Green Beret Chronicles

Күн бұрын

The US Army Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC or "Q Course") is designed to test and develop the skills, perseverance, and tactical acumen of prospective Green Berets. Here’s a closer look at the training and its key components:
Length and Phases
The Q Course can last anywhere from 53 weeks to over two years, depending on the soldier’s specialty and the specific demands of their role. The course is segmented into several phases:
1. **Orientation and History Phase (Phase I)**: This initial phase introduces candidates to the Special Forces mission and history, setting the cultural and professional expectations of a Green Beret.
2. **Language and Culture Phase (Phase II)**: Candidates undergo intensive language training relevant to the region they'll be assigned to operate in, as well as cultural training to effectively interact with and respect local customs.
3. **Small Unit Tactics and SERE Phase (Phase III)**: This crucial phase covers advanced tactical skills necessary for guerrilla warfare, reconnaissance, and direct action missions. It also includes Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training, teaching candidates how to survive behind enemy lines.
4. **MOS Qualification Phase (Phase IV)**: Candidates receive specialized training in their chosen Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) such as weapons, engineering, medical, or communications.
5. **Collective Training Phase (Phase V)**: This phase involves collective training where candidates apply all they have learned in a team setting, performing various operational drills and exercises.
6. **Nutritional Phase (Phase VI)**: Also known as the "Robin Sage" exercise, this is the final phase where candidates apply their skills in a real-world setting, participating in a complex guerrilla-warfare exercise.
Selection and Assessment
Throughout the course, candidates are continually assessed not just on their physical capabilities but also on their leadership skills, decision-making, adaptability to rapidly changing scenarios, and psychological resilience.
Earning the Green Beret
Only those who successfully pass all phases and meet all the rigorous standards will earn the coveted Green Beret, symbolizing their acceptance into the ranks of this elite group. Green Berets are then deployed on missions around the world, often involving unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-terrorism, and counter-insurgency operations.
This qualification course is known for its intensity and complexity, designed to prepare the finest soldiers for high-stakes environments where they operate autonomously in small teams, often in hostile territories. The training not only prepares them for physical challenges but also sharpens their cognitive and emotional skills necessary to lead on the battlefield and in cooperative missions with allies and civilian populations.

All bout Preparation and never stop learning Sgt Maj. Learn basic patrolling, how to use a demo card and set basic charges, learn to call fire, mortars and arty, volunteer for airborne, learn basic first aid up to the EMT level, yada yada, all can be found on Ytube, and that gives the younger dudes a solid base to succeed!

Question: Since Languages have been moved to final phase, this obviously means there's no language requirement in Robin Sage... Seems a bit of a wasted opportunity... No using language for building rapport? Can you clarify please? Tnx.
@benbroughton2151
@benbroughton2151 Ай бұрын
Robin Sage is with locals. Using language would require the locals to know that language, which means the locals would need to know Russian, Spanish, Arabic, etc. This is unrealistic, and the focus is on being able to operate in Pineland, a very American looking and sounding place

Signed a 18x. Question is, what advice would you give a candidate for getting through basic & airborne to continue to stay in shape during that time period? I’m 25 now and a former college ath and graduate. Staying focus and focusing on my why is a strong suit. Getting distracted, with alcohol, woman, and etc that typical young men fall into will not be problem. Have no issue being a nomad during that time to stay focus and prepared for what comes after basic; but don’t want to come off like my shit doesn’t stink.

You're a college grad? why did you do 18x? I would've told you sign a 4 year contract guard or active and go try to drill with 19th or 20th group (even if youre active if your leadership is cool they'll let you drill with a guard unit)

@@xBlankScreenDenmark I worked with psyops and Civil affairs my first tour in Iraq. The unit was guard unit out of ft bragg and one of the dudes in CA I talked to told me he tried out for selection. Obviously he didn’t make it for whatever reasons but it is possible. This is just my opinion but CA and psyops work closely to some SF units as support so it’s highly possible. You can be any mos and try out for selection. It’s just a matter of if your unit will be highly supportive or not. Your unit can’t hold you back from dropping your selection packet. Just be aware that if you drop your packet for selection and don’t make it first time go, you might get crapped on by your unit when you get back. So you need to be super motivated and hungry to cross over to unconventional.
