How GOOD was Khabib Nurmagomedov Actually?
Khabib Nurmagomedov is without a doubt one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. The wrestler from Dagestan dominated everyone that came his way. This lead to him capturing the UFC Lightweight championship, a belt he defended 3 times. And those title fights did huge numbers for the promotion. He retired undefeated with a record of 29-0, leaving the sport as the pound for pound best fighter. But that doesn't necessarily make him the greatest of all time. So how good was Khabib Nurmagomedov actually?

Ben Askren raised an excellent point when discussing the Khabib vs Jones title defences on the Schmozone. He mentioned that the UFC didn't give Khabib a title shot until very late in his career. If he'd been given the chance earlier, he would've had many more championship defences considering he retired undefeated.

Also, all his fights against fighters who are relatively young like Reyes and Santon are close decisions, and you can make the arguement that Jones Vs Gus 1, Jones Vs Santos, Jones Vs Reyes were all loses on Jones’s part, especially the Reyes fight.

people don't realize that khabib had 200 sambo matches and all his fights prior to ufc were not in a cage. his opponents in ufc were handicapped by ufc rules and the octagon which is why he dominated it even more soo than prior ufc competition. all these guys out of the caucasus region are dominant if not really really good competitors in the UFC cause they have been facing tough competition prior to UFC. if khabib fought 16 bums , he would've been exposed in the UFC but that never even happened not even for a round.

People discussing Jones is better forgets about something called INTEGRITY, remember all the times Bones was caught using roids? All the partying and drug abuse? The countless times he got involved with law enforcement? How about the countless eye pokes and the twelve to six elbow? He might have more defenses but his career is stained all around, while Khabib was never caught using roids, and never caught in controversy ( despite jump kicking conor team which was hilarious)

@@zenmorte2793 Before I get into this just want to say Khabib is my favorite fighter and I agree that his legacy is much greater than Jones. However, Jones's USADA pops aren't as prolific or as damning as many seems to think. The partying and cocaine usage may speak to him as a person but not as a fighter. The eye pokes are the biggest issues for me, but 12 to 6 elbows are a jokes. Overall, I think the steroid and eyepokes are what prevent him from having a great legacy. But I do think he is the best fighter of all time. Silva has the same steroid issue, I don't really care about his recent losses though as he is clearly over the hill.

I said that his steroid usage tainted his record but he clearly hasn't been using them his whole career. Love your videos !! And your very knowledgeable! But he did not dominate Justin. His wrestling and submissions are second to none, but that leg was giving out and Justin landed some great shots

He has done Anderson Silva, but the video got taken down because of copyright issues. Damn shame since it was a good video. They also took down his Brock Lesnar video for the same reason.

The 21 takedown fight is the first fight I saw Khabib, definitely didn’t see how good he was til later on tho, but I thought that 21 TD was INSANE for a 15 min fight

Khabib is definately one of the top 10 best ever but WOW since hes trending so much, especially in the middle east, people are really suddenly putting down all the greats and calling him the best ever. GSP is absolutely still the 🐐.

You are not being fair calling him a top 10 when he cant be out of the top 2 of all time, the other being GSP. And dont make this about trending, he has dominated and crushed his competition like no one else and barely lost a round, and did it in the toughest division ever.

As an outspoken atheist, khabibis that kind of man that makes me want to be wrong. Because i would love to see him in a place like heaven, reunited with his father when his time comes. I dont want to turn this into a debate on religion. This is just how i feel about certain people. Every now and again, i will come across certain people that make me think, that if anyone deserves a place in heaven, it would be them. Khabib is one of those.

His claim as the goat... please point out where it was his claim! All he asked was to be placed number 1 as pound for pound number after his fight against gaethje! You are just a researcher...do your work well sir
