Notice I said POPULAR formats, meaning a format where there is a significant amount of people who compete in it for tournaments and so on and so forth. Now Popular does not mean official even though two of the formats I will be covering were official formats being Japan Nintendo Cup and VGC, but it is an indicator of what a good portion of competitive players thought was “optimal” at the time. Also sometimes the Pokemon Battle Historia doesn't provide enough information to talk about certain Pokemon so I add Smogon analysis to make sense of it. This is pretty rare though.
To the people asking why I don't cover Smogon Singles for Gens 1 and 2: It wouldn't really be a history video if I covered those because online Smogon gen 1 meta to my knowledge wasn't actually played until late 2000s. I wanted to cover tournaments/competitive battling that was actually played during the early years of Pokemon (late 90s).
To the people asking why I cover Smogon at all for singles: To my knowledge, Smogon was the most popular format for Gens 3-5 and held a number of tournaments throughout the years. As for Gen 6, I am not covering Battle Spot Singles because there is more information and explanations about sets being used relative to their own meta on Smogon. In other words, there are few written analyses about Battle Spot Pokemon besides the Top tiers and I would like to avoid theorycrafting because it may have a hint of bias (though I theorycraft if I REALLY couldn't find information on a certain Pokemon). The keyword here is explanations. Though I did find statistics of most Pokemon used and most moves used, there wasn't really any explanations on why. Also the few Pokemon I did find analysis of for Top Tier Battle Spot Singles had very similar move sets to the Smogon OU sets anyway.
For the record, I do not care what rules or formats people play their battles by nor am I saying these formats are the only formats that should be played. The way you play Pokemon is between you and your opponent and I will not fault you for using evasion or whatever, I just like examining popular tournament formats.

Gen 7 Mechanics changed a lot for dugtrio, Tectonic Rage + Higher attack stat made it so that it did its job a little bit better than it did before. The introduciton of toxapex was another big thing because Dugtrio literaly traps all the pokemon that can beat it.

Yeah. But it was kinda bullshit to ban Arena Trap. Shadow Tag I get because of who has it. But Arena Trap is ineffective to Flying types, and phasing ruins it. The same thing for Baton Pass, just use Roar or Haze and that's it. Any sort of prediction ruins it all. While GeoPass Smeargle is stupidly overpowered, it shouldn't make Baton Pass illegal altogether. Smogon overall takes away the fun from competitive battling. They should just keep things the way they were in Gen 3-4. There were no complex bans except for Uber Pokemon. Okay wow I rambled too long, tl;dr Smogon has gotta let fun happen and unban Baton Pass and trapping.

Gardevoir isn't alone in that dynamic, a lot of very powerful pokemon start off weaker and take a while to train up. Most of the pseudo-legendary dragons have very high evolution levels, and Gyarados/Milotic are two really neat pokemon that start off useless. Still, its pretty cool, and its a nice parallel to

Mega Gardevoir is currently BL. Tapu Lele. That is all. Gardevoir dropped all the way down to RU. Primarina pretty much does everything better than it in UU. Gen 7 appears to have destroyed another good Pokémon.

I agree that Ubers in general don't get enough attention by this channel's followers (myself included). Maybe when I go back to requesting Ghosts I'll ask for Giratina. Mew itself was also in Ubers in the early Gens. I'm too lazy right now to check what exact Generation it got unbanned from OU, though I'm sure it was between 3 and 5, and it would remain allowed in OU up until now.

The set I used on my Mega Gardevoir was actually an all out attacking set. Draining Kiss, Hyper Voice, Psychic and a coverage move. The trick with my set is first setting it up with a Iron Defense/Baton Pass Scizor. This set can potentially make Gardevoir unkillable.

Although I never used her, I knew that she was somewhat like Lucario (regarding competitive history). Fairly good/decent in it's debut, overshadowed in the middle gen, and then good again with a Mega Evolution. Also, props to FSG for making an entire video about this Pokémon without making a single reference to her infamous internet history.

Ninjask was good until Gen V as a boost Baton Passer. The abundance of Stealth Rock made it unviable. And Shedinja... Wonder Guard sounds interesting, but it dies to basically everything called status, entry hazards, Hail or Sandstorm

Shedinja actually saw use in gen 3-5 ubers, due to it completely walling most Kyogre sets.

The thing you do have when it comes to the empty shell is the fact the opponent never knows what it has insurance against: Status? (Lum Berry) Weather? (Safety Goggles) Direct attacks? (Focus Sash) And it honestly got more tools over time. Most notably Shadow Sneak. Still, when Knock Off got buffed and about everyon started to use it, Shedinja could pretty much be sure someone could hit it the Direct Damage road...

In general 3 my Lilith/Gardevoir was quite deadly , I had her with synchronize with her attacks being psychic , hypnosis , dream eater , and thunderbolt being able to decimate elite 4 & champion very quickly at that. 😊😋

I like Gardevoir as a solid all rounder. Have it in your 3 and it’s a solid bet to open with due to that huge move pool and special stat
