I really want a gate to block the rabbit off from the living-room when I'm not around... But all the pet gates I find are either made of plastic and wood or they have wide bars that my bunny can easily slip through. I'm not allowed to put holes in my wall to make a gate like yours. What should I do? Right now I'm just using a large box, but that's not going to work forever!

Where did you get all the wood to build the cages, was it expensive?
@justsewit_tk54775 жыл бұрын
Some really good ideas there. My bunny climbs x-pens I have discovered as I have a 4 and 5 foot x-en joined together so I have now got a make shift cover over the front corners of the pen and she hasn't done it since - this was the first and only time she has done this. I have her in my sewing room because it is a long room and I can close the door on the cats. I have been busy cleaning sorting and tidying the space she is not in and I have bought conduit to cover all my cords with so that should she get out again, she is safe along with all my expensive things. Another thing you could have done with the one doors was to make a door cover from the pine where you'd just slip it onto the door - that's what I would do as I don't have a very clever dad who goes above and beyond to make all this fabulous stuff like your dad does - he's very handy to have around isn't he?!

How did you secure the 2x4s to the baseboard??? Just bought a new house as well and my bunnies destroyed my baseboard :/
@Trainingthroughlife5 жыл бұрын
In the bunny room we used pine wood over the baseboards to cover them and my dad went ahead and nailed them into the wall with a nail gun as nail holes are easy to repair in drywall. But I understand if your renting you might not be able to do this. I that case I would try to get some 2x6’s and place them in front of the baseboards, cut them to size for your wall, and if they don’t stay in place try putting a small patio brick or something in front of it?

I'm renting an apartment that has shag carpet and my bunny keeps digging and trying to eat it. I have covered certain spots that he chews but he just moves and chews elsewhere. He hasn't been deterred by bitter sprays in the past and I can't move him to live in a noncarpeted area. He has plenty of toys and chewables that I rotate out so he doesn't get bored and he has unlimited hay. I'm afraid he will do this when I'm not home and make a hole or swallow some. Do you have suggestions?
@Trainingthroughlife5 жыл бұрын
Have you tried a digging box or a grass mat? Those have helped sterling and his digging.
@emilyniederbremer81645 жыл бұрын
He has a grass mat that he doesn't use (I've even tried incentivizing it by hiding small treats throughout that he would have to dig to get) and I have tried 2 different digging boxes, one with actual dirt/sand and one with shredded newspaper. He never approached either by himself and whenever I tried to place him in either one he'd jump out and thump. He likes digging in blankets, which I don't mind, and there's usually one nearby for him to do that to, but he still goes for the carpet :/ my next solution is to cover the entirety of the floor with scrap, non-shag carpet that I find on Craigslist. But that solution seems tacky, time consuming, and potentially expensive
@rebeccahess70545 жыл бұрын
Emily Niederbremer I would just take a special blanket just for him and whenever you see him digging pull him a way and give that blanket to him or dangle it in front of him

Pls answer!!! If u have 2 bunnies do they need to be in the same cage or can they just meet each other Every day?
@bunnyobsessed56125 жыл бұрын
Hi! I have two bunnies who are bonded. I’m not sure what your bunny goals are but if you just want your bunnies to occasionally meet daily, as long as your bunnies are comfortable with each other (can have close contact either side of a play pen or something) then that should be fine as long as your supervising. Both bunnies will need to be spayed or neutered to prevent territorial behaviours, and you will need to be close by in case fights break out. Bunnies can be housed together once bonded, which 101 rabbits has videos about. Can I ask why you only want your bunnies to occasionally meet and not be bonded?
