Just Glorious!!! The colors, light vs dark. I want to be there!

After watching a few of your videos, in particular, the glazing and sanding, this one, and the "painting lesson," I see that the glazing and sanding are a major part of your process. Then the beautiful creamy opaques you add. It's all about contrasts, isn't it? Hard, soft, transparent, opaque, lost and found, darks and lights, etc. Great reminders!

I have been greedily watching as many of your YT videos as I can. When I first viewed your phenomenal art, I reacted to it so emotionally; and hearing you speak about it, and answer questions resonated with me in such an exciting way. It was truly an experience for someone so new at abstracts. I have always felt this need to get my emotions down on canvas; like they’re bursting to come out, but feeling so insecure in the technique department. Your teaching has already changed my perspective and given me a whole new exciting mindset. I have been enjoying the process of determining what I like and don’t like about a piece of art. I have truly found my teacher and hopefully my “tribe” too. Thank you so much for sharing your superpower with us.

I really enjoyed this Luise. I did not realise you have so many layers. Do you do same on a canvas? You would not sand that would you? Or would you? I should pose that question on a Friday.

I'm a bit late watching this lovely film. Lousie, I feel there is something wrong with my artistic 'vision' because I loved some of your earlier 'versions' and I would have stopped before getting the brilliant final result! I just don't know when a painting is really finished! Thanks very much.

But you can learn to know - it's really just about when YOU have the feeling that you love the painting - until then, it's not done
@susandalton6585 жыл бұрын
I love this series Louise, absolutely stunning. Typically, how many layers do you think you put down? It sounds like many, many, many!
@ThisPaintingLife5 жыл бұрын
hi Susan - it really varies, but yes quite a few! It's all part of the journey and part of the painting finding its way x

Quick question that I need answered. Do you believe art can be taught? Or do you believe art is an innate, natural, God given talent? I believe it is the latter, I believe it is simply a talent. We can't all be singers, we can't all be olympic gymnasts, we can't all be mathematicians, we can't all be artists. As someone who has tried and fought to get better at art for years, I've decided to give up. I've followed so many tutorials on here and tried so hard, but it just isn't happening. I've just come to the realisation that these people who post tutorials are naturally gifted. I'd be interested to hear what you think on the matter. Your artwork is amazing by the way, your amazingly talented
@ThisPaintingLife Жыл бұрын
I disagree - art isn't like sports. Art is about self-expression and we can all express ourselves. I'm really not any more talented than anyone else - I've just worked really hard at removing all the barriers to expressing myself. So while I don't think you need talent, I do think you need perseverance. x The issue might be that you are following other peoples' tutorials instead of finding your own self-expression. Any time we try to do what someone else does naturally, we fail. That's why I don't teach how to paint like me - I teach how to paint like YOU
