Looking down a girl for being a cheerleader was Courtney's “not like other girls”︎︎︎︎︎︎ moment. The she (wrongfully) attributed Gwen's success to the men in her life explains why she slept with them, she needed a boost for her lacking career and only being recognizable through her own dead ex. Typical pick me at the end of the day and Gwen proved her wrong.

I didn’t mind her saying gwen was a cheerleader and she wasn’t. She could’ve meant it as shes a rebel rocker chick and Gwen is more polished/popular. But then she kept digging so clearly she was being hateful. Also He’s Kurt Cobain not Courtney’s dead ex 😐

The fact that people still look down on Cheerleaders when they cheer for basketball and football season, practice eight hours a day, pull difficult and dangerous stunts, tumbling, and make it all look easy. It's also the sport where girls statistically get the most injuries, so I find it a bit misogynistic that people (especially those like Courtney) still look down on cheerleading even though it's changed a lot since its inception. Gwen is like a cheerleader; hardworking, bubbly, and creative, just like the song! Courtney Love tried to insult her, but accidentally gave her a compliment. I'm just glad we got this iconic song out of it!
@molly8632 жыл бұрын
It’s so dumb. The majority of the cheerleaders at my school were also involved in school clubs that required high grades to join. Unless the coaches encourage poor ethics towards school, I think a lot of the time student athletes are very good students who contribute a lot to their schools. It’s just an easy to reach for stereotype to say the jocks and cheerleaders are the worthless pretty people or just bullies or whatever. All people are all kinds of things, and being a cheerleader doesn’t take away someone’s value and shouldn’t be an insult.

Only if Gwen clings to an idea of herself as NOT the pretty, popular figure would that in any way bother her. I always thought this song was a diss to Nelly Furtado because I thought "Give it To Me" (a song Nelly, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake did) was Nelly's clapback to "Hollaback Girl" lol

How did Courtney talk bad about cheerleaders? She literally said she’s not the popular girl, she’s never looked down on the figure of the cheerleader.

Such an unexpected beef. I would think Courtney would be more accepting and happy for Gwen and vice versa.

I see it now, the music video embodied Courtney's comment, the highschool and cheerleaders, lol 😂 Gwen is funny. Loved the Socal chula and Japanese fashion fusion, loved that Pharrell got involved. The song is catchy, overall total package. Backstory, diss track, fashion, upbeat, iconic.

Well, if we're talking high school, Gwen would have ruled the drama club and Courtney would have detention for life. I love and appreciate them both but I don't see a duet on the horizon.

Courtney Love is 1 controversial lady, baby, woman, girl, gal, babe, female, goddess, wife, mother, daughter, friend, lover, rocker, feminist, perfectionist, etc. Sounds more like little miss world's American grunge sweetheart. 🤭 🤭 🤭 🤭

sounds like Courtney is a fan... how would you know so much about Gwen's career behind the scenes? so glad she took the high road. and I shouldn't be surprised that Hollar Back Girl was inspired by a Black woman, Naomi Campbell. Hope she's collecting her cheques...

Gwen use to make clothes in high school and was into fashion. So I don’t know what Courtney was talking about 🙄 Courtney always had a bad habit of putting her foot in her mouth. Gwen came out winning and she didn’t even have try 💯😎
