A friend asked if I was going to install a security camera system would I choose CCTV or wireless? I told him I would install a closed circuit system, but it takes proper planning, installation of equipment & cable management to ensure any physical attack will be very difficult. I then heard his wife say that wifi cameras would be easier & cheaper. I told her that I agree with her statement & left it at that. Once they got a system it took me and a friend sometime but we did manage to compromise their system. LMFAO.

@@kowlovo What does PoE (Power over Ethernet) have to do with anything in this situation. I don't think you know what that means. Did you mean PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) which is an outdated VPN protocol that is just as insecure as an unencrypted connection? OpenVPN is a newer protocol that isn't so insecure and is even easier to setup on a DD WRT router. PPTP isn't even supported on iOS devices anymore.

Turn off your location services, notably the GPS radio/sensor. It is a serious drain on the battery anyway. Especially if you share photos on the internet, your photos should not have GPS latitude and longitude information. Photos can be downloaded, that data access, leading a stalker with turn-by-turn directions to your home. In a moral and trusting world, that info might be useful. But in the current world, who on the internet needs to know where the photos were taken, as if your descriptions doesn't already tell them all they need to know? Is it not enough that photos are date and time stamped? If your camera app has a relevant setting, tell it to not store any location info on your photos.

Hiring a security company that installs door & window contacts, glass breakage detectors is better than a live camera. I understand that people hate paying for a service but it’s safer than this. I pay $95 quarterly and if anyone tries to break a window or get into a door an alarm goes off so loud it’s deafening. Gives you enough time to grab your gun and protect your loved ones.
@oznewton74812 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that a security system is better. They have their flaws as well. A loud sound might scare someone away. But don't you want to know who is trying to break in? Don't you want to stop the person before they break in? And yes, the monitoring company will call the police. But all of that takes time. Who's walking up to your front door right now? Did you know three people are in your backyard? Glass breaks, the alarm goes off, and they're already in your home. How many people broke in? Where are they? Surveillance systems are safer. They, too, have alarms, and they're built into the camera. You're wasting $380 a year on outdated services. And people don't only use cameras for security. They also use them for in-home surveillance. Like if you want to keep an eye on a pet, babysitter, or an elderly family member. Home security cameras have come a long way in the three years since this video was made. And I think the lesson here is not to be goofy with passwords.

Shame on those who traumatize children or anyone else. Most everyone in the world has a cell phone so everyone is probably being watched or heard. As the times change and we go further into electronics the less we do for ourselves....i can open my own door, turn on my own lights, move the thermostat... lets not get that lazy that we forget how to be alive. @electricflixproductions5 жыл бұрын
It's not the technology's fault that people aren't educated on basic internet security. 1. Never let devices especially ones that are off brand use UPnP port forwarding. 1b. Never mindlessly port forward on your router, this makes a hole in your firewall and lets traffic into your LAN network. Port forwarding is needed for services or programs such as security camera NVR's and other things need to be access outside of your LAN network. One way to solve this is to use OpenVPN on your router or invest in a second router to port forward through, then block all traffic to your LAN network. 2. Don't enter your credentials to any site or program in an email link or from a website popup, always match the URL of the website to the official one so you don't accidentally give information to hackers. 3. Don't buy cheap unbranded China crap, if possible always buy the real deal to insure the devices aren't shipping your personal data back to their foreign servers. 4. Lastly have common sense, you don't need to live in fear online if you don't give away your information and stay anonymous. Most of the time hackers don't find you, you find them.

@justanoman64976 жыл бұрын
Part of the hacking involved phishing, which is also a compromise due to human error. And to go a step further than that, clicking on random links can get malware installed on your phone, which can in fact effectively negate two factor authentication. In fact, beware of any apps that ask to be able to handle your messages, because that can be used for the same interception. For as long as there is human, nothing can ever be completely safe. Only relative better to make hackers jump through more hoops.

I have a surveillance computer that records everything and that can be connected to the internet when I'm on vacation. However all cameras are on separate networks, everything has to go through the computer that gets constant updates to keep it secure. Even though I take precautions, as unlikely as it is, getting hacked is still a possibly. Hence no cameras inside my home.
