sounds and 19kHz ends the run only background noise from your machine is audible. That is my analysis of this video.
@VariantAEC7 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure I mentioned that the sound was attenuated which is why you're hearing noise. Problem is that the sound is not 19kHz.

This shouldn't be for testing your hearing, speakers have what is called a "frequency response" and they can only play sounds within that range. Majority of people here, thats your problem. I'm currently using the krk rp5s (g3) which have a frequency response of 45hz to 35khz. This means that my speakers cannot play anything very well below 45Hz and even at 45hz its faint.

But I just recently had a jaw surgery and have had a lower frequency hearing since, so I dont know. its kind of awkward because my doc says my face is still kind of swollen which might be the reason i cant hear it higher. Also, a little out of context, does anyone know how to cure/solve low frequency hearing? I dont even know if it's called that, but basically what happens is that the tones in music and voices is sort of darker and it has annoyed me for quite a while now. I'm not sure it's the swelling anymore. Any suggestions?

You need really good headphones to hear the lower frequencies, and youtube cuts out anything in the higher ones (which is why no one is actually able to hear above 16k in this video, because there isn't any noise)

20-19,000hz and I'm 28, though I only get an incredibly faint blip on 19,000. 18,000 is still clear though.

30 Hz to slightly over 14000Hz aged 32, almost 33. Over 400 Hz I started feeling nervous.

60-14000 and I'm 11. it randomly faded away at 9000 as well but came back in 3 seconds.

Interesting test. I'm 53, my hearing starts at 30hz and only goes up 14,000hz. I can barely hear 15,000hz and wouldn't detect it at all if there were other noises around. You kids in your teens, this is what you have to look forward to. I can't see shit either.

Mine kicked out at 12,000, -13,000, but up to 14,000 on another test which really surprises me, I know that I used to hear better than this. It must be from past trauma, sigh. 20 and 30 I feel more than hear, like a truck coming.

i highly doubt that the lo-fi encoding of this file allows anything higher than that 15-16000hz anyway/ It dissapears very suddenly.

If KZbin is only capable of outputting a maximum frequency of 17,000hz - then why am I able to hear above that? I was able to hear everything clearly, until about 1 second after 19,000hz began.

I'm 16 and I heard from 70- 14,000 HZ. I don't know what that means but lol, if I have hearing damage, it's probably due to the fact I hate when music is low. Not my fault; I just hope it's not permanent.

Wrong attempt. Take into account audio codec - it compresses and corrupts higher frequencies.In order to provide correct sample, you should find a way to add uncompressed (raw) audio to your file.Not sure if any video package format allows doing that 'officially'.

so I'm 16 and it litterally all sound stopped just before 19,000 popped up so do I count that or keep it 18,000
