I have tried a lot of ways to deal with yarn burn, and I think I found a pretty good fix. If you have any tricks let me know!

I know this is 2 years old but if anyone wants to know, I use sports finger guards/protectors. You can get 10 of them at Amazon for $5. They last for ever it seems. I bought a pack a few years ago and I still have 8 left.

I thought I was the only one who had this problem.... In the past, I used a bandaid to cover the area, but I am allergic to the adhesive... That was exchanging one problem for another... I found a crafting glove that slightly covers the area and I keep having to pull at it to keep it cover... I am going to try both the spring holder and the tube... Thank you for video and your help. I am going to enjoy your videos very much. Look forward to getting to know you better.

My big issue that limits the amount of time I can enjoy crocheting is a link in the neck. Right weehete the neck joins the head and again close to the shoulders. I guess it is from looking down and scrunching my shoulders up. My shoulders keep wanting to kiss my ears I guess. Love your attitude. Vivian Ann on the side of the mountain in NE Tennessee

I have that very same problem, and pain in the right shoulder and elbow! I use a product called biofreeze and it helps

I know this is from a while ago, but thought I’d mention it anyway. I’ve seen other crafters using “lazy glasses” or “90 degree glasses” to avoid looking down altogether. Could be worth checking out

I "suffered in silence" up till now , the finger protection tube thingy seems very appealing, I might look into that, I suppose they sell it at a drugstore (pharmacy)? Shouldn't be too hard to find, I hope ( cause y'all have such great gadgets in the U.S. that are near to impossible to find over here, and I can't buy on Amazon because I don't have a credit card). Thanks though , for yet another great tip ! Love, Nadia x

I use 1" x 3 1/4" Bandaid tough strips because my hook doesn't get stuck on them like on plastic Band-Aids.

The rings are for when you knit or crochet with multiple colors across a row. They are designed to keep the strands separated. My experience is they don't provide any tension to the yarn; but they do make double knitting much easier. I have found that wrapping my finger with medical tape is effective in preventing yarn burn. Just be aware that the adhesive in the sides of the tape can catch on the yarn. I do like the tube you showed. I've never seen it before. It seems more cost-effective than the medical tape.

I have issues with my right hand that holds the crochet hook. I have arthritis that's pretty bad. I use aspercreme (there's no scent) and arthritis gloves when I crochet. Also, you are so right, amigurmi is very hard on the hands. Holly, I've missed your videos so much!! I don't know why, but You Tube stopped sending me notifications for your channel. I started watching your older videos, and now they just notify me of those videos from 4 years ago. Are you still making them? If so, how do I get notified? I am subscribed and rang the notification to be for all videos. What am I missing?

Am I the only person who crochets without putting the yarn over my finger? My grandmother taught me how to crochet, and she's only had half of her index finger after loosing the tip to frost bite in the 1940s. Since she didn't have that part of her finger, she held her yarn in a different way. I use her method because that's how I learned.
@ruckuschica5 жыл бұрын
No, me too! I'm a lefty so when I was learning how to crochet, sticking my finger up just didn't feel right. I yarn over with my left hand (instead of twisting the hook to catch the yarn)
@Ezschaelle5 жыл бұрын
Me too acrually, I haven’t realized I’ve been using what’s called the pick and flip method and that’s how I learned back in 2015 and havent have any issues not until I started crocheting again now with pains on my pinky finger when its bet for long times and having it straight after would start to hurt
