I made this platform for my 2020 Toyota RAV4 but it can easily be adjusted for whatever vehicle space you are working with. The entire project came out to $235 and 4 1/2 hours of assembly. (Pretty good for someone who has very little experience building things!)
The best thing about this is that it’s light enough to install on my own, because of the three piece set up. And the trunk platform can be left in place as a cargo shelf.
Im really proud of how this turned out and had a lot of fun putting it together with my Dad. I hope you find it helpful.

I did this on an earlier model. The ideal setup for me (over 6') is to: --Remove the back seats (a pain in the butt - butt it gives you massive room & removes weight). --Build a platform over the rear deck - it goes over the folded down passenger front seat. --Get a roof box.

Seems to make more sense to get a roofbox for storage and not take away your ability to sit up in bed with the tall platform. Either way, nice build! Thanks for sharing.

What are you supporting the very rear platform legs on? There's thin plastic over there, you're not concerned?

I don’t get how the front pieces stay in place… did I miss something? Don’t they need pipe to hold them up too?

There are 4 legs on the front platform. At 6:44 and 7:16 I talk about leg placement and how we measure for height adjustment. The small piece of the platform is not attached and simply sits on top of the support.
