I think his golden oppertunity was after Khabib retired. If he could've made it down to 155 in that window, the fight options there are fucking insane. Diaz vs Poirier Diaz vs Oliveira Diaz vs Gathje Diaz vs Chandler All bangers, and with the majority of them being strikers, that was probably the best time he could've ever possibly become a champion.

Nate Diaz has shown us that he is an excellent martial artist and is deadly in pretty much all of his fights. Not unbeatable by the elite but definitely up there with them.

The best thing about Nate was the fact that he didn’t care about belts, he didn’t care about points, or politics in the fight game or any of that shit. He just wanted to fight and get paid. Even though he could’ve probably won a title had he taken most of his fights more seriously and actually utilized his world-class level jiu jitsu instead of just going toe to toe with everybody. I’d still much rather have him put on a helluva fight than just submit everybody on the roster though.

The only thing that held Nate and even Nick back fighting wise was the fact that they never made mid fight adjustments. The game plan never changed. Move forward with 1,2 and 1,2,3 combos. If their opponents were reading that and picking it they just kept doing the same thing 1,2,3. The josh Thompson and Masvidal fights are perfect examples

I loved how he fought against Pettis. Really utilized a lot more of his weapons besides boxing, and he didn't let himself get leg kicked over and over. Kept some distance until deciding to go. ACTUALLY checked a kick that really hurt Pettis at the start of round 2 or 3. But after this fight he moved away from that and then Masvidal, Leon and even Tony kicked the hell out of him lol, just like RDA, Conor and lot of his past opponents did. Defending kicks was definitely a glaring hole in his game, but Nate was just so tough it kind of leveled out in a way

Nate was one of those dudes who didn’t care win or lose. He didn’t like Dana and the ufc and all they stood for he just liked fighting and talking smack. He never wanted the belt. Believe Dana controlled a lot of the strings and well Nate just wanted to fight the best win or lose. Eventually I think it became a money thing and Nate finally started to realize how much he didn’t like dana and the ufc. If that all makes sense

Nate Diaz had a bottomless gas tank and absolutely legendary toughness. He was old school bad ass tough. Nate would have been comfortable with the old tournament style where participants fought two or three times in a night to win. Every time he fought there was blood on the floor and if you tried to judge the who won the fight by looking at the fighter's faces at the post fight presser, sometimes it would be hard to tell if Diaz won or lost. But win or lose it didn't matter to him or the fans. He entered the cage to fight and he never disappointed. He wasn't an opponent that anyone took lightly. Anyone who fought Nate Diaz would have to prepare for war. All you need to know about Nate Diaz is he stopped the Connor hype train cold.

Nate is a very skilled fighter but his biggest asset is his strong jaw. He is impossible to knock out, which is very demoralizing for his opponent. Any other fighter would have been out in the first rounds without a chance to come back after his opponent got tired.
