Join me on a detailed talk and point-of-view styled demonstration of how I approach cosplay photography photoshoots when on location. This is different than taking photos at a convention because we specifically look for places that will fit the source material. I was also taking photos with two other photographers which creates a unique collaborative dynamic to the photography. Unique POV, Scott. Enjoyable post, practical tips. Am not into gaming, so bear w/me: What happens to the images - publicity, inclusion in game promos, or game itself, etc? Did you have to get a model release from the actor, or did a release cover your images (for YT use or otherwise)? Who picked the location? Cool venue on its own. Will you return for your own location images? Cheers!

I do this type of photography as a hobby. There isn't any money involved. This is my friend. He made the outfit and props like the cane. I've never heard of a game or other media company going after an individual "cosplaying" as one of their characters. It's difficult to describing the how and why someone would do this as a hobby (and sometimes a business). Basically, the game creator in this case has nothing to do with it. A lot of people do cosplaying because they feel some type of connection to the media involved and go to conventions or do things like what I showed in the video.
