I love you are using the curling iron and state it has to be tight. My hair is thick too. The flat iron , I cant use like stylist ,But even whe. They do, all of them. It looks great in shop, but loses any type of wave or curl in less than 1 hour... So I have to have mine tight at forst too

what temperature do you have the curling iron on? I always get kinks in my hair when I try this but my curling iron is a hot tools metal. it also snags :( Im gonna buy a conair!

It's on the hottest setting. I also like the loop holder thing that's on the tip of mine. Easy to grab and twist.

Tamara Bradshaw I have very fine hair and just got a similar cut. It gave me TONS more volume and I have received a multitude of compliments on not only the cut but how much younger I look! Turns out the long fine hair was dragging my face down. Give it a try! :)

Val Brooks get some shampoo for the brassyness. Should be a deep dark purple color. I habe hard water and have to use it once a week to keep the brassyness away.

My beautian told me never to use sea salt spray with a curling or flat iron, it breaks off your hair. You can use a spray for heat styling instead.
