‘LION KING’ Shandor Larenty has turned his attention to training hyenas - so they can appear in HOLLYWOOD movies. The dedicated 24-year-old recently spent time with his top hyena student, ‘Stinky’, in order to improve her capacity to take on new instructions and be able to achieve those perfect shots for the camera. Shandor made use of two effective methods; first, putting red meat on the end of a stick to entice the hungry hyena to jump higher, and second, attaching a mop to the end of a rope to capture shots of her running. Of course, there is always a high level of danger attached to Shandor’s work - and with raw meat and hyenas involved, he was certainly increasing the stakes. But will his training be a success this time round?

Could be regional dialect. Some places tend to spell it as Hyaena. Zebra's also tend to be pronounced differently. For example, I usually hear them pronounce it as Zeh-brah from those in the UK, compared to over here in the states, I usually hear it as Zee-bra

Gosh that is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. I love the fact that when she's done - she just goes and sits next to her truck. Lol. no comparison - but my Kelpie used to do that. She would come around the paddock with us, use her little sniffer to do what she wanted, watch the kangaroos and beg to be allowed to 'Get Em' (old dog, still fast but not a chance in hell of getting near them - but kept her happy - til one of them looked at her then she ran back to mum (me) and sat behind my milk crate or gopher I was sitting on doing fence repairs lol - same with the ponies - though the ponies would follow her back to me as well - so she would go hide under the car or trailer. (Was never an actual 'go get em' just purely a game of 'Kelpie wants to run through swampy paddock bits, sit in water troughs, roll in the round bales and act the fool) - anyhow - you'd get that 'play' thing. I did have to laugh at the bit where she had bitten the tyre - yup - big toy... was just attached to something that meant she couldnt drag her toy around. The shots of you and her playing are beautiful and of her in the water - she clearly loves it - and that very last shot with her big toothy grin - just absolutely gorgeous. .. Please give her a cuddle from this South Australian who has the urtmost respect for anyone who can work with wild animals and help bring awareness to them.
