Transition ferrets to raw can be tricky but what I would do is I would blend them like chicken tenderloin soups and slowly make the chicken chunks bigger and bigger. Eventually, get them to eat it in a big piece and then try to get them to eat a chicken wing, bone and all. And then try to introduce them to organs. I would look up Pazuandfriends on KZbin! She is all about raw feeding and she has a nice mentoring program.

Please remember to add water to your kibble before you feed it, kibble is severely dehydrating on them and since ferrets are not natural water drinkers they rely on their food to get most of their hydration! Raw food in the wild is full of water, so normally they wouldn't have to worry about dehydration, but kibble is like a sponge and provides no hydration whatsoever unless you add water.

@@moshack Water bottles have chipped many many ferret teefs, don't give water bottles. They also don't provide nearly enough water, if you tap your finger on the end it's just one drop every time which is a very slow and annoying process that often leads to chewing on the spout, which then leads to chipped teeth.

@@Grey-wp5xu That is because you are not using the proper sized water bottle. But in special cases a small water dish that they can not dive into will work. Just remove it after they Finish drinking. My Ferrets never chip their teeth on their water bottles.

@@moshack How would the size of the water bottle effect the chewing? I've seen ferrets use all sorts of water bottles and they still chew quite hard on them. It also doesn't excuse the fact that they get very very little water per lick. They shouldn't have to spend more than 2 minutes drinking to get enough water. Water bowls have always worked for me and my community of over 500 people. The ferrets may dig in it, or dunk their faces in, but they will be getting proper hydration and that's the most important part. Would you rather continue to use a bottle which is widely known to cause problems with ferrets, or just use a clip on bowl and be safe for them? I mean absolutely no hate. It's nobody's fault if they haven't heard of one thing or another.

I use Kaytee for my guinea pigs as their cage is absolutely massive so fleece is a hassle and the kaytee expands a TON so I save a ton of money using 2 bags of kaytee rather than 4 carefresh per week.

Those ferret bowls are great! I've been using dishes designed for birds for my four large male rats, but since they have a fair old appetite I have to fill two dishes at a time. Putting dishes in which don't attach to the bars is a great way to lose the dish until the next time I do a cage deep clean.

I use to use that bedding also but found plastic pieces in it a couple of times. Iv started using a bedding called Small pet select, they do white bedding also. I get the 178L for £40 off amazon so a bit cheaper then Carefresh! Not sure if your ferrets would like it but I think its amazing, my Degus love it and make nests with it. Not sure if that'll help at all but hope it helps someone looking for good bedding!!

For feeding raw you should start by just putting a bit of the meat juice into the kibble and then start blending up some raw meat and mix it with kibble and then gradually at more of the blended meat and less kibble and then once you are up to the point of only the raw blend gradually blend it less and less until normal chunks. This should work as I have tried it myself

I recently became a fan. I love watching your ferret videos. I am a long time ferret owner and have seen and dealt with many things. Your videos are about the only one that hits that nail on the head when it comes to these guys. Holistic Ferret Forum has amazing information on raw feeding, it helped me so so much when transitioning my five ferrets over to raw. It’s really quite simple once you get the basics down. You have to teach them it’s food more often than not because they don’t recognize it. As for cleaning, I make my own baby wipes with the water and vinegar solution. I just gathered a bunch of old washcloths, cut them into 1/4s and set them in a container. Then added the water and vinegar. So when one has an accident, I grab one of the wipes, squeeze it out, clean it up, then rinse and wash it.

I have 4 parrots and I mostly only use warm water to vibe down their cages every night, but if I’m giving a full clean I use a solution of vinegar and water, but I use waaay less vinegar than you do. It still works wonders and it’s safe for my sensitive babies, so I’m pleased. I also use the vinegar/ water solution when cleaning stuff like the oven. You really have to be careful when you have birds, but I don’t mind☺️ anything for my babies safety

Coverting Ferrets to raw is usually difficult. Especially if they have been used to kibble their whole lives. I saw an online article once that explained it well, and I will do my best to reiterate it. If you give kibble normally, try moistening it, little by little, until the ferrets are used to having completely moist kibble. Once that step is done, start adding ground meat of your choosing in with the food little by little like you did with the water. Once they have gotten used to a decent amount of raw ground mixed with the soft kibble. Start increasing the amount of raw vs the amount of kibble. Once you have eliminated the kibble, you can give them meals fully made of ground raw. From there, You can encourage them to eat other raw products, I've heard Ferrets take to chicken and beef best. I am in no way and expert, only relaying what I have seen on raw diet ferret websites.

It's not good for ferrets! Loose bedding of any kind can and will give respiratory infections and other issues. Please use blankets and pee pads/litter box instead. (for ferrets)
