Funfact, in VGC 2015, Entei was the most common Fire type on Rain teams. Being intimidated was a given, so Sacred Fire's damage output was less important than the burn anyways against Mega Kang and opponents usually wouldn't bring Lando-T against Rain, meaning it could setup and be ready behind a sub for when Rain expired. But most notably, it was a meta-choice from Rain teams to beat rain-hardcounters like Scizor and Ferrothorn.

It could, if Entei was a dog. Except none of the Legendary Beasts are dogs. Raikou is probably the most obvious cat since it's based on a sabertooth tiger, but Suicune is also based on a panther with antlers, and Entei is based on a lion, which is actually pretty badass and makes you wish he was voiced by James Earl Jones in the movie.

It will always baffle me why the devs decided to design so many of the old pokemon to not have a good stat spread to compliment their typing before gen 4. Why does Entei, Flareon and Ho-oh have higher attack than special attack?? And then, when they can finally use their superior stat, why did it take several generations for flareon and entei to get good moves? It's just such a strange design, especially when they made Raikou, Suicune and the other eeveelutions so much better.

Pyroar isn't a physical fire type, and as far as Darmanitan, I think UU in BW and RU on is pretty good for a pure fire type, at least it has the movepool to be a physical fire Pokemon

Entelarmer I mean it’s not the best type by any stretch at all but offensive wise it does alright. Like it’s no where near poison, bug, rock or ice levels of bad. I mean it can handle steel and resists fairy, 2 of arguably the best types in the game right now. There are other fire types like mega charizard, blaziken, volcarona, Incineroar that are all pretty good (the fire typing isn’t really a factor that hinders them like bug or ice does where the strongest of those types are in spite of the bad type)

Mega Charizards have both (Flying for Ground and Dragon for Water, plus they have broken tools), just like Blaziken (Speed Boost + Fighting type). Volcarona has broken tools (Quiver Dance, Good Speed with very high SPATK) along with Victini, and Incineroar... well, it isn't even UU or ranked there (?). Yeah it,s great in doubles... but that's a completely different thing. Also, you see Ice types and Bug types as "worse types", and yea, they kind of are. However, Bug is kind of arguable, as it isn't weak to dominant types aside from Rock (and resists Ground), wheras Fire gets wrecked by Water, Ground, Rock and Water, all of which are extremely popular. It doesn't matter that Fire has more resistances if it's weak to common moves.

Entelarmer I was talking doubles for Incineroar. Bug type has got unfavourable weaknesses like fire, flying, rock so not that good along with few resistances. You can’t really make the argument of fire types are only good in conjunction with something else and otherwise the type is rarely seen when this logic applies to every type. Pretty much any Pokémon that is good now will have at least one broken tool and exceptions are few and far between for every type. Fire types are generally popular for the fire water grass cores. Look I’m not saying that fire type is one of the best types but it’s definitely not the worst. It’s right in the middle. Imo slightly above average but those are opinions. Fire struggles with water, ground and rock and sure this sucks for them but like I previously mentioned super effective against steel and resistances like fairy keeps the type somewhat relevant. I consider whether a type is good or bad depending on if it hinders the Pokémon it’s on or benefits them. For fires case it’s fair both ways
