Brilliant dude. I started adding this to all my footage (not as dreamy though, keeping it a little more subdued) after you mentioning it in a previous tutorial but I still learned more about the parameters of this effect. Thanks so much, brother. Best colorist on the internet

If a specific camera isn't listed in the selection of the Input Color Space, can we create one? For example, using the DJI Pocket 2 D-Cine-Like Log, isn't exactly the same as the listed DJI log profiles. How do we tune it ans save as a seperate one, for the future use?
@calebkeller92562 жыл бұрын
No, but sometimes the manufacturer will have CST Luts for their specific exposure curves. If it doesn’t, try to find a curve that closely matches that of your camera, and apply that. Adding contrast does not properly convert log footage.

Should I do the Primary/balancing before the CST? If I use the Davinci Color Managed in the Setings and select the Input Color Space, that means the Primary will be done after the CST, but does it matter, does it make any difference, to do the Primary balancing before or after the CST?
@dylanlooney49952 жыл бұрын
CST always come after the primaries, regardless of where it is in the node tree. Look up "resolve grading order of operations"
@hellowallace2 жыл бұрын
@@dylanlooney4995 Thanks. I finally looked into the manual, starting on page 192. If I use RCM in the Settings and use Input Color Space, it will preserve the data that is out of the range, for later adjustment. If doing it manually by adding a CST node, Primary should be done before the CST - this is my conclusion. Thanks again.

@ShadowMakerSdR2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you cover this in your basic tutorial, but the one thing I don't understand is why you put the CST at the end of the chain. Won't gamma or color corrections work differently on different kinds of footage? i.e. how do you apply a look that you did on a log image to a lineair image if you do the CST at the end? Won't all the nodes give different results?
@TheodoreSwaddling2 жыл бұрын
I believe if you have the CST at the end of the node tree, then anything that comes before is working in the wider colour space and gamma, which should mean you have more latitude to play with and colours won't break as easily etc. If you were going to do the corrections after the CST, you might as well not shoot in LOG and just shoot in Rec709. I could be wrong though.
