I graduated with a degree in MIS and I have been having issues getting hired right now because of the pandemic. I am not much of a programmer myself, but the field of IT is MASSIVE. Having a knowledge of programming is useful, but it is not the only path. A degree in tech really improves your salary and job prospects for sure! I met people that have already been in the field but go back to school to get that degree. Hopefully you pursue a master's now that you have your degree! cheers!

question… I work full time and do some other stuff. I cant affordd to attend to a face to face bootcamp unfortunately. Im interested in front end dev . do u think with this course at udemy i can get study part time?. like only 2 hrs a day. Is it realistic ?.
@SidneyBuckner Жыл бұрын
I think that really depends on how much you are willing to schedule time to work on progressing through a self paced course in a way that keeps you leveling up and inspired to learn. 2hrs a day can be a great start! But so can 30mins as long as you keep the routine up as much as you can. What about this course seems interesting to you? Are there other resources you’ve researched too? There are a ton of questions you’ll need to ask yourself before diving in. And my recommendation would always be to try a free resource before you spend money on a thing you change your mind about or can’t commit to.

@SidneyBuckner3 жыл бұрын
Majority of the folx I studied with only had GEDs or High school diplomas. I know a lot of people who only have their high school diplomas and are Senior Engineers. Take a look at FreeCodeCamp and some other free resources to start. Make the commitment to try this and see how you like it.

I would suggest looking into getting certifications if you don't want to spend too much time learning how to code. COMP TIA, an AWS certification or a SAFe or a Scrum Alliance Certification. If you would like to discuss options further please set some time on my calendar: calendly.com/sidney-buckner

Great video. I'm taking the traditional route and earning a degree In Computer Science. As a Computer Scientist one of the tools we use is programming, but that's just one tool in our toolbox. I think the term " Software Engineering" is used too loosely and some don't understand that coding is not Engineering. That said good luck with your career.
