I'm six foot five tall, weigh 260 pounds with a full, long beard. I live in a third tier city as well, so rarely see other foreigners. When ever I go to the supermarket people will come up to my trolley and examine what I've put in there and children either run or find me fascinating. It no longer bothers me, indeed living in China has mellowed me out no end. You either sink or swim here.

Oh my god Winston that's awesome. I live in Milwaukee (smaller city north of Chicago in the US if you haven't heard of it) and people do the emergency lane thing here with absolutely no shame. I've taken to your lane-splitting method for the past year or so and it has helped greatly. It's also really satisfying to just say no to those assholes. I haven't gone so far as to open my doors, but it's especially great when getting on the highway in rush hour, just selecting my rightful place in traffic and driving next to it until the lanes completely merge so that no one can ruin the traffic flow further for everyone by speeding ahead and forcing their way in at the last moment.

as well as Japan, China also has a high sense of responsibility for their family members in later life. People would rather care for their parents than put them in an aged care facility. Here in the west, a lot of people would rather not put their parents into aged care, but circumstances can force that hand. China's very family orientated.

I’ve been there numerous times riding my motorcycle across the state. Don’t wear orange during football season or eggs will be thrown at you. Crimson Tide guys stopped short when they saw my 1993 University Of Texas Jersey which luckily has the “hookem horns” logo on it. They stopped me and suggested that I either change my shirt or put my motorcycle jacket back on. Apparently, Texas is not on their hate list, but Tennessee is which also shares the color Orange.

One of my friends here in Melbourne, originally from China, had her license in China. She considered herself a good driver. When she tried to get her license here, she failed 3 times because of her bad habits from China. Things like ignoring stop signs and cutting people off (typical in China). She now understands what it is to be a good driver.

One thing that always amazed me in second tier cities like Fuzhou, that the crosswalks are ignored by the cars. I always loved messing with the cars. Keeping safe, but forcing the cars to stop when they are making a right turn at a traffic light. Billions of people and they do not force the cars to yield. I would be carrying a big shopping bag hold it out with my hand up in the stop signal. Not many drivers want to hit a pedestrian or worse yet a foreigner. Also they don't want their car scratched. Be careful, but satisfying watching their faces. The drivers think they are government officials that do not have to stop.

You say when someone is injured or hurt to help them, how do you know that they're not out to scam you? Especially when You're a white foreigner? I believe there was a video where that was discussed. (Edit)Not to make it sound like everyone is going to be that way or to not be the good samaritan and lend a hand to those in need...

Great discussion, guys. Best quote - "In China everyone drives badly". I have been in Kabul, Afghanistan, Baghdad, Iraq, Saigon, Vietnam and Hongkong, and bad drivers are everywhere in third world countries. Cmilk has to reduce the hair fondling - gives image of narcicissism which seems to indicate he is more interested in his self image than sharing facts and info. Once, when I worked in Sydney, Australia for a software firm, they had a lot of Chinese who migrated to that office from the HK office (before the turnover to China) and they worked really hard and long vs the Australians who were lackadaisical and left at 5pm. I asked why they worked so hard and they said it was because they had no social security in China or backup and had to work every day just to survive. Every day was a survival situation to them. And, they wanted to get transferred to the US or Canadian offices.

Book a theater(s)/cinema(s) in China for your documentary. Give it an inspiring Chinese title, edit it in a Chinese version and play it in cinemas in China. Expense vs profit is up to you to look into on your own. Along with profit, if there is profit to be gained, you might also succeed in changing people's minds about your own selves (the domestic online haters), and foreigners in general.

Laowhy86 - ADVChina - serpentza I really enjoy your videos… I am hooked… great commentary on life in China. I first visited Hong Kong in 69 while on R&R and in my working life traveled all around the world for 25 years including revisiting HK (and many other cities in China) many times. Some on the scams are very familiar… HK tea, Saigon tea, Taipei tea, Tokyo tea and on and on. I figured that the girls had to make a living not being judgmental as I knew what the game was. BTW HK remains my favorite city… kinda reminded me of NY where I am from. And I almost didn’t go back to Danang after my R&R was up. Love the bikelogue’s…I went on 7000+ mile three-week cross-country trip (NY to California and back to NY in 74) on a 72 Triumph 650 Bonneville… and it was awesome… no hotels just camped in farm fields and pastures and visited two Vietnam buds. I noticed on one of your videos you noted that the license plate mounts had fractured on your bike… when I returned from my 74-cross-country trip all four corners had fractured on my plate. I was also stationed in Japan; living off base for two years… loved Japan but quickly realized that if you’re not Japanese you’ll never be Japanese. Doing business in China was easier (more direct) than Japan but found Korea a grind. I am now watching ConqueringSouthernChina on Amazon… Keep up the great work / continue continuing.

Tree L. Bolling Can you really understand English? What they said basically is that China is full of scams, all Chinese cannot drive, Chinese are very selfish, Chinese have bad manners, Chinese have no good samaritan . Because these bad things made themselves more vigilant, self dependent, more tolerant to bad traffics, and chaotic environment. In addition, Winston realized that he is a much better person than Chinese, and he learned how keep being a noble person without taking bad influence from Chinese.... These are the old topics played over and over again in their channels. Today, they just repeated these craps with a little more additional nonsense.
@mrtrappist79477 жыл бұрын
Quix I am not denying the reality. Yes, these bad things indeed exist in China. Again as always what they did 1) generalization 2) exerggeration . Moreover, there are many positive things in China. I am sure some positive things influenced them positively. I just wonder why ADVCHINA has to be pure negative to China and Chinese. And how hard it is for them to say some real positive side of China?
@mrtrappist79477 жыл бұрын
Quix Is this because all their patrons are not Chinese. and their patrons like listening to the pure negative things about China?
@novafawks7 жыл бұрын
Mr Trappist, I think they're really comparing and contrasting to how it is in America. I don't think they're being rude, even with ADVChina. I see where you're coming from, though, but you should be able to see that it's not intentional on their part, it's the comparison to how life is in America because that's where most of their viewers are. I don't necessarily see it as them disowning the country or whatever
