I never did like to think of Nick as the original “bad boy” of mma ( title technically belonging to Tito Ortiz ) to me he was the first enigmatic yet misunderstood antagonist of mma. As a life long fan of the UFC and mma in general, to me he really was the first guy to not only shun the spotlight that being in the UFC brings, but speak his true feelings and thoughts when he rarely chose to do interviews even if people didint like it or judged him because of his awkward/stand offish demeanor due to his social anxiety. He was the first fighter that chose to not embrace the fame and stick to his true self even if it meant making him out to be the “bad guy” back then. It’s not that he never gave a fuck and was careless or ignorant, he just refused to be one of those fighters to change there whole persona and put on a fake act for fans once they got a little bit of fame.

I went to a sports bar in Stockton the night Nick fought Anderson Silva and it was wild. The amount of love Nick gets in the 209 is an amazing thing to behold. Still - Anderson clearly won, and the whole place went nuts and started booing like it was a bad decision. Says a *LOT* about Nick that Anderson juiced to the gills before the fight. I thought that since they both failed their tests the athletic commission should have just left it alone.

@eldenlean52214 жыл бұрын
@@Awt981 that's not how KO's work lol you might argue that thc can numb you, thus helping you take punch. But when it comes to KO's it don't matter how tense or relaxed your brain is. Either your brain bounces against your skull hard enough to fuck up the ectrolyte balance in your brain, which requires your body to use all the energy available to regain that balance(which results in your body shutting down) or you get hit in the chin hard enough your body has to go limp to avoid your jaw crushing your trachea. Although on second thought in the latter maybe weed does help🤔

Weed doesn't slow reflexes at least in people who use it regularly
@javiernegron26334 жыл бұрын
Damn no one knows how weed works huh. It doesn’t necessarily slow down your reflexes per se. I have really crazy ninja reflex moments when I’m high and also really stupid slow moments. It just depends on the day and the weed mostly. It also doesn’t numb you like opioids do, it definitely makes pain easier to deal with but it doesn’t make you numb by any means. Weed lowers blood pressure and expands your blood vessels as well, which means that blood flows better through your body and therefore you can exercise for longer. I’ve had high training sessions that make me look at it like EPO minus turning your blood into yogurt. Not only that, it allows you to flow a lot better, which is why a lot of high level (no pun intended) BJJ guys smoke weed. You just see openings that you wouldn’t see if you were sober. So it definitely is a performance enhancer in several ways, just not in the same way as steroids

But I don't understand why still to this day even professional MMA analysts and media personnel always say the Diaz brothers love to fight! No, they really don't and if you did any research at all you would know they really don't like it. A lot of videos I saw when Nick Diaz was partying and stuff (which really worried me it seemed like drinking and parting got the better of him so I'm happy he's back training and in shape) in his video he was talking on his live stream to someone like do you want to pay me to get kicked in the head for your entertainment? Also he doesn't enjoy hurting people like they are some straight up g's and if you cross the line or disrespect they will scrap but they've both stated that they don't like to do that and I think that's the biggest misconception is people think that the Diaz brothers are like thugs and that is farthest from the truth they just keep it real. Which unfortunately very very very few fighters do, especially since Connor came along

@Tyler Riggs It's a completely different kind of fight. He never lost due to lack of cardio. He lost when he took a ton of damage, nothing to do with running out of gas. In a 5 round fight it's 25 minutes with a minute break between rounds. That's 5 minutes to catch your breath throughout, take that away and it becomes a whole different beast. Royce Gracie would have lost a ton of fights if it was in the round system, but with no scoring and all the time he needed, he caught people.
