How I built my JKU roof rack!!

This video is just an overview of how I built my roof rack, my thought process on what I wanted to achieve, and a few close-ups of the material I used and design. There is no step by step welding as this is not a welding and fabrication channel. The rack is not pretty by any means but does look good from 20 yds away lol.

materials used:
1'' EMT conduit
3/4" rigid conduit pre bent 90 degree elbows
1/2" EMT conduit for crossmembers
various angle iron sizes
spray can bedliner
uni-strut and spring nuts
custom brackets

Why did you have to do the acid thing?

Paint will not stick to galvanized. It will come off. So washing it with muriatic acid will remove the galvanizing and give you an etched surface to paint without the worry of it peeling off.

Did you bolt it INTO the roll bar, or AROUND the roll bar? TIA.

I made a bracket that bolts to the roll bar. That bracket has a hole in it that allows me to bolt the rack to the roll cage, thru the hardtop. It is sealed on the top portion of the roof with a rubber gasket and RTV silicone. I have had absolutely 0 issues with leaking. You can give me an email and I will try to send you a picture of my bracket if you need to see it.
