Owned a hulk. Great watch. I'll never spend 10 k (26 now, secondhand!) on a watch again. Beat it to hell and sold it and made a fat profit. The subs should be 4k at most and be available left and right. 1k for an OP, 2k for a dj and 10k max for a stainless Daytona. Change my mind.

meh, Rolex is popular because of its prestige, and for 1-5k, they have the Tudor line. I’d say in an ideal world, keeping Tudor, so it isn’t obsolete, Sub - £4-6k depending on metals, 2-3k for OP, 4-5 for a datejust (white gold/gold) and around 15-18k for a daytona, maybe more if it’s gold etc, with GMTs sitting at between 6-10k, DayDates at 15-20k, and sky dwellers 20k plus

My most recent purchase was about 2 months ago - a blue dial VC overseas, over my original plan of a skydweller, for the very reason that I have grown fonder of other brands over rolex, particularly due to how they operate.

@@khxn9029 If prestige is just brand recognition, then one might as well get ripped off by MVMT as by Rolex. VC is a genuinely prestigious brand, however. Legendary quality and illustrious history are objective metrics, after all. Brands like JLC and Blancpain can also claim prestige in this regard. As, actually, can Grand Seiko at this stage. They have a more interesting brand history and more of a reputation for sheer quality than Rolex, after all.

I have a real submariner and a real sea dweller 4000 ref 116600 and I also have a fake submariner with a clone 3135 movement and according to my timegrapher it keeps as good of time or better +-3 seconds a day as my real ones which is surprising to me but it is what it is.

The clasp is NOT correct. This is the Rolex Perpetual clasp. I own the real version of this piece. And since this is in the Professional Sports Model range it has a Flip Lock clasp with the easy link 5mm extension. Hope this helps bro.

I wouldn't recommend tag. They are way over-priced at the lower end of what they offer. You have to spend at least 4k to get a decent piece from tag. If i was buying anything heuer it would be vintage for sure unless it was something in the carrera line-up . There are however many swiss brands that do offer great bang for buck under the $1000. Most swatch group brands offer great quality and for a little more Oris offers exceptional quality. My first swiss piece was a Ref 7543 40mm big crown pointer on bracelet. 20 yrs later and i still keep that watch in rotation.

I just can’t give any respect towards a fake. It’s not right, and you can get amazing legit watches from real brands for $10-$100. Most likely they would be looking at something under $1000 and realistically probably more around the $500 mark. When i first started collecting i thought id never spend what i have on a single watch. Ive also seen videos on YT where people buy cheap chinese quartz blinged out watches with fake diamonds and they were testing them with diamond selectors to see if they passed on the hardness scale. Some of these watchs cost upwards of $1000😖. They dont realize for what they spent they could of purchased a decent watch.

Your description of the video bears little resemblance to its actual content. A lot of verbage, but little is actually identified as to the distinguishing features of the fake. Repeated comments such as 'poor quality' and 'not that nice' or 'you can just tell the difference', but little substance that would allow the viewer to understand what exactly distinguishes the fake from the genuine, whether pertaining to the case, the dial, the hands, the markers, the crystal, the bracelet, the clasp or the movement --- and precisely how those components differ, if at all, between fake and original. The Explorer in the video is never identified as to the reference number it is emulating --- something that's important to know --- and it looks like it was just pulled out of a dumpster. It also doesn't appear to have the correct clasp regardless of the model reference. (It has an Oyster Perpetual clasp, while the Explorer has a flip lock clasp.) There is no actual side by side (visual) comparison with the genuine Explorer, making it difficult to see the distinctions. Hate to be critical but you do need to work on both sustance and style.

There were a few fake to real comparison vids from a few popular watch youtubers, the vast majority as warnings with "tells" to look for to save potential buyers from being stung, with some quite surprised at how close some of the "high quality" fakes came to the real. From what I can see all have been deleted. I have absolutely zero truck with fakes, but I suspect it's not the cheap obvious fakes that have Rolex et al concerned. It's the 1000 quid fakes of 10,000 quid watches that get so close that the market might start asking the worrying question; where's the extra 9000 "value"? As the tech of short run manufacturing gets better and cheaper I suspect that's a question that will become increasingly hard to answer.
