It is amazing, but through the years I've realised Cesar sees all the nuances of dog posturing but the people can't see so clearly what the dog is communicating. It may seem subtle but it's not.

@samwdavis
@samwdavis 3 ай бұрын
I agree. That was funny. BUT, he did that at the moment that she was calling the dog and the dog didn't recall. You don't fix that with psychology and being assertive. You fix that with TRAINING and teaching recall (come) with hundreds of reps including with distance and distractions. It's called dog training. The psychology is SO important, but it doesn't REPLACE training. It's a prerequisite to training..

So odd that Tammy said that she's a huge fan of Cesar, yet she didn't use any of what he teaches with her dogs, even after he taught her directly, in person!!! I hope that that is unusual. Cesar has worked publicly with every kind of canine problem there is. Surely he has helped _everyone_ who has _any_ kind of difficulty with their dog! (Isabu and Tammy starting 'agility training' was hilarious! 😂)

Every time I watch Cesar work with a dog I learn something. For instance, due to smoke from forest fires, my service dog and I are stuck in the house with little to no playtime outside. As you can imagine things went awry with Bear not responding to my commands like he usually does. (He still cues to his duties though.) After watching this I realize that my behavior is fueling the issue because my voice gets louder when I get frustrated. Thanks to this video if we are still stuck inside, I can see ways to make the day a happier day for both of us by becoming a better leader. Thank you

This is not meant to be sexist, but it seems that a high-pitched female voice like hers is often the problem with dog problems. Women could even lower their register a bit. So often a firm male voice gets thru to the dog.
@Pammellam
@Pammellam 2 ай бұрын
Yes, that is true. And I don’t think it is sexist. But dogs are also very sensitive to a power balance. And then defer to a male voice. Such dogs need to learn that all humans are their boss which takes time perhaps. And then to follow Cesar’s methods. ;-)

@@qweenkaii04 thank you so much for taking the time to write me. Yes, my little female barks non stop at whoever has stopped by. This makes her brother react, but i can usually calm him down but she’s the the pet I need to stop from barking. It may be the wrong thing to do, but if there are multiple people visiting I sometimes pick her up if she doesn’t stop barking! If they are close friends I have even asked if they would like to hold her…that stops her barking immediately! If they hold her and put her down it starts all over! That’s why I need guidance in handling this situation. I’m willing to put in the effort to stop this behavior completely. I’ve never owned a pet who didn’t love everyone so this has been quite a challenge for me.

@@shirleyspadorcio6182 its np, i really would like to help ppl with their dogs/pets as Cesar does, ive always kinda had a way with them and i see the area is wide spread and Cesar is just one person so if i can help a little its always my pleasure! now the important thing is discipline and making sure you follow through. so if barking when the doorbell rings, BEFORE u open the door deal with the dogs...have calm assertive energy with a firm no(or hey whichever u choose) and a *tsch*(or whichever sound u choose) to let them know ur not having tht barking. u have to assert your dominance. the female is dominating right now, also be careful when pickin them up in an excited state (depending on how u hold her) it can be confusing for the dog. also how often are u walking them? exercise discipline and affection is the rule of 3 Cesar points out for dogs who are anxious nervous or aggressive....

@shirleyspadorcio6182 By picking her up while she's still barking, you're awarding the unwanted behavior, and the dog thinks she needs to keep doing what she was doing. Was on holiday 8wks ago! I saw a similar dog! Apparently a rescue dog, but, bad owners with good intentions! Walking her in a remote place because of her aggression! It's about energy "Alpha mentality" I could see the dogs fear, so asked if I could pet her. They said "no, she will bite" I said "loosen the lead she'll be fine!" I kept calm & in control. Asked her name & called her to me & said sit! She came towards me wagging her tail, both of us calm. The woman owner freaked out & the dog tried to nip my ankle & bit the female owner. Of course I corrected the owner first! Explained pack order & asked them to be silent! Asserted inner dominance & the dog became the sweetest cutie! Layer down & showed me her belly,but tail relaxed! The couple said " they've never seen her like that " I gave them a "shh!" 😂 Then, tried basic commands, sit, down etc. She did everything! Bless her! I gave her stroking reward then, she sat & leant up against my leg! I advised them & recommended this channel! Let's hope they learn?

I'm trying to understand why she brings her dog, who she knows will bite people or other dogs, to the park without putting the dog on a leash. Even after knowing he bit a child.

The first time that dog bit me and the owner gave that lame, 'I'm sorry', I would tell her to not be sorry but to FIX IT!

I know the warning in the beginning says leave it to professional trainers but be honest, have you tried the tips you see on the show? How was it for you 🧐

I finally got it. You have to follow through! My small dog is fine, but when she sees an urban fox, she goes crazy. I can stop her, or prevent her by being on the alert for a fox myself. However, if we are taken by surprise, she will react furiously (there are many foxes in our neighbourhood). Now I realise that the missing part is to correct, but to get her into a calm state before we continue. I'll try this out tonight.

The genius of CM is that he figured out that dogs are like satellite dishes that receive whatever frequencies the dog owners broadcast. Time and time again he proves this. Badly behaved dogs are always due to badly-configured owner psychology, and the concept probably extends far into other areas of our troubled society.

If that was a big dog, it would have been put down. I can believe they kept letting Tammy bring him to the park if he had already drawn blood several times. Not acceptable. Furthermore, that’s obviously a stressed out dog. He was not having fun at the park.
