This video is fantastic. I've been searching for how to mod (or make) a creamy sounding keyboard for forever. Everything is all about thocc and I'm like, "but I want it creamy!" This video is so well made, edited so nicely. You definitely deserve more views for all this work. Love it.

It's kind of crazy that you can get a barebone aluminium kb for that price (and the prebuilt for $100). How far we've come since the mech keyboard hobby exploded during the pandemic, I thought boards like monsgeeks were crazy for the price, now we have entry level/budget stuff like this.
@TyCottle6 ай бұрын
It really is! With board like the Chillkeys ND75 only being around $100 for a fully build is out of this world!

womier has a really nice 65% AL keeb right now also....99 dollar prebuilt and it ranks up there with the epomaker...... its the KS65 and i just got one to write a review on..... and it is honestly the most impressive budget keeb that i have tired since the galaxy 80..... its even got a nice weight plate on it.... the switches slide into place so effortlessly..... i highly suggest trying it out if your interested in a beautiful smaller keeb with a knob and al frame....

This is a really well made video! Glad you were able to make such a great sounding keyboard for the low budget. Really shows how much this industry is improving to be more beginner and budget friendly (since that's pretty much what's stopping most people from entering the hobby). Great work! Subbed.

great video! One thing I want to add is that while foams are good on cheaper boards, If you get into higher end keyboards the majority of them are built to sound good without foams. So boards coming without foams may not necessarily denote a poorer build or sound quality

Hey, I had made a build similar to this. I had used a keychron v2 barebones kit with JWK Jwick Linear Switches and Red Samurai Clones. My board does not sound as good despite completing all the steps in the video. Do you think I should get new switches and keycaps, and if so what would you recommend. I am trying to reach a similar creamy sound. Anything would help, Thanks!

$60 with a $6 off coupon no less! I built one of these out just because it was all AL for less then $60. Had some extra WS Heavy Tactiles and grabbed some front shine shine through XVX keycaps that match (got the blue) for like $20. Total build since I had the switches less than $80. A wired galaxy 80 build with high quality caps and hmx or other flawless stock switches should come in under 100 if you know what you're doing. The switches and caps you chose are dirt cheap and not very good, and you massively massively overpaid for them to manage to get this to 114+.
@TyCottle6 ай бұрын
prove it, then we'll talk. Side note: I like the boards to be somewhat accessible to people around the world in case they want a similar board.
@Blob94 ай бұрын
bro how are you supposed to get metal board high quality caps and flawless stock switches under $100
@MangoTangoFox4 ай бұрын
@@Blob9 I literally said how. The Wired Galaxy80 is only 54 on Amz and 46 on WhatGeek with code. Also randomly the wireless version appeared for 45 on Amz but it has since sold out. 50 remaining is enough or nearly enough to get 90 HMX switches especially if they're on sale from say MilkTooth or UniKeys (who now also sell singles at normal price for sampling all the varieties), and a large keycap set of good quality like Shenpo, GhostJudges, or a wide array of random dyesub cherry sets or doubleshot abs from Ai Fei which are surprisingly comparable to GMK for 5th the cost.

Kinda, I sold some fully built tiger lights for around that price with really good parts. Only ever made $50 from each for assembly and lubing the switches though. Also offered a really great tutorial on how to build the same board for cheaper. The ones I sold were only for those couple of people that would pay extra for it to be done instantly and wanted hand lubed switches.
