Thanks, darling, for the therapy session. Before I "retired" to care for elderly parents we owned a business for decades. It was alternatingly rewarding and overwhelming. I STILL have nightmares of a dozen employees standing around my desk as I'm trying to print payroll checks but things keep going wrong, and I have to keep starting over, and over. Ugh. I don't find social media compelling, but I do LOVE KZbin tutorials and can easily get sucked in watching other people doing videos about volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, watercolors, gardening, sewing or engineering videos about how things work. I make myself stop and pick up my quilt in progress, paint a note card to send to a friend, etc. There must be some doing along with the learning. Balance is SO important for good mental health, but being outside tidying my garden beds is the happiest place on earth for me. 💞🪴

Well, we kind of do! Keep up the great work, the wonderful videos and the incredible way you approach life. We ALL appreciate it.

I always love your videos, today's was really poignant for me. I am retired and have just moved away from the beach/sea into a town nearer to family. I have had 5 months of packing and unpacking, I have two dogs who are unhappy at the move - I am unhappy at the move and my life has become a circle of being unable to sleep and feeling overwhelmed with dogs, boxes and the complete change. I have a studio for art and crafting and feel unable to actually use it due to being overwhelmed and my brain being like spaghetti junction. I am going to use your methods of banishing the overwhelmed feelings and thank you for sharing. Oh and I adore sweet peas, even with my hay-fever I can appreciate the scent.

I’ve been watching your videos since 2020 when I realised I could do this job. My in-laws have a small tenancy farm and as part of farm diversification I started my micro flower farm in 2022. Your videos and books were the ones that catapulted me into it with enough tools to get started. Hearing this today when this seasons start has been tough and it only gets busier (with 2 smalls to contend with as well) is just what I needed. Thank you ☺️

It’s at this time of the year when the Texas panhandle is 100 degrees everyday that I think about tearing out flower beds and grass and having only two pots of plants. I get very tired of watering just to keep things alive and the mosquitoes add greatly to the unpleasantness of gardening. Then it cools off for a day into the high 80’s and I can breath again and the roses pop open and bees buzz the Russian sage and I am reminded why I raise flowers.

Thanks, you are so right, I'm not a flower farmer but find myself overwhelmed generally day to day. Making a daily list definately helps me. As for social media, I have scaled down what I watch, leaving, quite innocent comments to some KZbin channels and then having completely over the top nasty replys was actually making me feel very low, so I've stopped. My sweetpea stems are not as long as yours. ❤🇬🇧

As someone who does everything a hundred miles an hour I got terribly low and overwhelmed during my last pregnancy, as it was so physically challenging and painful. The advice I heard at that time was "go slow, don't stop" and it made everything possible. Tackling the mess of the house or garden took 3x as long but repeating "go slow, don't stop" got me through. I still use it now when my to do list seems insurmountable 📃

Totally agree. Thank you. One word I would add that you didn’t use, but illustrates the bridge between feeling overwhelmed and becoming newly productive, is reset. People need time and space to reset, draw a line under what has been full on, change down from 6th gear, go into neutral and then start again in 1st gear. I’ve always managed my stress by aligning my energy output akin to driving a car. ❤❤❤ Hope you have a lovely weekend Georgie.

I trained as a florist in 2015 but was never able to get a job at a florist. Now I deliver flowers for a delivery company. It is overwhelming at times as the traffic here is a nightmare. It isn’t a relaxing job at all. I often feel stressed and rushed because I just want to get the jobs done and get off the road! I watch your videos and wish that I could do what you do. Unfortunately we rent our house so that is a problem. Oh well, maybe when the Lord calls us home, maybe He will have a bountiful field of flowers for me to attend to🌸😍

When the Beast From The East hit Norfolk a few winters ago we had to send the team home, cancel orders, stop producing and baking. It all seemed huge and wrong. Derek was on the back lane behind HQ digging someone out and Candi, who is a chutney maker in another barn, was shutting up shop to go home too. She said to Derek “It’s only f****ing chutney!”. Since then if we are getting things out of perspective and forget that we’re making pork pies, not doing brain surgery or running the United Nations, we say “It’s only f****ing chutney”. It always makes us laugh and then makes it much easier to see rational ways forward through that day’s particular challenge.
